---- Chapter 4. As Jason pulled me onto the ship, I couldn't hide the unease in my voice. "Jason, are you serious about this? You swore-you said you'd save my parents." He chuckled, the kind of low, lecherous laugh that never meant anything good. "Of course. Don't you trust me? Who else can you rely on now? Come with me for a few days, and when we're back, your dad will be good as new." I didn't trust him. Not entirely. But for my father... Thad no other choice. Once on board, someone blindfolded me. I couldn't see a thing-only the roar of sea wind filled my ears as we moved further out. Jason ordered someone to hand me a drink. I took a few sips, then everything went dark. By the time I woke up, we were already in international waters. ---- The deck buzzed with noise. The party had already started. Turned out, I wasn't the only woman on board. The others were all dressed to be looked at-tight dresses, bare skin, glasses of liquor in hand, laughing and cozying up to men whose faces I recognized. Jason's usual crowd: politicians, high rollers, pack leaders from old bloodlines. He always knew how to throw a party- offering women to charm the untouchables. Jason noticed I was awake. He crooked his finger at me. "Joy, you're up? Come over here-I've got people to introduce you to." Still dazed, I rubbed my head and walked toward him. He pulled me in close, then shoved me right to the center of the deck, putting me on display. "Everyone," he announced with a grin, "here comes tonight's main event." ---- The men turned, eyes locking onto me, amused and hungry. Their stares made my skin crawl. Jason picked up a bottle of Moonlight Wine, uncorked and half-empty. Without a word, he poured it over me. The icy liquid soaked through my already tight clothes, clinging to every inch of me. I trembled as the cold sank in. The wet fabric stuck to my body, revealing more than it hid. Heat rose in their eyes. Jason leaned down and whispered into my ear, voice sharp with warning. "This bottle is worth a fortune. Try anything stupid, and your dad won't ever wake up again." My heart thudded in my chest. I could barely breathe. But for my father's sake, I said nothing. I held still. Jason turned to the others again, grinning. "I've been saving this wine for something special. Now, tell me, do you think she's worth it?"
