Sylvie hung her head low. Before the apocalypse, she was a famous model, so her daily schedule consisted of nothing but exercises, photoshoots, and traveling. It was quite a luxury if she could catch a nap between shoots, let alone watch movies or play games. "Understood..." Lin Yi nodded slightly, finally identifying the core of the problem. Sylvie had never seen those medieval weapons and defensive armor before; how could she possibly make them? Relying solely on imagination? He genuinely didn’t understand why Sylvie would draw the Weapon Smith skill, despite the girl’s efforts. In his view, it was a malicious joke; women and weapons just didn’t mix! Especially medieval weapons! Those things were what drove men crazy... So, he suggested that the girl try to find people who understood medieval weapons and armor. "If you can’t find any, why not ask a game player, like Melanie?" "Alright, boss! Thank you!" Sylvie, being clever, quickly understood the direction once her boss gave a hint, feeling that the small request was as bright as a lighthouse. However, Melanie awkwardly said, "Boss, I’m not a game player; I’m a game streamer! But I’ll definitely help..." "Great, I’ll make sure you get credit for it then!" Lin Yi nodded in thanks, then moved on to the next issue: "Solomon, what’s going on with the Beastman over there?" "They are always preparing something, cutting down a lot of trees... I’ve been recording all their movements; should we go and sabotage their plans?" "Haha, no need for that!" He felt this was the first piece of good news he’d heard today. Let the Beastmen keep building! No matter what they planned to do with the wood, Louis’s gooey killing cocktail would roast them anyway. The remaining time during lunch was spent discussing shelter affairs, especially regarding the arrangement of new members, who were actively recruited into manufacturing jobs or military service. Now, many unemployed people were grinding wheat and corn. The shelter lacked any relevant machinery, so everything had to be done by hand. Despite the challenges, the production of bioethanol and cornmeal steadily increased. Currently, there’s a severe shortage of furniture again. Some people used scrap wood and whatever materials they could find to make furniture, while others dismantled scrapped cars to make small beds and sofas using car seats. They even figured out a way to utilize the wheels. The recently recruited survivors in the shelter were not like those burdensome people in the Louvre; instead, they were skilled and actively striving for survival. Hubert wanted to form a squad of soldiers to constantly guard the surrounding areas, in case of another unexpected visitor... After discussing business, Lin Yi returned to the real world. He set off from the south of Provan Town, heading towards the forest where the military base was located. However, one thing troubled him continuously. The direction the zombies were moving was eerily the same as his... their purpose was hard to guess. As the military Jeep approached the base, Lin Yi witnessed a fierce battle raging on. Blocked by the zombie horde, he couldn’t tell who was fighting whom, forcing him to stop about half a kilometer from the base. A thunderous roar echoed through the forest, followed shortly by several similar but less loud and intimidating growls. The source of these sounds was obviously not human... but also not zombies... "What is that, boss?!" Melanie’s anxious voice came through his headset. Lin Yi guessed, "It might be some kind of mutated creature. Perhaps it’s fighting the zombie horde. Can you see what’s happening over there?" "I can’t see too clearly, but it does seem like there’s indeed a huge creature and some shapes of a zombie horde..." "It looks like... wait!——" Suddenly, Lin Yi’s expression changed. Could they be destroying that military base during the battle? "Solomon! Bring the machine gun and ammo, and load some conventional firearms. Tell the archers to prepare their deadliest arrows; we might be in for a bloody fight!" After giving the orders, Lin Yi sent the Jeep back to the shelter, then quickly proceeded through the forest towards the base. He tried to avoid the zombies as much as possible along the way, which made his progress very slow. Finally, he unfortunately encountered an entirely impassable area, forcing him to return to the shelter. On the outskirts of Provan, this military base had a thousand soldiers and staff before the apocalypse, including an infantry battalion. The perimeter of the base had barbed wire, and inside there was a 3-meter high wall. The base had one entrance, which had now been completely destroyed, looking like it had been trampled by a herd of elephants. Approximately ten thousand zombies surrounded the base, attacking something wildly. Several breaches were evident in the base walls, through which the zombies poured inside... Lin Yi stared at the screen, witnessing the destruction; his heart grew heavy. About a dozen enormous brown bears, as big as tanks, were furiously tearing through the never-ending flow of zombies. Their massive paws wiped out dozens of undead, sending them flying, but the zombies immediately got back up and re-engaged in the fight. These undead didn’t just stand around waiting for a second hit. ʀᴇᴀᴅ ʟᴀᴛᴇsᴛ ᴄʜᴀᴘᴛᴇʀs ᴀᴛ 𝓷𝓸𝓿𝓮𝓵•𝓯𝓲𝓻𝓮•𝓷𝓮𝓽 They grabbed the mutated bears, kicking and punching, some even trying to bite into the bear’s hide. The wildest few even attempted to climb onto the massive bodies of the mutant bears to gouge their eyes. The mutant bears were provoked; they roared and bit the zombies, tossing them everywhere, but the zombies were everywhere, surging wave upon wave. In the midst of this chaotic scene stood a truly gigantic mutant bear. This grizzly, or, it should be said, she-bear, was their leader, striving with all its might to wipe out the zombie horde. This creature was as huge as a semi-trailer, but that wasn’t the only thing distinguishing it from the others. On its head grew a horn as colossal as that of a unicorn. The bear roared, struck viciously, struck again, and roared once more, damaging some valuable buildings and vehicles in its aggressive attacks... Lin Yi watched as this mutant she-bear tossed an infantry fighting vehicle into the zombie horde, smashing it to pieces. An entire ten thousand zombies! No matter how strong these dozen mutant bears were, against such an overwhelmingly massive number, they struggled to cope, finding even fighting difficult... The main attack force of this zombie horde was a particularly agile and fast-moving zombie. It bounded with short yet stout legs out of the zombie throng, leaping from one zombie’s head to another, lunging toward the nearest mutant bear. Its long arms ended not with hands but sharp spikes, which it joyfully waved as it drove two spikes nearly to the elbow into the mutant bear’s ears. The bear’s brain was destroyed, its body collapsing heavily. Seeing its kin die, the mutant she-bear bellowed in fury, hurling another vehicle at the mutation. But this agile zombie evaded the assault; however, the she-bear king anticipated this and swiftly flung a large chunk of wall at it, as if swatting a pesky mosquito with a newspaper. Crushing that zombie mutation to pieces...
