- Chapter 10 The most recent one was when he missed Julia's birthday . Then , during the car accident , he had protected Catherine and let Julia get hurt instead . And before that , when they were kidnapped , he chose to save Catherine first , and Julia lost their child because of that . The list went on and on . Catherine had carelessly broken the framed photo Julia had placed in his office . He had used the very first forgiveness card to defend her . The wooden box crashed to the ground , spilling the shredded cards all over the floor . Keith stood dazed . Only now did he realize that Julia hadn't cheated . All one hundred forgiveness cards had really been used up . He suddenly recalled what Julia had said the night before - something that had seemed strange at the time . He had wanted to ask but never got the chance . " Are you sure you want to use the most important card on something so trivial ? " she had asked . Now he understood . The most important card she mentioned was the very last forgiveness card . He caught a glimpse of white from the corner of his eye . Stepping over the scattered pieces , he reached for it but hesitated to read the words , even though , deep down , he already knew what it was . Avoiding it wouldn't change anything . In the end , he gave in and looked down at the paper . The words " Divorce Agreement " stared back at him , clear and undeniable . Julia truly didn't want him anymore . Keith stood frozen , staring at the paper without moving for a long time - until a woman's voice broke the silence . Catherine pushed the door open , her tone full of confusion . " Mr. Carson , why haven't you gone to the office today ? " But as soon as she stepped in , the mess inside stunned her . " Why is this place such a mess ? Mr. Carson , did you and Julia have a fight ? " Keith only snapped out of it when the divorce agreement was taken from his hands . He looked up and saw Catherine frowning , worry written all over her face . " Julia wants to divorce you ? Did she misunderstand something ? I've only ever seen you as an older brother . Should I go talk to her ? " It was the same face and the same voice , yet something about it now made Keith feel uncomfortable . He couldn't understand why Catherine had said that . It sounded as if she were accusing Julia of being unreasonable , but that wasn't the truth at all . Julia never made a scene without reason . Chapter 10 2/2 The realization hit him . Julia had never been the one to stir up trouble for nothing . Then , why had he always instinctively taken Catherine's side , going along with her accusations and blaming Julia for making a fuss ? If Catherine only saw him as a brother , then why did she keep crossing the line ? Was it because she didn't understand boundaries ? No. It was because he allowed it . Keith's indulgence came from the confidence those forgiveness cards gave him - the belief that Julia would never leave . He had misjudged how many he had left . He thought he had plenty of chances left , so he acted recklessly . Time and again, he sided with Catherine , leaving Julia for her . But Keith couldn't accept this . He had never truly thought about divorcing Julia . Leaving her had never been part of his plan . He questioned why she never corrected him when she clearly knew exactly how many forgiveness cards were left . If he had realized there were only a few cards left , he never would've wasted them so carelessly . " Mr. Carson ? Mr. Carson ? Are you alright ? " Catherine looked at him with concern , but beneath it was a glint of excitement and smugness she couldn't fully hide . That foolish Julia had really gone through with the divorce . She wondered if this meant she might soon marry Keith and become the next Mrs. Carson - the mistress of Carson Group . She forced down her excitement and put on a look of understanding , thinking it would bring her closer to him . But just as she took a step forward , he pushed her away . " Get out ! " Chapter 11
