The brilliance of the stars spilled over the silver metal platform, with scattered clouds undulating at the edges of the colossal machinery. The bloodied girl violently tore open the tightly closed hatch from the inside, lifted her head, and looked at the stars in the sky. She clutched a folded metal ’scythe’ in her hand, casually tossing the remaining half of a monster back into the cabin. The flesh of that monster decayed in mid-air and vanished rapidly. The girl turned to glance behind her. The corridor illuminated by bright lights was covered in fresh bloodstains, but there were no complete corpses. She looked down at her blood-covered pale palm. Those corpses had ultimately all become her strength. The girl’s gaze finally fell upon the closed ’coffin’ floating not far behind her. In this moment, she finally understood where her power truly originated. She did not know whether the invisible strength came from the girl in the coffin, akin to a Holy Spirit, or from some even higher being. But she knew that all of this was probably related to ’Brother Hao Yi’. In this world filled with Transcendent beings and Great Powers, no one would bestow their Grace upon a girl who had nothing, except for that person. That girl in the coffin had only appeared at the beginning after arriving at this Floating Base, standing by her side and teaching her some combat skills to ’control’ the power. Soon after that, it seemed that due to some situation, she fell into a deep sleep, and since then that closed coffin has never opened again, just floating behind her. Lin Chichi was not someone with a high Martial Arts Talent, but she forced herself to remember every move the girl in the coffin had taught her and continually learned and comprehended in battle. This Floating Base was filled with various testing grounds, which in turn were densely packed with all kinds of monsters. She had plenty of time to learn how to utilize those skills, and there were more than enough opponents to serve as her ’sparring partners’. Eventually, she fought her way through the entire base, arriving here. The girl in the coffin guided her to eliminate the base’s ultimate enemy; only then might she truly leave this place and return to the real world. And so, she fought her way here. She did not know how strong she had become, but she had probably surpassed the C-level heads of the Research Institutes around and might even have reached the legendary B-level. She could not control these powers very well, often destroying things due to the power getting out of hand, but fortunately, there was nothing here that needed to be preserved. And she also knew that these powers were only temporary. Strength gained through Sacrifice was slipping away at any moment, and if she just stood there without moving, waiting for some time, her power would naturally fall. A slight cool breeze brushed across the girl’s cheeks. She stepped beyond the hatch and onto the metal platform at the very top of the Floating Base, with the floating coffin closely following behind her. The glow of the stars spread beneath her feet, and she lifted her head, looking forward. On this towering platform stood eight silver square metal pillars. These metal pillars, about four meters wide and over twenty meters tall, were lined on both sides of the platform, like two rows of dignified soldiers standing before the girl. Apart from these eight metal pillars, there was nothing else on the metal platform. Gazing at the towering metal pillars, Lin Chichi sensed a faint hint of danger emanating from them. The monsters that approached this metal platform were getting stronger, and the direction the girl in the coffin had last pointed to in her deep sleep was also here. This meant that she had likely reached the most dangerous place of the Floating Base, the final ’Battlefield’. Only, this final battlefield was starkly quiet and lonely, quite unlike the ’lively’ testing grounds within the Floating Base. The girl tightly clutched the scythe in her hand and began to walk forward step by step along the flat metal platform. And just as she crossed some invisible boundary, the eight standing metal pillars suddenly trembled. Following the thunderous noise, these pillars suddenly extended along invisible lines, transforming into a series of metallic chains that seemed to be various polished mechanical structures linked together. These eight metal chains drew close together in an instant, then entwined around each other, eventually converging into a colossal tower-like metallic structure standing dozens of meters tall. Then, the metallic edifice swiftly unfolded itself, with metal structures interlocking to form a gigantic mechanical giant that appeared before the girl. A sort of scattered, twisted whispering began to echo around the girl’s ears. Those whispers goaded her to seek out grand architecture, stunning wonders, designs that could change the world. In response to these fragmentary whispers, the girl merely took a deep breath, closed her eyes, picked up the metal scythe in her hand, and then leaped forward with a sudden bound. Underground Research Institute Crossing over the boiling magma, He Ao stepped onto the well-constructed concrete floor. He raised his head to gaze at the magnificent structure clinging to the rocky magma cliffs. Compared to the ruins after their collapse, the still-intact Underground Research Institute appeared especially majestic. He Ao looked down, sweeping over the carved inscriptions on the stone before the Institute. [Federal Starry Sky Institute] Then He Ao raised his head again, taking a glance at the starry sky above. Twenty thousand meters underground, there was a starry sky identical to that above ground. Starry Sky Project... Perhaps this underground one was the true "ruins of the starry sky"? He Ao withdrew his gaze, bowed his head, and looked toward the tallest building of the entire Institute, then proceeded to walk toward it step by step. At this moment, the building was not as dark as the one He Ao had seen in Jie An’s Bubble Space; the bright light overflowed through the building’s windows, echoing the burning magma outside. Soon, He Ao arrived at the building’s entrance. The bright light illuminated the spacious hall, as if waiting in silence for a visitor from afar. He Ao lifted his foot and stepped into the hall. Unlike the gloomy, dark, and dusty halls of his memory, the place he now stood almost every corner was filled with ’warm, pure’ light. He Ao looked up at the ceiling. In the center of the building was a skylight that pierced through the entire structure, and from the lobby on the first floor, one could look up to see a sky full of stars. Rooms crowded around the enormous skylight, and those closed pure white doors, shrouded in soft warm light, appeared as reflections of the stars in the sky. The building was so quiet, devoid of any human presence; the ’illusionary’ people seen everywhere had vanished without a trace, leaving only the icy architecture and the pervasive ’warm’ glow. It was at this time He Ao noticed there wasn’t a single lit lamp inside the building, yet there was no darkness to be found. In that instant, he suddenly perceived something, lowered his head, and looked in front of him. Somewhere not far in front of him, on the previously empty hall, there now stood a silhouette facing away from him. A faint, hazy light covered the figure, obscuring his form. He Ao stared at this figure, feeling the ’holy’, ’pure’, ’luminous’ twisted thoughts spreading from it, and frowned slightly. It was not entirely Jie An. At that moment, the silhouette also turned around, eyes closed, with a strange smile on its face, facing He Ao. He seemed to have fallen into a sort of uncontrollable deep sleep, as though he was in the midst of a beautiful dream. He Ao activated Super Memory, retracted the marker he had placed on Li Cheng and placed it on ’Jie An’ before him. The twisted and chaotic thoughts instantly surfaced in He Ao’s mind through the connection. ’Jie An’’s own consciousness seemed to have sunk into some deep ’slumber’, while in its place, controlling his body, was a fragmentary, distorted, and chaotic consciousness tinged with a thick presence of contamination and madness. At this moment, in the view of Super Memory, covering this body, besides Jie An’s original soul, there was a broader, incomplete soul. So, was this the reason for the unseen force that ’abducted’ Jie An? He wanted to use Jie An as a "base" to create a stronger Evil Spirit Angel? Although He Ao had already suspected that Jie An might be under some kind of "severe limitation," even possibly lacking self-awareness, the fact that he had directly "fused" with that Evil Spirit Angel had caught him slightly off guard. Of course, it was only a slight surprise because from the experience in the Bubble Space before, He Ao had roughly guessed that the Angel in this Underground Research Facility and Jie An might be of the same kind. Since those behind the scenes had bound Jie An, it was improbable they wouldn’t use his link to the same vein of Mysticism to strengthen the Evil Spirit Angel. However, from the current situation, it seemed that the fusion between the Angel Evil Spirit and "Jie An" wasn’t very integrated due to He Ao’s hasty arrival, which meant its enhancement wasn’t substantial. The power of the "Radiant Evil Spirit" before him still fell far short of that of the Regicide Evil Spirit, but it was considerably stronger than the Mechanical Giant Angel Evil Spirit that Lin Chichi had encountered at the Floating Base. Perhaps this also had to do with the original strength and leanings of these Angels. The Regicide Angel was the strongest in life and inclined toward slaughter, resulting in the creation of the strongest Evil Spirit. While these thoughts flashed through He Ao’s mind, a series of twisted "warmth" radiated rapidly from the turned body of "Jie An," covering him like a curtain, and quickly converging into a radiant giant of several dozen meters high in the broad hall. This radiant giant opened its Giant Mouth and ejected a spherical light orb that smashed towards He Ao like thunder. He Ao looked up at the incoming spherical light orb and rose to step back. As he retreated, the light orb immediately turned and pursued him. At that moment, another new light orb was ejected from the mouth of the radiant giant, flying toward He Ao. He Ao looked up at the two incoming light orbs, leaped up, and landed directly on the railing on the third-floor corridor surrounding the atrium. The two light orbs instantly changed direction, chasing He Ao from above and below. In the instant the two light orbs were about to make contact with his body, He Ao leaped out again like an arrow, squeezing through the gap between the two light orbs. With a loud noise, the two light orbs collided, bursting forth a brilliant radiance. Countless pieces of rubble scattered, blowing a massive hole in the inside of the building. The surging fiery-red magma faintly revealed itself through the opening. At that moment, against the backdrop of that scarlet glow, He Ao in the air closed his eyes, then quickly opened them. Two nested orange-gray circles of light appeared in his pitch-black pupils, blood instantly filling his skin, and above his head, a giant eye framed by an orange-gray inverted triangle slowly materialized from the void, looking toward the direction of the radiant giant. The lines of Truth making up the entire world reflected into He Ao’s field of vision. For those lurking in the shadows, using Jie An as a base to enhance the power of the Radiant Angel Evil Spirit might be a good strategy. It might even make He Ao, the "attacker," hesitate to take action for fear of harming his ally. But for He Ao who possessed the Eye of Truth, such crude "grafting" and fusion method had inadvertently created a huge weakness for the Radiant Angel Evil Spirit. And the brief fusion time with low integration degree further magnified this flaw. Next, all he needed was an opportunity. He Ao looked at the body of the radiant giant; through the gaze of the Eye of Truth, he could still see Jie An inside the lower abdomen and chest of the radiant giant. This radiant giant also had energy convergence points, which were all gathered inside Jie An. He Ao in the air took a deep breath, gripped the black Broad Sword, and slashed at the luminous giant. The pure Qi of Heaven and Earth left by the Martial Arts Elder kept merging into new Divine Sense with the circulation of internal energy, guided through He Ao’s body. Almost every instant, He Ao’s physical fitness was rapidly growing. Facing the approaching He Ao, the radiant giant raised its head, its empty "gaze" fixed on He Ao. In that instant, He Ao felt as if all thoughts in his mind were abruptly "pulled out," leaving only pure emptiness in his brain. The radiant giant took the opportunity to reach out, attempting to seize He Ao in midair. Simultaneously, the gaze of the giant eye in the sky swept across He Ao’s body. The invisible force acting upon his body was instantly undone. He Ao looked at the giant hand reaching toward him, pulled out a spear made of Black Rope, and as its tip touched the radiant giant hand, he used the momentum to dodge upward. As he dodged, He Ao hurled the black Broad Sword at the radiant giant’s left shoulder. The radiant giant swiftly raised its other hand to block the incoming Broad Sword, instinctively shielding its abdomen and chest with one hand and opening its mouth to expel another light orb at He Ao. The black broadsword was slapped aside by the giant’s palm, splashing onto the corridor of the fifth floor nearby. However, his hand was cut by the blade, oozing blood that glowed with condensed light. During this time, He Ao’s body had already flown to the opposite side, at the fourth floor position. He looked at the pursuing orb of light, drove the black spear in his hand into the wall, then grasped the tip of the spear and pushed down violently with force, propelling his body up in an arc through the sky before once again flying towards the giant’s right shoulder. Retrieve objects from the air! The black broadsword appeared in his hand instantaneously; he raised the blade and slashed downward fiercely. The radiant giant hadn’t anticipated He Ao’s sudden attack, reacting a bit too slowly. The black broadsword pierced into the giant’s right shoulder and He Ao immediately attempted to pull the blade down, trying to sever the giant’s right arm. But by then, the giant had reacted, reaching out quickly to slap him. He Ao let go of the sword handle, plummeting downwards. The pursuing orb of light was just in time to be struck by the giant’s palm and with a thunderous explosion, the giant’s right shoulder was suddenly blasted open. Viscous, radiant blood spattered out. The black broadsword, enhanced and covered by Divine Sense, indeed could damage the giant’s body that seemed somehow between incorporeal and solid. He Ao’s body slid down from the sky. Retrieve objects from the air! The black spear stuck in the wall reappeared in his hand. Holding the spear, he spun his body in mid-air, the tip of the spear touching the ground. The shaft of the spear bent and then, with sudden recoil, sent his body once more into the air. This time, he flew towards the giant’s left shoulder, which hadn’t been touched by the attack yet. Because his right shoulder had been blown apart, the radiant giant’s right arm exhibited a brief dysfunction. It seemed due to the fact that he’d just been hit by his own orb of light - he opened his mouth but didn’t shoot out a new orb. The force that pulled away thought grew increasingly potent against He Ao, began trying to spread through He Ao’s body, "clear" and "assimilate" his flesh and blood. He Ao could clearly feel his body becoming stronger, but the power he could wield was dwindling, and at the same time, his thoughts seemed to slow down, and his ’hostility’ towards the radiant giant in front of him was diminishing. Warm white radiance continuously seeped out from beneath his skin, yet under the "gaze" of the eyes in the sky, it quickly dissipated. At this time, the radiant giant seemed to realize that He Ao was aiming to disable his hands first; his left hand immediately raised, slapping towards He Ao in the air, blocking He Ao’s tendency to fly towards his left shoulder. Meanwhile, two pure white orbs of light were spit out from his mouth, but they didn’t chase after He Ao; instead, they swiftly drifted towards the position in front of his lower legs, ready to intercept any of He Ao’s potential attacks on the legs, and block He Ao’s retreat. And his right hand blocked the direction to his right, cutting off the possibility of He Ao suddenly turning to attack the right side. While these preparations were being made, that massive left hand had already started coming down. Even though He Ao had just made a few effective attacks, the power gap between him and the radiant giant was still very great. If he really were to be hit by a strike, his entire body would probably explode directly in mid-air. He Ao lifted his hand, the black spear reappearing in it. The sharp spear instantly pierced the radiant giant’s left hand, but this action was also hampered by it. But He Ao, as if he had already anticipated this, pushed down fiercely, using the force of the radiant giant’s blow to propel his body even more rapidly towards the unobstructed lower half of the radiant giant. The radiant giant’s glowing visage flickered as if mocking He Ao’s petty skills. In the direction where He Ao was headed, by the thigh, two orbs of light had already been looming there. He had anticipated He Ao’s strikes on his hands and legs. Retrieve objects from the air! The black broadsword, smeared with glowing blood, once again appeared in He Ao’s hands. The radiant giant seemed to realize something and immediately raised his hand to grasp downwards, but it was already too late. He Ao hadn’t fallen towards the thigh’s position; instead, he had raised the black broadsword high, in the area near the chest and abdomen. The sharp broadsword, with a force previously unseen, split open his chest and abdomen, exposing the ’man’ that was enveloped within his body.
