Chapter 19 : In The Hospital Larry's POV I wanted to tell her I want her to stay with me . I wanted to tell her I wasn't sure of my feelings yet , but I don't want to lose her . I wanted her to understand that I think I might not be able to live without her , but she wasn't even giving me an audience . 1 had no option but to kiss her Our lips crashed , touching each other , but it only lasted for a moment . She doesn't even want me . She pushed me away and I stated into her eyes breathless , but then something was leaving her body . Her life . Slowly , her eyes closed and then she slumped . " Maya " I yelled , catching her into my arms . She doesn't stir , doesn't look like someone who was alive . Panic clawed at me as I carried her in my arms , taking her out of the party using the back door and not the crowded hall drive Getting to the car , the driver knew he had to drive without being told . " Hurry up , " I told him . I didn't mention a place , but he knew where to go . Soon , the car halted in front of the nearby hospital and I quickly took her into the waiting room as I had nurses put her on a stretcher and they wheeled her into the emergency room immediately . I stood in front of the emergency room where she was being diagnosed , pacing . She collapsed I couldn't stop trying to imagine what the doctors in there were doing , if they were able to revive her , or if she's still unconscious . Damn ! My head was spinning Then the doctor saved me the stress of the excess thinking as the door to the emergency room opened and he stepped out I moved over over to hum " How's she ?" I asked him , face cladded with panic " She's fine Still unconscious " he said and I breathed out in relief , though I was barely relieved . I had to see for myself to confirm that she was okay ww "Why did she collapse ? " I asked him , my voice now a bit calm . " She was stressed She must have been going through a lot lately . Sur " he said and I gulped . That was hellishly true " To ensure a quick and thorough recovery , it would be advised that she should avoid whatever it is that's causing her stress . I thanked him and he left They transferred Maya to a ward since she was now stable and I sat beside her , watching her face . It was Brandy " Hey , Larry . Where are you ? I've looked everywhere for you " she said , yelling over the phone because of the noise at the party - The gala party must have fully begun . " Maya collapsed . I'm in the hospital " I told her . " Wait , What ?? " She was yelling , and her voice as cladded in shock " Collapsed ? Hospital ? " She was in shock . " Where ? " She asked . I knew I wouldn't want to give a response to that if I wanted Maya to fully recover like the doctor had said . I hung up who had Thinking back to how everything started few weeks ago , I realized it was Brandy who had been causing problems between us . We were fine before she came , but when she came , everything started changing . But Brandy wasn't to be blamed for everything , Maya was also not understanding and the fact that our contract was ending was also a fact . I sighed , taking Maya's hand into mine as I caressed them thinking about our years together . It wasn't real . There was no love , but we were happy . We didn't talk much with each other , but we lived just fine . Shopping on some occasions , sleeping on the bed with backs to each other , distancing each other , acting like real couples . " I called , watching as she struggled to stand from the bed and I helped her into a sitting position . " What happened ? " She asked " You don't remember ? Then the door flipped open , making a loud sound I turned as Maya's gaze also went to the door . Brandy was standing , with Marvin by her side . She couldn't have gotten here without Marvin . He must have found out where Maya was within those few minutes . ad he Brandy must have been so loud earlier that he had heard her . Marvin moved over to Maya's bed as he stared at her . " Are you okay ? " He asked and she nodded . " Good . We will get the rest of the treatment in my home " he said and I stood up from the chair , holding his hand with a darkened gaze . " I will take care of her , Marvin . You can't take her away from here " I said , holding his arm while he was holding Maya's . " She will leave here with me , Mister . There's nothing you can do about it " he gritted . " No , there's something " I said , and our gaze both darted to Maya , our eyes telling her to choose . Failing Marriage Chapter 20 : Failing Marriage Maya's POV My gaze darted between the two of them . " What are you doing right now ? " I asked , voice etched with disbelief . They were almost getting into a fight just to determine who it didn't would take e care of of me . As much as that was supposed to excite " Decide , Maya . Will you go with him , or will you stay with me ? Larry asked It could be a chance to build back trust between each other , could be a slight chance of him wanting me to stay but I didn't want that , not anymore . " Yes Maya , decide . Who would you like to go with ?" The bitch who was taking Larry away from me said . Instead of thinking of it as a chance to get closer to Larry again , to turn things back to how they were before she came , I'd rather take it as a chance to distance myself from him . the gri " I'll go with Marvin " I said and Larry's face dropped and I could see the grin on her face . Marvin also smirked at Larry , making him know he had won . " Then , take a full rest here before you leave Larry said , "I will grab some of your clothes here " he added . Before I could give a response , Marvin spoke . There's no need for that , she can use my things " I could see how hurt Larry felt , but it was better that way . " Maya . When should we leave ? Marvin asked . " Now , " I told him . I stood up from the bed , not sparing Larry or Brandy a glance as Marvin aided me out of the room Walking out of the ward , down to the lobby and out to his car . He opened the door for me and I got in . " Would you like to get a check - up in another hospital ? " He asked . " I just wanted to get you away from those people , " he added " I'm truly fine , Marvin . Let's just head to your place " I told him . He didn't argue , and just got into the driver's side of the car as the car went into motion . Soon , we were at his house and I couldn't help but marvel at how big the mansion was Way more bigger than Larry's mansion He placed his hand at my lower back , guiding me in " You know , Maya Most times , I always think we could have grown up together in a place like this " he said and I could feel the hidden pain in his words . " If you don't want to go back there , you don't have to " he said and all I did was nod . Our parents weren't poor , but we also weren't rich . They just had enough to feed us and send us schooling Yet we were happy . I headed back downstairs and could smell the aroma of steamed potatoes in the kitchen . I walked over there and leaned on the door frame , watching as Marvin cooked . " Whatcha cooking ? " I asked him . My voice came out low as I was still feeling weak " Making potatoes with ketchup , " he said , grinning . " I figured out that eating our favorite food might boost your energy , " he said . A faint smile erept up on my face . Potatoes . They made me remember Larry . He couldn't eat those , and because of that , I made sure to stay away from the meal even when it was my favorite I bet he never found out that I don't eat potatoes because he doesn't like them . " It's d doner He said , as he stirred the mashed potatoes together That made me snap ap out of t of my réverie . He took them to the dining , and sat me down . I'd always cook this for him before I rush out to work at the nearby convenience store " Taste it " be said and I did exactly that I nodded my head as I munched on the potatoes . They taste great , " I told him We ate in silence and when we were done , I stared at Marvin as he stared at his phone . I had been thinking long and hard about the decision I wanted to make , about how I wanted to solve the problems I was currently facing . " Marvin , " I called him " I think I've made my mind up " I said , then he gave me his full attention "What's that ? " " I will go back to Larry , " I told him . His gaze shot up in surprise as he readjusted himself on the chair . " Maya ... " Tve thought about it long and hard . Even though it's a contract , it's still my marriage . I shouldn't run away from it because of some intruder I said , gulped , then continued " I will take this to the end , Marvin . And I don't need you to get involved " I told him . But my confidence was wavering , I was doubting myself if I could really do that or not . But still ... I want to believe in myself . That I could save this failing marriage .
