Chapter 9 James lifted his head , his eyes shining with anticipation . I shook my head slowly . " How are you going to repay me for the life that you owe me ? " James broke down completely upon hearing my words . " I'm sorry , Katherine . I'm so sorry . " I wasn't bothered enough to listen to his apologies anymore . I turned around and exited the ward . I made sure to keep my distance from him for the next few days . Luke , who always dropped by the hospital to look for me , noticed my odd behavior and couldn't suppress his curiosity for long . " Who's that injured man to you ? " " He's someone from my past . I don't want to talk about him , " I said , shaking my head . Luke pressed his lips together before he cleared his throat and changed the subject . " We've known each other for quite some time now , Katherine . The truth is , I've always had feelings for you . Would you consider going out with me ? " As I studied his reserved appearance , I realized that I wasn't surprised in the slightest by his confession .
