---- operating room, they ran into Dr. Lloyd and Dr. Vance. Ivy was in no state to care about anything else. She ran up to Dr. Lloyd and pleaded, ''Please save my dad! He's in critical condition right now. Someone named Toby Clayton once got an appointment here with you! Do you still remember that?" Dr. Vance took a closer look at Ivy before asking tentatively, "You're Abel's wife, right? He once got in touch with me through Dr. Lloyd and said he hoped I could check on his father-in-law. I saw a photo of you on his phone. I even said he was a very thoughtful son-in-law. "However, he came to me days ago and said the consultation won't be needed anymore. What's going on now?" Ivy whipped her head up in shock, her eyes filled with disbelief. All along, she and her family didn't believe I had the means to arrange an appointment with a top medical expert. They assumed it was Toby who did ---- all of that. Only now did they realize they'd been wrong about me. For a moment, Ivy didn't know what to say. Dr. Lloyd had to pull her to the side and say apologetically, "I'm truly sorry, Ms. Hart, but we have to catch a flight to Meronia for a conference. I'm afraid we won't be able to participate in the surgery. "However, rest assured that our team of medical experts here is the best in town. We will certainly do our best to help your father." Once he finished speaking, he and Dr. Vance took their leave. Later on, Dr. Lloyd filled me in on what happened. Ivy fell to her knees outside the operating room. Cora was also beside herself with regret. "What did I tell you? I said that despite how shameless Abel was, he wouldn't have joked around with something like that. But none of you believed me! Well, look at what happened. If ---- anything happens to your father, you're the one to blame!" Her furious shrieks made the baby cry, but she simply dumped him on one of the plastic chairs on the side. "What's with all the crying? All you do is cry all day! Were you put on this earth to torment us?" Alas, Ivy couldn't be bothered to tend to the baby, either. She slowly pulled out her phone to call me. Perhaps I was the only one who could get in touch with a renowned expert who could perform the surgery Fred needed. However, she couldn't reach me. By that time, I was already on a plane heading abroad. I leaned my head against the window and watched as the city slowly disappeared from view. The plane steadily made its way up into the sky. It didn't feel real to me yet. Nevertheless, from this moment onward, I was leaving my home country for good. I was dedicating myself to the world.
