The arrow was inches away from the tiger’s body. If not for the slightly poor aim, it might even have stabbed the baby tiger’s little body. Zerra’s heart nearly jumped out of her chest as her paws hugged the oblivious baby tiger, who was licking her face and not realizing the danger it was in. The gigantic tiger, however, roared in anger. Its thunderous growl reverberated in the forest, sending the birds scattering away. The tiger jumped out of the bushes, appearing in front of the two men. "How come it’s here?!" "We already traced its usual position... it shouldn’t have been here!" They had panicked looks on their faces while the tiger kept on advancing, walking toward them with a predatory gleam in its eyes. "Run! Run toward the others!" One of them yelled. Both turned around and ran in a certain direction. Zerra wrapped her tail around the baby tiger and the other around the tiger’s neck so that they wouldn’t fall. The tiger was running very fast, chasing after the two men like there was no tomorrow. All her fur exploded because of the wind, but she couldn’t persuade the furious tiger to give up its chase. After all, it involved the baby tiger’s safety. Any mother would be furious to see someone trying to harm their kids. After running for a while, she found the men quite tenacious and slippery. One of them was a wind ability user... Zerra’s senses caught the presence of some humans in the distance, and she frowned. The breaths of those people weren’t weak. What were they doing here? "Help! Help! The tiger is chasing us!" They shrieked as if they had seen a lake amidst a long drought upon spotting their companions. "Did I hear that right? A tiger?" "Damn it! What are these two bastards doing? Attracting a tiger out of all the animals here?" Zerra was now becoming more curious about their motive. What could be the reason for so many ability users to gather in one place? As she pondered, the tiger managed to grab one of the ability user’s necks and smashed him against a tree. The person collapsed to the ground with a pained groan. The other ability users immediately get ready and unleash their attack against the tiger. Fireballs were flying around, wind blades, and other kinds of power. The tiger evaded each attack, and soon, they noticed another presence on the tiger’s back. "Hey, what is that white thing?" "There is also a baby tiger... to provoke a tiger to such a degree, they must have touched its baby." They didn’t stop. All kinds of attacks came from various directions. The tiger grabbed a few more people and slammed them, leaving them with broken bones. These humans could notice her presence, but she had secretly spread the mutated mushroom’s powder, so they were affected by the illusion and wouldn’t see her extra tail. Alas, too many people were on the opponent’s side, and the tiger soon showed signs of disadvantage. "How about we kill this tiger at once? There will be no danger anymore if we go to the forest. Previously, this tiger was hard to track, making us wary of its presence, but now... the opportunity has presented itself." "It’s a great idea. What do you think, Boss?" The man beside him rubbed his chin thoughtfully before he nodded. "Aim at the baby tiger and the white thing on its back, make it more angry that it loses its rationality!" They all immediately went to execute the man’s order. Zerra was alarmed when she heard the man’s words. However, they really took the person’s order to heart. A group of ability users specifically targeting them both. It made her even more uneasy when a wind blade sliced the tiger’s hind leg. The smell of blood permeated her nose... Now, she felt a sense of urgency. The tiger was raging, but she still tried to communicate with it to calm it down. Her efforts were futile. Then, there was no other way. She was also scared she might turn into a human in front of these suspicious people with questionable motives. She spread her senses, trying to spot zombie animals in her surroundings. There weren’t that many, but it was better than nothing! Without hesitation, she summoned the zombie animals and told them to attack the humans. This content belongs to N0v3l.Fiɾe.net "Shit, this damn bird is biting me! It’s a zombie..." Panicked screams rang out around them, temporarily diverting some ability users’ attention away from the tiger. Seeing other animals other than itself, the tiger seemed to recover its sanity a little. It evaded their attacks and jumped away from the scene. "Hey, it’s running away. Chase after it!" They hurriedly went after the tiger after killing any zombie animals nearby. Zerra spread her senses again and controlled any zombie animals within her range to attack them. "Can you control those mutated animals?" Zerra asked the tiger. Unfortunately, her power was limited. She remembered the wolf pack leader from before, who could control mutated animals outside of its pack at will. The tiger should be able to do it, right? The tiger seemed displeased, letting out a soft growl. It didn’t like other critters invading its place, but... it followed Zerra’s suggestion. She was right. The number of animals this tiger could command was a lot more compared to her. In an instant, they heard screeching from all directions. A lot of mutated animals were currently heading their way, as if receiving a call from their ruler. "What is happening?!" Even the ground shook slightly. "Hiss, what is that in the sky? So many birds...ouch, they are attacking us!" Such screams were heard throughout the forest. "I already used the mutated animal repellent... how come they are still going after me!" No one could answer him because everyone was too busy protecting themselves. Not just birds; other small mutated animals were also going after the men. "It’s the tiger! It’s commanding those mutated animals! Kill it and the attack will stop," the leader screamed. Everyone turned their head toward the tiger, who was watching them. Zerra tugged on its ears, urging it to leave the place. She hadn’t found out what the motive of these men yet, but she didn’t want to risk the tiger’s well-being. Too many ability users here, and there was no guarantee they could keep their lives if they stayed there for too long. The tiger growled softly, understanding her words. It stared at the men besieged by countless mutated animals before speeding away. Zerra heaved a sigh of relief. Her gaze, however, was directed at the sight behind them. Even until now, she was still amazed. This sheer of control... was even more astounding than the wolf pack leader! It ignited her spirit! If she could control so many zombies someday, she could just sit back and have them at her beck and call. No need to fight by herself at all! Of course, she was merely daydreaming about it for now. If she really did that, she had to be certain that she had enough power to deal with whoever would try to get their hands on her or even get rid of her... like the Research Institute or even the human bases. "Let’s stop here for now." Zerra tapped the tiger’s neck again, motioning for it to stop. They were already far enough from those people. She got off the tiger’s back, followed by a little tail–the baby tiger. Her eyes examined the tiger’s condition. It was worse than she had originally thought. One of its hind legs had an arrow. "Please bear with it for a bit..." Zerra coaxed the tiger as she clutched the arrow, intending to pull it out. The tiger let out a purr, like a big kitten, but as soon as she pulled the arrow, its purring turned into loud roars. It was about to kick Zerra away with its other leg. She swiftly evaded and grabbed the bloody leg. Vitality flowed from her hand, regenerating the tiger’s wound and stopping the blood in time so that it wouldn’t experience blood loss. Zerra didn’t stop there. She went to the tiger’s every wound, small or big. After she finished, she lay on the tiger’s belly, extremely exhausted. The baby tiger jumped at her, and it didn’t take long until she turned into a human again. "I will go back to the cave." She told the tiger as she caressed the baby tiger’s head, who let out a purring sound. The tiger stood up, intending to follow her. She shook her head, thinking of Derek’s mental health. Now, she understood this tiger was really scary. More than ten ability users, who were on the verge of breaking through to level five, were no match for it. The tiger seemed reluctant, staring at her with its big eyes. She turned the other way and compromised, "I will find you again tomorrow." Only then did the tiger let her go, speeding away with the cub in its mouth. She headed toward the cave, and when she arrived, she immediately told Derek about what she had found. "Do you know what they are doing in this forest?" She narrowed her eyes when she saw his troubled face. "They might be looking for me..." he trailed off.
