The gun barrel swelled and exploded. A single bullet flew higher and higher, growing larger and larger, until it struck a giant snow pear, blasting it apart. Creamy juice sprayed in all directions, and chunks of cream of various sizes rained into the sea. The Nightmare Star was spared, only showered with a rain of cream. "A snow pear that big...?" Yang Yi stood up from the deck, uninjured. That last shot had been fired in Roar Mode, and the lookout platform couldn't withstand the recoil. It shattered, sending Yang Yi tumbling down onto the deck, where he got covered in the exploded pear’s creamy juice. "You okay? Did any of it get in your eyes?" Suna ran over and asked. "I'm fine. I don't fall for the same trick twice." Yang Yi replied. He looked like he’d been fished out of a vat of cream, his fur and clothes drenched in thick white goo. When he fired and fell, he’d used his shield to block the splattering cream, especially guarding his head to prevent anything from getting into his eyes. "Come on, let’s head inside. I’ve already arranged things on the deck." Yang Yi said to Suna, preparing to return to the ship’s cabin to get out of the rain. Back at the lookout post, he had already ordered the skeletal arms to take down the nets hanging at the bow and stern. All that remained to do was shaking off the fruit debris and collecting the nets, including the fishing net sections attached to them. Yang Yi stuffed the nets, now soaked in creamy white fluid, into his stomach, and was about to pull Suna along. "Wait, I need to collect some samples!" Suna picked up a few mostly intact fruits, ones that had just been shaken down from the nets. Then the two of them walked toward the cabin. But after just a few steps, Yang Yi suddenly stopped. "What's wrong?" Suna asked, puzzled. Yang Yi looked up at the sky, his brows furrowed. When he had fired upwards earlier, he thought he saw something. But no matter how hard he looked, he saw nothing, only the pitch-black sky and the constant fall of fruits. Unconvinced, Yang Yi switched to Three-Eye Vision and looked again. He could see a thick layer of clouds, from which the fruits were falling. Yang Yi shook his head and didn’t dwell on it. The two of them entered the ship cabin, out of the Rain of Delicacies, then exchanged information and washed the thick white goo off their bodies. "These ultra-delicious foods are definitely going to attract things from below the sea. It’s going to be a problem when that happens." Yang Yi shared his concern with Suna. He had already reverted to human form and wiped off the grime using cloth and fresh water. Suna nodded in agreement, though her gaze was fixed on the banana in her hand. The banana was uncannily lifelike, virtually indistinguishable from the real thing. Suna ran her fingers along its entire surface; even the texture felt perfect. Everything seemed ordinary until she used her fingernail to scratch the peel. From the wound, white juice began to flow... "Find anything?" Yang Yi suddenly asked from beside her, interrupting her thoughts. "Not yet. But this banana’s realism is off the charts. It’s structurally flawless, and even the texture matches exactly. I need to examine it under a microscope." Suna replied. Yang Yi glanced at the navigation log to confirm the time and Suna’s condition. There were still more than six hours until dawn, and Suna's stamina was at 42. "You can study it, but don’t get too into it. You need to sleep and rest. I’m giving you one hour, tops." Yang Yi said to Suna. She nodded and walked off towards the lab, still holding the banana. Yang Yi didn’t linger. He went to the cabin door to check the deck. Tʜe sourcᴇ of thɪs content ɪs 𝘯𝘰𝘷𝘦𝘭⟡𝘧𝘪𝘳𝘦⟡𝘯𝘦𝘵 Everything was running smoothly. The skeletal arms were busy cleaning up the broken fruit scattered across the deck. From the ship’s storage, Yang Yi pulled out a few thick, long planks of wood. He was planning to erect a rain shield at the bow to make steering the ship easier. After all, with giant delicacies potentially falling from the sky at any moment, the Nightmare Star needed to stay clear of danger in advance. Yang Yi had considered piloting the ship in his Penitent Armour., but it had one flaw: no system interface. He couldn’t access item info or operate the ship like a player could. So, Yang Yi had no choice but to steer the ship himself. He was still in good shape, so it wouldn’t be a problem to sail all day. One bottle of Vitality Coconut Juice would keep him sharp. Later, he could have Suna take over. The only unknowns were when the rain would stop, and when something from beneath the sea might rise. Yang Yi couldn’t predict it, so he had to keep a close watch while sailing. After pulling out four wooden beams, he prepared to build the rain shelter at the bow. But when he took out the Ripe Stomach Pouch, he was shocked to discover it had come back to life! Its name had reverted from “Ripe Stomach Pouch” to “Greedy Stomach Pouch”, with the exact same properties as before. The internal volume became 10 cubic metres. "How the hell are you alive again?" Yang Yi was caught off guard. Without needing any food input, the Greedy Stomach Pouch grabbed his hand and sucked it inside, followed by a licking sensation. It thoroughly cleaned all the delicious residue off his skin. Then he understood how it had revived. The tin-plated wooden planks and fishing nets inside had been completely licked clean, every last drop of creamy white goo gone. By consuming these hyper-delicious substances, the Ripe pouch had returned to life. It was nothing short of miraculous. "If I keep feeding it more of this kind of gourmet material, maybe... its storage capacity will grow?" Yang Yi mused. It seemed highly plausible. But it the time to test that theory. Getting out of danger was the top priority. He stored the beams in the pouch, grabbed his Crystal Shield, and ran towards the bow, gathering up some damaged gourmet fruits with his ring along the way. As for the rest, Yang Yi had no intention of keeping them. Hoarding hyper-delicious food in the cabin would just invite disaster. Once at the bow, Yang Yi assembled the beams onto the tin-plated wooden board, standing it up like a table to block food falling from above. Each beam was reinforced by several skeletal arms to prevent it from shaking during travel. With that done, Yang Yi focused on piloting the ship, keeping a close eye on anything falling from the sky. After sailing around twenty nautical miles, the rain of delicacies suddenly changed from a fruit course to all kinds of breads and pastries. It seemed that different regions had different types of falling foods. Yang Yi opened the chat channel to check what other players were experiencing, hoping to find someone not caught in the food rain. If such a player existed, he could ask for their coordinates, which would help him escape this region. "Damn, if I didn’t have a diving suit, I’d have drowned just now! That goddamn massive pizza!" "These foods look really tasty… what if they’re attracting things from under the sea?" "Wouldn’t be surprised. Better not pile too much food on your ship. It’s like inviting something to an all-you-can-eat buffet." Yang Yi scrolled quickly. No one mentioned being outside the food rain. But one message caught his attention: "You guys don’t feel like… there’s something up there? Like, something watching? Anyone else get that vibe?" "Nope. And I don’t want to." "I checked for you. Nothing there." Yang Yi couldn’t help but look up again. That guy felt the same thing he did, like something was above them. And Yang Yi had seen something. Just as the massive snow pear fell, he caught a glimpse of something above it... Once the thought took root, it wouldn’t go away. Yang Yi switched to Three-Eye Vision and looked skyward again. He could only see the thick clouds, along with the falling breads and pastries. And then… he saw it: a gigantic baguette. It pierced and disturbed the clouds, letting Yang Yi catch a glimpse of what lay beyond. What he saw was a massive, dangling hand, unfathomably huge, casually hanging down from an unseen height. And crawling all over this enormous hand there were countless tiny figures. They were tiny only in relation to the hand, because each one was actually enormous. They resembled ants, endlessly gnawing at the hand, eating until they were bloated and distended with fat bellies. As they chewed on the giant hand, crumbs fell: fruits, breads, pastries... The rain of delicacies was nothing more than the scraps falling from these creatures' feast. Once those scraps left the hand, they transformed into gourmet delicacies. Thank you for reading!
