Chapter 25 Elliot left the hospital feeling empty and lost . The sky above was a deep , inky black , with a full moon shining down - just like the night he first met Nora . Back then , Nora was clutching a tiny , dying kitten in her arms , frantically asking anyone she could find if they knew of a vet still open late at night . Eventually , she got directions to an emergency clinic and took off running without even looking up . Then , she ran straight into Elliot's arms . She apologized over and over , but he noticed the kitten in her arms and understood what was happening . He took her straight to the vet . But in the end , the kitten was too weak and didn't make it . Nora chose a quiet place to bury the kitten and sat there for a long time , quietly crying . Just then , Elliot received a message from Jonathan and had to head back to the university . He handed her a tissue , then turned and left . After that , Nora somehow fell for him and even told him she liked him . He didn't accept her confession at first , but she was persistent , always finding new ways to catch his attention . Elliot had grown used to having her around . So , when she suddenly disappeared and later showed up holding someone else's hand , it unsettled him . Still , the affection in her eyes was obvious , so he told himself she was just playing hard to get . Eventually , they ended up together . But as Jonathan's health declined , Elliot grew even more grateful for everything Jonathan had taught him . Out of respect for Jonathan's concerns about his only daughter , Elliot began to take extra care of Claire . He only wanted to repay Jonathan . He had never loved Claire and never meant to betray Nora . But somehow , everything fell apart . He realized now that he'd been too confident , thinking Nora would never leave him . He had forgotten that nothing lasted forever , and that love couldn't survive if only one person kept giving . It was his fault . But by the time he understood that , it was far too late . Wheeling himself out of the hospital , Elliot looked frail and lonely under the moonlight . Ahead of him stood Claire , her face pale but her eyes stubborn . When she saw him , she smiled and said , " Elliot , I'm here to take you home . " She had come this far for him , so there was no way she was letting go of him now . Even if it killed . her , she would hold on to him until the very end . Chapter 25 Inside the hospital room , Lucas couldn't take his eyes off his daughter's peaceful sleeping face , feeling happy and content . Nora gently tapped his shoulder . When he looked up , she asked softly , " Have you picked out a name for her yet ? " He shook his head . " Not yet . My parents and I all thought it'd be best if Grandpa chose her formal name . But as for her nickname , that's up to us . What do you think ? " Nora pondered for a moment , then nodded . " What did you have in mind for a nickname ? " Lucas shook his head again . Sensing her curiosity , Lucas rattled off the names that had been rejected , " I liked Jellybean , Smiley , or Cotton . " Nora ignored the hopeful look in his eyes . The next day , everyone started calling the baby . Gigi . Walter's health had been getting better . When he found out he could choose the baby's formal name , he was overjoyed .
