Before entering the private room, Evelyn Clayton instinctively paused for a moment. But when she saw the room was empty, Evelyn’s eyebrows slightly moved. Tristan Hawthorne had been carefully observing Evelyn’s expression, and he caught that fleeting hint of something unusual. A brief flash of amusement flickered in his eyes. After everyone took their seats, Tristan handed over the menu with a smile, "I’m not familiar with the local dishes. Evelyn, why don’t you choose a few?" Evelyn didn’t refuse. She picked a few dishes symbolically and then passed the menu to Iris Lockwood and Yara Reagan. Yara wasn’t interested in ordering food, so she let Iris look at the menu herself. Then she glanced around and directly said, "I thought you guys would bring James Grant along." "He just recovered from an illness and is still recuperating," Keith Donovan replied coolly, "It’s better that he didn’t come, so as not to worsen his condition." Yara’s smile faded slightly. There was no doubt about the target of Keith’s words. Evelyn remained calm and composed, chuckling lightly, "It seems Director Grant doesn’t have great health." Keith’s face darkened. Tristan enjoyed seeing Keith at a loss but, considering they were brothers, stepped in to mediate, "What Keith meant was that since James can’t drink, it would dampen the mood if he came, so we didn’t invite him." Keith felt a bit ashamed of Tristan’s attempts to flatter Evelyn by belittling James, but he also knew he wasn’t a match for Evelyn in a verbal exchange, so he sulked in silence. Evelyn glanced at him, finding it amusing. "Not being able to drink is a small matter. If you can’t hold your liquor and make a fool of yourself, now that’s embarrassing. Don’t you agree, Tristan?" Evelyn smiled at Tristan. Tristan held back a laugh, discreetly glanced at Keith, and nodded, "You’re absolutely right." Keith instantly realized Evelyn was indirectly calling him stingy. He grew angrier, but on second thought, found that Evelyn’s words seemed reasonable. After holding it in for a long time, he finally couldn’t help but speak up. "Evelyn Clayton, I can’t argue with you," Keith admitted, "The things I said to you before were wrong. I apologize, I’m sorry." Seeing Keith’s somewhat sincere attitude, Evelyn smiled softly, "Director Donovan, you’re too polite." Keith felt frustrated by Evelyn’s indifferent tone, but having gone this far, it didn’t make sense to ruin things out of anger. So Keith suppressed his irritation and said, "Let’s not play games with this tone. We’ve known each other for so many years, it’s really unnecessary." Evelyn quietly listened, showing no intention of speaking. Tristan could see that Keith’s words didn’t resonate with Evelyn. So Tristan gave Keith a look. Keith saw it and had no choice but to shut up. Tristan pondered for a moment, then spoke with utmost seriousness, "Evelyn, first of all, I owe you an apology. The reason James could find out about your whereabouts was because I provided him with some hints." Evelyn’s expression softened slightly, and after a moment, she slowly asked, "Then what?" "Secondly, I want to say that learning about your whereabouts was purely accidental. The airport you flew to France from is owned by a friend of mine, so I got your information from him." "Although I admit there was some intentional concern involved, James definitely didn’t do anything like deliberately following you."
