---- Chapter 9 Laura was sobbing when she got to this point in her story. I had no idea something like that had happened. I started, "Your sister..." "Phoebe's dead. She took her own life, and I only learned about all of this in a letter she left behind, " Laura said. "I'm one of the people who led to Phoebe's death. "Tf not for me being so busy with work and wanting to make ends meet... If only I'd paid more attention to her... Perhaps she wouldn't have gotten together with that scumbag so easily. None of this would've happened!" I didn't know what I could say to comfort her. Was it even possible? "You threw the scumbag into the pigsty, didn't you?" She chuckled softly. "Do you know how much ---- effort I put into getting close to him? Do you know what I went through to get my revenge? Thankfully, it was all worth it. "T knew Winston had been in jail once. I tricked the scumbag into the mountains and killed him. Then, I stripped him and threw him into Winston's family's pigsty." "The clothes...'' I remembered the men's clothes and shoes Sean and I saw in Laura's old apartment. "T didn't expect the scumbag's underwear to be the one that got me caught. I didn't remove it because I thought it was too disgusting to touch. To think even the pigs didn't bother eating it because they found it repulsive!" She burst into laughter. I couldn't help imagining the scene of the pigs eating human flesh. My stomach turned, and my hair stood on end. "Why did you give Charcoal the bones, then?" ---- Laura's voice became more light-hearted. She seemed pleasantly surprised by my discovery. " You really are something, Keira. I did indeed feed Charcoal a bone. It spent most of its time with Winston's father in the countryside. When I was disposing of the body in the pigsty, Charcoal saw me. "I'd walked it frequently, but I was still worried it would turn on me. Besides, I was also worried that the pigs wouldn't be able to eat up the thigh bones. So, I chopped them off and gave them to Charcoal. If not for you seeing Charcoal, perhaps I wouldn't have gotten caught so soon." She was getting a little out of breath, perhaps from her agitation. I thought about it before asking, "Why did you keep the scumbag's clothes, then? You know the police would've eventually cottoned on, right? They would've nabbed you when you had such important evidence."
