They had taken care of the corpses, burning them so that they wouldn’t turn into some kind of monsters. Laziel also took care of the blood, splashing it with water so that the smell wouldn’t disturb them. They just didn’t expect that Henry and his subordinates would come to investigate. There were still a few spots where they could see traces of blood. After all, it was nighttime, and they only wanted to get rid of the fishy smell, not clean the place free of blood or erase traces. The moment Henry stepped into the restaurant, his gaze was trained on the middle-aged couple at a table quite a distance away from the door. Despite their age, they still looked somewhat young. "Are you two in the same group as these men?" Henry pointed to Sean and others. He had a strange feeling when he saw the couple, but obviously they were weaker than him. One had power lower than him and the other was an ordinary human. After he reached a higher level of power, he became more sensitive to his surroundings. His premonition of things had gotten stronger, and he had learned to deal with things calmly and less conspicuously. ᴛhis chapter is ᴜpdated by 𝓷𝓸𝓿𝓮𝓵※𝓯𝓲𝓻𝓮※𝓷𝓮𝓽 "Yes, we are," Alaric muttered, standing up. He stood vigilantly beside his wife. Henry was a little taken aback. His men reached him, standing behind him. Henry arched his eyebrows. "They are fighting against us? You don’t want to fight us?" He was testing them. In secret, Henry was studying the place–running his gaze around his surroundings to spot some kind of hidden trap. "If you want to fight, we can fight," Alaric said calmly as he dragged a longsword from below the table. Nerith clutched her husband’s arm tightly, shaking her head. Henry narrowed his eyes. "Are you the ones who killed our people?" Henry pressed. "Your people?" Alaric and Nerith exchanged glances. "A dozen men, right? They are the ones who were trying to hurt us first. We are just doing it for the sake of self-defense." Henry snorted coldly. Without warning, he suddenly attacked, conjuring a type of wind blades and aiming them towards the middle-aged couple. The moment he unleashed his ability, the image in front of him shattered, followed by chaotic scenes and earth-shattering explosions. Gasps and groans of pain rang out from around him. His pupils constricted, and his heart grew heavy at the realization. As the first explosion ended and the dust began to settle, he suddenly shouted, "Move back fast! Retreat to the door!" He took large steps backwards, pulling anyone he could pull along. The next explosion occurred, taking advantage of them still trying to register what was happening. It was unknown whether they were considered lucky or not, at least all Henry’s men who entered the restaurant were still alive. They just suffer some serious wounds. The powerful bodies of ability users had saved their lives. Henry’s face became twisted. He vigilantly looked around. The dust still hadn’t settled, but he could faintly make out the outlines of the figures he had spoken to earlier. The weaker ability user and the ordinary human couple weren’t dead. Instead, they were sitting on the other side of the room, far away from the opposite place where he had spotted and approached them earlier. They were looking at him calmly instead of with the worried and anxious expressions when they faced him before. "Is that how you all killed our men?" Henry asked. He seemed to be gauging something. He continued. "What kind of offense did they commit? If they tried to hurt you first, then indeed, they were in the wrong." Zerra didn’t miss her dad’s twitching mouth. Probably he had never met someone so shameless before. "The same offense you just committed, Henry." Nyra snorted coldly as she appeared from the direction of the kitchen, carrying the aura befitting her role of the main female lead! All eyes were instantly on her, filled with vigilance. She arrived beside her parents, regarding them with narrowed eyes. "Long time no see, Henry." Zerra crouched down not far from the kitchen door, watching the confrontation. She thought her sister looked a bit cool. Beside her, there was Laziel, who was watching the entire thing with some anxiety. Cassias was standing behind her, leaning forward so that his head was above hers. She had been anxious too when her parents proposed the plan to trap Henry and his men. Even if they objected, her parents’ reasoning was logical. Henry and his men would lower their guard if they faced weaker and unfamiliar people like them. With Sean and others fighting, they probably thought that both of them didn’t participate in the fight because they were too weak. Fortunately, nothing untoward happened. She was ready to stab Henry at any moment with her pitchfork. The illusion was conjured using the mutated mushroom Sean had spread. It had worked in creating an image that her parents were on the completely opposite side with Cassias’ mental power guiding the scenes they would see. "Was it all your plan?" Henry’s face hardened, his eyebrows knitted together with a displeased look. Nyra shrugged. Her eyes swept over the figures of Henry’s injured men, and her lips curled up mockingly. At this time, Sean and others had returned. Some people were bruised, so Zerra immediately took medicine from her inner space and handed it to them. Neither side lost nor won–it was a tie. However, Henry’s men, who had entered the restaurant with him, had suffered worse injuries. If both sides fought, it was unknown who would win. "I attacked because I sensed something was wrong. Turns out my instinct was correct. It was an illusion." Henry immediately changed his words. Cassias, Zerra, and Laziel had emerged from the kitchen and gathered together with the rest of their group. He was glancing at Cassias—his expression turned vigilant. Henry must have remembered the incident where Cassias had slaughtered countless zombies by himself. A calculating glint crossed Henry’s eyes. "If my people had done something wrong, then I will thank you for giving them the punishment deserved." He was so quick to change his tune. "I don’t need to deal with them myself then. I was unaware they were going around hurting other ability users. It will be bad for our base if ability users are too scared to come here because of people like them." He gestured to his people to follow him. With that, he turned around, intending to leave. A thin smile spread across his lips. "I will be waiting for you to visit the base." With that, they left. When Zerra and others went to the base, however, they weren’t surprised by the trouble they were facing. "Mr. Brown said that the base is undergoing inspection for people who have been breaking the rules." The human base’s gatekeeper told them. "Please come another day."
