Harry Potter and all of its characters belong to J.K. Rowling. I own nothing but the original characters I make. Chapter 221: Taboo Alchemy "What are you waiting for? Kill him!" the leader commanded them. If they couldn't leave, their only choice now was to fight. There were still five of them, and James was alone. Other than the fairy floating above them, but she didn't seem interested in attacking them, so they ignored her for now. "C-Crucio!" one of the Death Eaters shouted while aiming their wand at James… but nothing happened. "No way, why isn't it working?" James glanced at the masked boy. "Using an Unforgivable Curse is not as simple as just stating its name and moving your wand around. Didn't your beloved Dark Lord teach you anything before placing his mark on your soul and giving you that ugly mask?" Read complete versıon only at 𝘯𝘰𝘷𝘦𝘭⚫𝘧𝘪𝘳𝘦⚫𝘯𝘦𝘵 "Take this...Avada Kedavra!" From the leader's wand, a bolt of eerie green light shot out toward James. "That's more like it." James disappeared from the spot, and the curse ended up fizzling in the air before it reached the back wall. "Still, that was the weakest Killing Curse I have ever seen," James said. This startled the Death Eater leader as the voice came from behind him. "Ahh! …How did you get there?!" "Careful, Markus! He's using Apparition," one of the others warned him. "How can he use Apparition if we can't?" another one questioned, as the words made little sense. Anti-Apparition wards were always treated as a double-edged sword because they cannot distinguish between friend and foe. Everyone is restricted from using that type of magic while inside one of those wards. James had no intention of stopping to explain to them that he wasn't using Apparition to move around. In fact, despite how it might look, he was not teleporting at all, just moving extremely fast, to the point that it gave the illusion that he was disappearing. The method he was using was something one could only perform after mastering their Animagus form, allowing them to gain some of their animal's properties while still maintaining a mostly human appearance. He was changing too quickly for them to see, but just a fraction of a second before he moved, James's hair turned silver, just like his stag form, and then returned to normal after he was done moving. He was now able to push things even further... however, for opponents such as these, it would not be necessary. James produced a set of magical ropes that wrapped themselves around the Death Eater in front of him before the man could even think of how to retaliate. "Too slow." His target found himself completely restrained and fell to the ground. "K-Kill him!, Don't just stand and watch!" the leader screamed. He had lost his wand in the process, and there was little he could do from this position, but his four companions were still close by. Not that it was going to save him. The other Death Eaters were too inexperienced and couldn't even cast a single Unforgivable Curse. It only took James a minute before he had everyone paralyzed. "Mmm… they were all very weak," Nyxaris commented as she flew around the area. James stared at her, wondering if this was her way of suggesting showing them some mercy, as they were not much of a threat. 'Or maybe that is what I was thinking…' James had to remind himself that this was necessary. "It makes no difference," he eventually said as he threw another one into the cauldron. "They are enemies. And if I didn't use them, I would need to use someone else instead." He hated doing this. He was about to break one of the major taboos for alchemists...to refine living human beings. Objectively speaking, it wasn't worse than what he had done to create the Philosopher's Stone, and it was on a smaller scale, but for some reason, it felt worse. "W-wait!" The leader of these young Death Eaters was the only one left. "You said you only needed six!" He glared at the cauldron, which was now starting to emit black smoke from the top. "You have seven already! Let me go… please…" "I said 'at least'… why would I let you go? You are clearly the worst one of the bunch." "Your magic begins to change when you kill innocent people. There is a certain feeling around a wizard when they cross that line. It's subtle, but with enough practice, it's possible to detect this change." James walked closer to the man. "I… I have information!" he exclaimed. "Do you? Let me see…" James extended his hand, and the man's wand flew directly into it. "Legilimency." "Ahh!" The man's eyes turned white as paper when James broke into his mind with violence, shattering away all defenses. "Tsk… as I thought." James pulled himself back to reality after scanning the man's mind. "You have nothing that could interest me." This person was a very low rank in the organization and only received orders through some other Death Eaters. He had nothing that James didn't already know. "W-wait! Let m—ahhh!" James sent him flying into the cauldron with a single hand gesture and then commanded the other half of the black flame to levitate over the top of the cauldron. "I don't like doing this, but…" He stored his wand and used both hands to manipulate the flames. The black fire beneath the cauldron and the one above seemed to react to his commands and began to burn with more intensity. The humans inside the cauldron didn't have much time to suffer before their bodies were reduced to a primordial black goo that mixed with the flames. Nyxaris observed the process while giving her master an occasional glance of concern, as she understood how much he disliked using alchemy in such a way.
