---- Chapter 26 Madeline opted not to return to Gremlich. Instead, she submitted a request to her department to be transferred to Cyberton. Naturally, her only goal was to stay far, far away from him. As she stood in the heart of Cyberton, which was easily the busiest and the most boisterous part of the city, Madeline called the realtor on the phone. Thanks to the technological era, she was able to locate a studio apartment with a good location and a decent price via a rental app. All she had to do was double-check the studio's utilities in person. If there weren't any problems with the studio, she'd rent it immediately. Also, this studio apartment was just a ten-minute walk from the research center. Once Madeline confirmed the time with the realtor, she began walking in the amusement park's direction. She had absolutely zero idea that someone happened to be watching her from the car parked across the road. ---- Madeline soon arrived at the amusement park. Octavia found out from the weather forecast that Cyberton would welcome its first snowfall today. She claimed that watching the first snowfall on the Ferris wheel was an extremely romantic thing to do. Since Madeline had just returned to Loraynea, Octavia insisted on taking her to the amusement park to experience the romance of the first snowfall. There was something about the season's first snowfall that many people couldn't help but hold onto. That was why the amusement park was extraordinarily crowded today. As Madeline scanned her surroundings, she pulled out her phone in order to text Octavia. Coincidentally, Octavia called her at the same time. "T'm so sorry, Maddie! An urgent meeting took place just now. Apparently, I need to take part ina surgical operation at the last minute..." Octavia sounded very crestfallen on the other end of the line. ---- Madeline could vaguely feel Octavia's despair, so she began comforting her. "It's alright. We can watch the snowfall anytime we want. Your work comes first." "You're extremely lucky to see the first snowfall as soon as you've returned to Loraynea. I really wanted to savor that moment with you..." Octavia began sobbing out of guilt toward her friend. Madeline didn't know how to react to Octavia's tears. She could only comfort the latter for a little longer before ending the call. The next thing she knew, snowflakes began fluttering from the sky. Her heart, which had gone numb for far too long, began beating once again. Octavia was right. The first snowfall of the season really was breathtakingly beautiful. Madeline looked at the tickets to the Ferris wheel that were bought in advance. Then, she jogged toward that particular attraction. "Madeline!"
