After being discharged, Eleanor Winslow and Blake Lockwood met up and headed straight to the hospital where Mia Winslow was. Eugene Winslow and Yvonne Vance had just rushed back from the USA and were now sitting on Jude Winslow’s bed, showing him warmth and care. Mia Winslow seemed absent-minded, and when she saw Eleanor entering, she subconsciously stiffened. "Did I scare you?" Eleanor asked with a curious smile. Mia looked at Eleanor with a hint of subconscious fear in her eyes. She took a shallow breath and forced herself to calm down. Yvonne glanced at Eleanor and, unusually, didn’t speak. "Eleanor, you and Adrian encountered danger together. Why aren’t you at the hospital taking care of him but came here alone?" Eugene was very displeased, feeling his daughter hadn’t taken good care of her husband. Jude glanced at Eugene, then looked Eleanor up and down. Seeing her intact except for the bandaged hand, he asked, "Did you get a full check-up before being discharged?" ɴᴇᴡ ɴᴏᴠᴇʟ ᴄʜᴀᴘᴛᴇʀs ᴀʀᴇ ᴘᴜʙʟɪsʜᴇᴅ ᴏɴ 𝕟𝕠𝕧𝕖𝕝✦𝕗𝕚𝕣𝕖✦𝕟𝕖𝕥 "Yes, I wasn’t really injured," Eleanor laughed and replied. The young man’s words weren’t pleasant but showed he was the only one in the room concerned about Eleanor. "Dad, I have something I want to discuss with you," Eleanor said to Eugene. "What are you trying to say?" Yvonne was very alert, realizing her unusual attitude, she immediately put on a smiling face, "We’re all family here. What can’t be discussed here?" Eleanor didn’t mind discussing it with the whole family. The more people, the better. However, she glanced at Jude on the hospital bed— She didn’t want to involve Jude in these messy matters. "It’s nothing major. It’s almost mealtime, so let’s talk while we eat." "Eleanor, what are you trying to hide from me?" Jude frowned, full of displeasure. Talking while eating meant they would talk without him, the patient, right? Ordinarily, he seemed quite dull. So why was he suddenly smart in such a moment? Eleanor pressed her lips together. "Eleanor, do you think I’m an idiot?" Jude became even more unhappy. Eleanor sighed, "Let’s just talk here then." If he wanted to listen, so be it! Eleanor looked at Mia with a hint of interest in her eyes. Mia’s fingers unconsciously curled as she tried to hide her panic but felt a sense of anger—she felt Eleanor was looking at her as if teasing a dog! "Mia Winslow, about the car you asked me to help fix, did you know the brakes were faulty?" Eleanor directly cut to the chase. Mia was prepared for this and feigned surprise, "What? Brake failure?" After speaking, she looked at Jude, "Jude, that’s your car. Did you know about this?" Jude’s expression was a bit dazed, unable to react, with only one thought in his mind—if Eleanor was in his car, would she... "Eleanor, what do you mean? Do you suspect Jude tried to harm you?" Yvonne immediately jumped up excitedly. "Jude, what do you want to say?" Eleanor turned to actively ask Jude. Jude’s face was gloomy, and he opened his mouth, trying to explain something, but for a moment, not a single word came out. "Are you thinking that since the car is yours, if something happened to me in your car, then you would be to blame? If someone has to be responsible for my life, it must be you, and only you." With every word Eleanor spoke, Jude’s expression changed from shock to agreement, eyes sparkling with admiration. Eleanor was so smart, she could even know what he was thinking! Eugene was about to defend his precious son but then saw Eleanor suddenly turning to Mia and asking, "Mia Winslow, is that what you think too?" "Eleanor, I believe Jude wouldn’t intentionally harm you," Mia was ostensibly smoothing things over between Jude and Eleanor but was actually accusing Eleanor of slandering Jude. "I never said Jude harmed me," Eleanor smiled, "What I mean is, the person behind wanting to harm me thinks this way, trying to frame someone else to keep herself safe. Isn’t that right, Mia Winslow?" Mia’s face turned slightly stiff, "Why are you asking me?" Eleanor’s tone shifted from gentle to firm, her smile fading, and she asked Jude, "Jude, why did you overdose on medication?" "I had a fever, so I took some medicine from home," Jude answered honestly. "Did you take it yourself?" Eleanor asked. Eleanor stated directly, "Since you were young, you never knew how to take medicine yourself. It was Mia who got the medicine for you." Mia listed out the medicines she provided, all common cold and fever meds, with no apparent issues. Eleanor said, "Indeed, these medicines have no issue, but they contain similar active ingredients, and Jude has a bad habit of thinking the effect is quicker if he doubles the dose. He doesn’t even know some medicines are meant to be taken once a day, not thrice." Beside them, Eugene and Yvonne’s expressions changed as they knew Eleanor was telling the truth! "You think I intentionally harmed him?" Mia seemed gravely wronged, "Eleanor, Jude is my biological brother!" Eleanor ignored her defense, continuing, "Mia Winslow, you’re the one who asked me to come to the hospital and get the car repaired. Only the car’s exterior had minor scratches. If I drove to the repair shop myself or went with the repair staff, in case of an accident, the responsibility would fall solely on Jude, the car owner. Isn’t that so?" Jude looked at Mia in disbelief. He couldn’t believe it would be . Mia was his biological sister... "You’re talking nonsense!" Mia stood up, "Eleanor, do you really want to drive a wedge between me and the family? Haven’t you harmed me enough?" Contrasting with Mia’s agitation, Eleanor remained very calm, as if she didn’t care in the slightest about arguing with Mia about right or wrong. "Dad, Auntie Vance, I can’t check how Jude ended up in the hospital. The matters of this family, I have no right to interfere." Eleanor stopped after sowing the seeds of suspicion in their hearts! As for the rest, she believed Eugene and Yvonne cherished Jude more than she did! "I haven’t finished yet—the person who kidnapped me this time was Vincent Preston," Eleanor paused and curiously asked, "Mia Winslow, when did you get acquainted with Vincent Preston?" "You’re joking, Eleanor. Young Master Preston is notoriously notorious; how could I possibly be acquainted with him?" Eleanor’s sharp questioning caused Mia’s expression to almost lose control. She suddenly began to shout in pain, cradling her injured left hand. Yvonne instinctively moved to show concern for her but froze, seeing her son still lying on the hospital bed. Mia, feeling a pang of chilling indifference, only wanted to leave the scene: "Dad, Mom, my hand hurts, I need to see a doctor first." Eleanor strode over, intending to block her. Unexpectedly, as Mia opened the door, she was stopped by a man dressed in a business suit standing outside. Charles Rhodes smiled, "Miss Mia Winslow, where are you going?"
