Jasper looked toward Chloe as she bent over and whispered to him. He was never scared, but when he saw her protect him unconditionally, an unfamiliar warmth spread through him. He lowered his head to hide his tears. He shook his head. "It was Great Uncle. He took me with him to look for Daddy. He then dumped me in a deserted park." Jasper's voice was soft and not as cheerful as usual, invoking the protective side of those who heard him. "You're an outsider here. You have no right to speak." Jonathan panicked. He pointed at Chloe and said agitatedly, "You and Jas probably cooked up a scheme together while on the way here. Stop falsely accusing my dad." "That's right. Leave now or we'll beat you up." Preston had long found Chloe an eyesore. She had stirred up such a huge commotion in the Whitman family in the past. And though she and Joseph were now divorced, she still refused to leave. 'Is she here to grab Joseph's wealth after finding out he's dead? Yeah, that's probably it. Geez, I've never met anyone so shameless!' Jasper stood before Chloe and shielded her. Though he was small, he carried a great power. Looking at them coldly, he challenged, "Try it and see what happens to you." Since his father was not around, it was his duty to protect Chloe. Harold, who had been playing dumb, was now satisfied. Jasper was an exact younger copy of Joseph, and making him the heir was a possibility. He was at least much better than the two idiots before him. Preston was livid, and he yearned to swing his fists. "You're a Whitman, yet you're siding with an outsider? Since your father isn't around, I'll teach you a lesson on his behalf, you ungrateful bastard!" He picked up a feather duster and waved it at Jasper. But before Preston could land a hit on Jasper, Chloe grabbed hold of the feather duster, leaving Jasper unharmed. Her words rang with reason and truth, and Preston was struck speechless. His face turned flushed as his mouth opened and closed soundlessly. His actions made him look rather hilarious. Harold nearly burst into laughter at the sight of this satisfying scene. Chloe glanced at him, and he quickly pretended to be weak and pitiful again, adding in a few fake coughs for good measure. "Chloe, I'm glad you're here. Otherwise, they'd bully me too." Jonathan's lips twitched. "Grandpa, please don't say such nonsense. We only have respect for you." Chloe's anger rose at these words. "Stop lying through your teeth! Look at how scared Grandpa is! Do you think I'm blind?!"
