A civilization with bizarre thoughts, of course, is cultivated by a bizarre history. The Half-sphere Civilization was born on "Karena Star," a planet only about 5 light-years away from the current position of New Human Civilization. However, the Half-sphere people had long abandoned their Mother Star, becoming a nomadic tribe, which in the history of interstellar civilization, is a quite rare occurrence... "Karena Star," true to its name, was a very beautiful planet. With the planet’s abundant iron elements, vast tracts of land were a burning-cloud-like orange, but the vegetation was emerald green and set against the pale blue ocean; these three colors intermingled and made the planet exceptionally beautiful. The first Epoch’s intelligent beings on Karena Star were not the Half-sphere people but the Duoball people. The Duoball people were taller than the Half-sphere people and looked significantly different. In terms of species, they were about as different from each other as humans are from chimpanzees. This "Duqiu Civilization" had a really long history, existing for millions of years. However, after entering the information era, the shift towards various entertainment trends derailed their technological progression. They began to indulge massively in virtual games that directly stimulated the brain, descending into a period of mediocrity. They exhausted the planet’s fossil resources, and their entire civilization became inward-looking without lighting the beacon of Controlled Nuclear Fusion technology. Thus, the Half-sphere Civilization was trapped on its own planet, living off solar energy, reproducing, playing games, and leading a leisurely life. If nothing unexpected happened, the Duoball Civilization would have continued for a long time, until it faced insurmountable natural disasters: perhaps an asteroid impact, the death of their Constant Star, or a gamma-ray burst from afar scouring the planet completely... They were the masters of their Planet, possessing Level 0.9 technology, and usually, planet-level natural disasters were not enough to exterminate this civilization. But the unexpected did happen! It wasn’t a natural disaster, but a man-made one! A notorious Level 5 Civilization, the "Green Star Civilization," happened to pass by "Karena Star" and was attracted to its unique geographical features. The beautiful "Karena Star" appeared like an exquisite jewel to the Green Star Civilization. Placed in the Milky Way, such beauty would be quite renowned. Also, because the "Duoball people" laid too many solar panels across the surface of the planet, which looked like patches of lichen, it greatly displeased the Green Star Civilization. Therefore, this peculiar civilization deemed the planet’s natives, the Duoball Civilization, to be destroyers of Karena Star’s environment and, under the guise of environmental protection, declared war on this native civilization. Zhang Yuan almost choked on his saliva. A Level 5 Civilization declaring war on a Level 0.9 native civilization was completely shameless! And they even put up a slogan making themselves seem elegant and righteous. If they were so mighty, why not provoke a Level 6 Civilization? As for the outcome of the war, of course, there were no surprises. As a Level 5 Civilization, the Green Star Civilization did not need to destroy these barbaric natives through conventional warfare. Explosions were considered a completely barbaric act to the Green Star Civilization. With just a flick of their fingers, the Green Star Civilization developed a specific genetic virus targeting the Duoball people. The virus was so powerful, resistant to cold, heat, and extremely contagious, yet with almost zero lethality—calling it a perfect virus was not an overstatement. Indeed, a perfect virus does not need a high mortality rate; otherwise, inhumanely speaking, isolation would let the infected die off. Contagiousness is what’s most important. Unbeknownst to them, the "Duoball people" began to be infected en masse, and since there were no symptoms, they didn’t even realize they were diseased. The Green Star Civilization left nonchalantly. The entire Duoball population breathed a sigh of relief as an incredibly powerful alien civilization suddenly declared war and then just as suddenly left, leaving them in utter confusion but thinking they had survived the calamity. But quietly, there were no more healthy individuals worldwide. After a lengthy incubation period, the virus suddenly erupted like a pre-set time bomb... Currently, human biotechnology still does not have the ability to manipulate genes in such a way. When the virus erupted, it did not directly cause individuals to die but instead invaded the hosts’ reproductive cells, destroying the Duoball people’s ability to reproduce! The Duoball people fell into a massive nightmare. That was the greatest malice of the Green Star Civilization—I do not kill, we never take any life, including intelligent beings. But these intelligent beings should not reproduce their next generation, and just quietly extinguish —this was their rationale. A hundred years later, the Duoball people, who fought against the technology of the Level 5 Civilization, nevertheless perished... Reading up to this point, Zhang Yuan let out a deep sigh. "What a misfortune... A native civilization living peacefully on its planet, although a Sinking Civilization. Yet a Level 5 Civilization came along and suddenly destroyed them..." The fragments of history can never fully convey the tragic disaster scene—a hundred years of struggle and despair, condensed into a sentence. "Alas, weak civilizations can only rely on the pity of others to survive; weakness is a sin after all." He envisioned the surreal scene where the Duoball people suddenly discovered that the entire nation could no longer reproduce, society plunged into total chaos, entering a doomsday scenario, scientific researchers struggled unto death, but still could not cross that one barrier. With the entire population poisoned and the technology not sufficiently advanced, it was indeed difficult to be spared... Fortunately, this notoriously Green Star Civilization had been eradicated by the Deep Red Industrial Union... Following that, with the extinction of the "First Epoch’s" master civilization, the Duqiu Civilization, the genetic virus also died out. The rest of the life forms on the planet were unaffected, which in a way demonstrated the Green Star Civilization’s manufactured virus was indeed very impressive. The virus was like a remote-controlled bomb, set to explode whenever desired—human biotechnology was still far from such a capability. After the extinction of the first Epoch’s intelligent creatures, the flora and fauna grew wildly on the planet, quickly burying various man-made structures. The laws of Nature became the only rule of survival on "Karena Star." From a certain perspective, the Green Star Civilization’s environmentalist ideology indeed proved very friendly to the other life forms, providing a better living environment without the constant exploitation of their habitats as before. Depending on different perspectives, different conclusions are drawn.
