But in these two days of life, she felt like she was living a mouse’s life. Yes, she was the mouse, and Leng Yan was the cat. A mouse shouldn’t approach a cat, and a mouse that falls in love with a cat is even more pitiful. Wanting to get close, yet afraid of being eaten; distancing herself, yet feeling miserable, it was truly a kind of torment. Maybe, she needed to cut ties with him, even if it meant not being basic friends. Xia Nuo was lost in thought the whole way, and when she reached the stairs, she was startled to suddenly see Leng Yan standing at the top. Leng Yan, who had grown taller yet again, stood there looking at her, his pair of deep, dark eyes made it hard for people to look straight at him. Clearly, he was still young, but had such complex eyes; it was hard to tell if he was mature beyond his years or if his mind was intricate. The two of them stood silently looking at each other. Strangely enough, she had always been afraid of seeing him before. Now that she saw him, she wasn’t as afraid anymore. "Come to my house, I have something to say to you," Leng Yan spoke first. Alright, she had something she needed to clarify with him too. Xia Nuo nodded faintly and followed him into his house. "Have a seat." He motioned for her to sit on the sofa and turned to pour her a glass of water. "What do you want to say to me?" Feeling him sit down beside her, she asked without lifting her head. Leng Yan didn’t answer but asked back, "Don’t you have anything to say to me? Don’t you want to explain why you suddenly left me that day and have been avoiding me since?" His tone was calm, yet his domineering manner left no room for refusal. Xia Nuo slid a bit to the side, distancing herself slightly from him before saying, "Regarding the events of these two days, I don’t need to explain to you. However, I do have something to tell you today." Leng Yan pressed his lips together, looking at her, waiting for her to continue. "I think you shouldn’t come to my house anymore," Xia Nuo mustered up her courage and said, "Now that your mom is very concerned about you, you should spend more time with her. As for you still liking me, I don’t want to be liked by you, so let’s not continue associating." After speaking, Xia Nuo looked down in distress, her eyes involuntarily moistening. Even if she hadn’t developed feelings for him, saying these words was still hard for her. They’ve been together for almost four years, and even if there were no other feelings, there was familial affection. Cutting ties with him suddenly made her heart truly ache. Leng Yan’s face turned pale, his eyes shimmered as if trembling fiercely. After a long while, he finally found his voice: "Xia Nuo, why do you suddenly not want me?" "..." It’s not that she didn’t want him; she just didn’t dare approach him anymore. She was a bad person. Clearly aware that he liked her, yet she continued to interact with him with a dismissive attitude, leading their relationship to grow closer and their feelings stronger. It was all her fault; she underestimated his feelings for her and underestimated his impact on her. To put it simply, she overestimated herself. Her wrist was suddenly grabbed and pulled back, making her fall back onto the sofa, her body tightly embraced by him. "Leng Yan!" Xia Nuo struggled in panic, but he simply held her tighter, not allowing her to move. "Xia Nuo, you once said not to let me like you. Fine, I didn’t want to trouble you and decided to be like siblings temporarily, so why are you still trying to escape?"
