Brunhilde squeezed every ounce of strength left in her battered body as she ran desperately away from her pursuers. Just as Siegfried and Captain Alfred miraculously survived, she too managed to survive the crash. However, she suffered severe injuries from the crash. As soon as she regained consciousness, she began searching for Siegfried while gulping down potions to recover. While she was searching for him, the angels spotted her and chased her down relentlessly. Since then, she hadn't been able to rest even for a single second, as she had to fight for her life nonstop. Brunhilde ran for her life while the angels chased after her. The constant exertion didn't give Brunhilde even a brief moment to tend to her wounds. She fought twenty-four hours, around the clock, in a desperate bid to survive. Had it not been for the Sacred Flame Sword that Quandt had forged for her, she would have been captured long ago. The sword transformed her mana into an aura blade infused with divine power, allowing her to slay the angels. But she was reaching her limits... Brunhilde staggered and almost collapsed to the ground, but she managed to stay on her feet by using the Sacred Flame Sword as a crutch. “This damned wretched.” “We would have already torn your limbs had it not been for the orders to capture you alive.” The angels surrounded her in an instant. ‘I... can’t move anymore...’ Brunhilde thought, despair clouding her mind. She tried to force herself to stay upright, but that in itself was a challenge. Her body felt as heavy as lead, and her willpower alone was no longer enough. One of the angels flashed a chilling grin and said, “They said not to kill you, but they never said we can’t cut you up.” Another held up a scythe and smirked, “We won’t kill you. But we will make you wish you were dead.” Slowly, the angels approached her, readying their weapons to cut into her flesh. A single gunshot rang. An angel advancing toward Brunhilde collapsed with a hole in his skull. Siegfried dropped from the sky and growled at the angels. “Have you lost your damned mind?” “D-Dear...!” Brunhilde was so exhausted that she could barely utter a word. “It will be all right now. I’m grateful that you’re alive.” He pulled her into his embrace before turning toward the angels with his +16 Vanquisher’s Grasp in hand. Then, a massacre occurred. The angels couldn't put up a fight against the enraged Siegfried. Every swing of his +16 Vanquisher’s Grasp carried his rage as he indiscriminately slaughtered the angels. Draculis watched in astonishment. He expected Siegfried to be strong, but he hadn't expected that he would be this strong. “Incredible... I didn’t expect him to be this strong...” Draculis muttered in awe. He couldn’t help but stare in awe at Siegfried wiping out the angels. Just as Siegfried recognized Draculis’ martial prowess, he, too, recognized the former's martial prowess. The last remaining angel’s head was smashed open, and his brain matter splattered all over the ground. Siegfried turned slowly to the Dragonkins, and the mighty Dragonkin Warriors flinched after seeing his face. His face after slaughtering the angels was so terrifying that it wouldn't be strange if someone mistook him for the Grim Reaper. However, his terrifying face lasted only for a second. “Are you all right? Come here.” His terrifying expression softened the moment he turned to Brunhilde. The Grim Reaper was nowhere to be seen. Instead, he looked like a gentle husband tending to his injured wife. “I’m fine... I just overdid it a little,” Brunhilde replied weakly. “You’re safe now,” Siegfried soothed her gently before carrying her in his arms. Then, he turned to Draculis and asked, “Would it be possible... for us to rest in your village for a while?” “Certainly,” Draculis agreed easily. It was clear to the Dragonkin that Brunhilde needed to receive proper treatment and rest, so he had no problem extending his hospitality to them. Thanks to Draculis’ hospitality, Siegfried and Brunhilde were able to rest in the Dragonkin Village and safely tend to their wounds. Brunhilde collapsed from exhaustion and fell into a deep sleep the moment they arrived at the village. ‘I’m really glad nothing serious happened to her,’ Siegfried thought while looking at her with a mix of relief and concern. She hadn't suffered any serious injuries, and she had avoided the worst-case scenario of falling to her death. If she had died, then it would have been something unbearable for Siegfried. ‘Never. I won’t let you die,’ Siegfried refused to imagine a world without her. Once he finished tending to her, he sat down with Draculis to discuss their next steps. Siegfried’s goal was to throw the Holy Sword: Phoenix into the lava crater at the peak of Mount Amon. Meanwhile, Draculis’ goal was to drive the angels out of his homeland. In other words, their objectives aligned, as they both had to eliminate the angels that took over the mountain. “How are you planning to proceed from here?” Draculis asked. “I will break through the angels and reach the summit,” Siegfried replied. “But that will not be easy. The angels we encountered earlier were not that strong, but the ones at the peak will be a completely different story.” “The angels you will run into will only become stronger the higher you climb. And Mount Amon is crawling with fearsome monsters.” “I am aware of that.” “And worse yet, even those monsters are somehow obeying the commands of the angels. This mountain has become far more dangerous than it used to be.” “Still, I have to break through them and reach the summit. Destroying the Phoenix is not a choice; it is something I have to do,” Siegfried said, his voice firm and resolute. “I am not trying to stop you but—” “My comrades will be here soon.” “All of them possess divine power, so they can fight against the angels.” “In that case... we might actually stand a chance,” Draculis muttered. Then, he pondered for a few seconds before saying, “Then we, the Dragonkin, will fight alongside you.” “No need to thank me. This is our home. We won’t sit back and let it fall into the hands of those Fallen Angels.” “Then, we should rest until my comrades arrive.” Siegfried had already sent messages to his comrades in the real world, so it was just a matter of time before reinforcements came. Until then, he had to rest up and recuperate for the battle ahead. ‘I’ll melt the Phoenix first... And then, just you wait, you damn overgrown bird,’ Siegfried growled inwardly. He was seething after being toyed with by the mythical bird for over two hours. This was no longer only about summoning Terra. This was now a personal matter, and he was going to capture that mythical bird, even if it was the last thing he would do. Around at the same time... “It seems Adventurers are gathering at the foot of the mountain, brother.” Atop Mount Amon, the Archangel, Auriel, who was currently possessing the body of an old woman, received the report from one of his subordinate angels. “I see... So they truly intend to destroy Phoenix.” “Their numbers are great, brother. We will need reinforcements to defend against them.” “That is out of the question. You know as well as I do that it is not easy for our brothers and sisters to descend into this world.” “Brother. These heathens will never defeat us. I promise you, not a single one of our kin will perish.” “To be more precise...” Auriel said. Then, he paused for a second before continuing, “We are invincible.” “What do you mean by that, brother?” “You will understand once the battle begins.” “So do not trouble yourself with doubts. Focus on exterminating those damn heathens later.” The angel felt uneasy for some reason, but he chose to trust Auriel and concentrate on the task given to him instead. Since an Archangel had spoken with such certainty, then surely, there had to be a reason behind it. “Son-in—I mean, nephew!” Siegfried was reunited with Hamchi, Seung-Gu, Yong Seol-Hwa, Gosran, Daytona and Yong Tae-Pung. Plus, they brought with them more than five thousand Adventurers composed of members of the Head Crusher Guild and the paladins of the Church of Heroes. They rushed over without hesitation the moment they heard that Siegfried needed help. ‘Whoa... So many people are here...' Siegfried was in disbelief after seeing the sheer number of Adventurers who had come here to help him. He barely spent time managing the Head Crusher Guild and the Church of Heroes. He was busy running around resolving one crisis after another, putting out fires here and there. And yet, here they were. Five thousand people had gathered for him. The Head Crusher Guild had just been recognized as one of the top ten guilds on the continent. Before Siegfried knew it, they slowly grew in both strength and numbers until they became a formidable force. Thanks to that, Siegfried could now properly devise a strategy to raid Mount Amon. He divided the Adventurers into three groups that would assault the mountain. This was the extent of his strategy, as the battle was quite straightforward. Unlike ordinary sieges, the angels didn't bother setting up cannons or any defensive fortifications. Aside from using the natural terrain of Mount Amon, the angels didn't bother fortifying themselves. Leading his guild members, Siegfried advanced toward the summit of the mountain. While marching, Siegfried noticed something was off. ‘Aren’t they being too sloppy?’ He activated Inzaghi’s Clairvoyance and quickly scanned the battlefield. He confirmed that around five hundred angels were up ahead. This caused Siegfried to tilt his head in confusion. His forces alone numbered nearly one thousand seven hundred, which was three times more than the enemy’s numbers. ‘Shouldn’t they be retreating right about now?’ Something indeed felt off, but Siegfried decided to issue the command to attack regardless. With a thunderous war cry, the one thousand seven hundred Adventurers charged at the angels. The Adventurers plowed through the angels, completely overrunning them. No matter how powerful they were, the sheer difference in numbers was simply too great for them to overcome with individual strength. The Adventurers used their divine power and numbers to mercilessly lynch the outnumbered angels. The last angel let out a cry before falling, and that concluded the first battle. It was an overwhelming victory for Siegfried’s forces. “Hmm...” Siegfried's eyes narrowed while staring down at the remains of the angels. Something was definitely off. “Kyuu! What’s wrong, owner punk?! We won! Aren’t you happy?!” Hamchi asked. “Something smells fishy here.” “I don’t remember these guys being so weak.” As soon as those words were uttered— —A bright pillar of light cascaded from the heavens, enveloping the Fallen Angels. One by one, the dead angels twitched and rose once more. It was one of the most annoying mechanics in BNW at work–Resurrection. The annoying skill that Chae Hyung-Seok at his peak once wielded was cast right before their eyes.
