Gao Yang was trying extremely hard to make the preparations more thorough, while Number Thirteen was diligently ensuring that Osa and Karima wouldn’t meet. Aside from going to the site to scout, Antonio was at home figuring out how to open the safe, the model of which he had already learned. Meanwhile, Karima was putting in an effort to play the role of an assistant well. Finally, the morning of the twenty-sixth arrived. A little after eight, the group huddled in front of the TV erupted in excitement because the polls showed that, as expected, Poloneshenko won the victory. Gao Yang and his group might be the people who wished for Poloneshenko’s victory the most, apart from Poloneshenko himself. Antonio burst out laughing while Gao Yang, too excited to contain himself, shouted, "We did it, we did it! Act according to plan, move out!" Of course, Poloneshenko had contingency plans for what to do after winning, and how to do it, and now Gao Yang and his team knew about these plans as well, so once they confirmed Poloneshenko’s victory, all they needed to do was act according to Poloneshenko’s schedule. The group hastily drove off, first to a desolate corner where they switched to a car Shava had stolen and left there, and then continued toward Poloneshenko’s house. Gao Yang was someone who preferred to have all preparations complete before taking action, but this time, the plan wasn’t exceptionally thorough, nor were the preparations very comprehensive. However, once the timing was right, they had to act; in the face of the best opportunity, some hasty prep work was entirely acceptable. After driving directly to Poloneshenko’s house and stopping, Taylor opened the car door and jumped out, slinging a backpack over his shoulder and giving a thumbs up. Gao Yang drew a Taser gun, hid it under his suit’s coat, and asked, "Are you ready?" Ortonio donned a large pair of sunglasses, looked like a baseball cap, and layered on a hoodie over his head. Yet, he was now undoing his disguise, removing the hoodie to reveal the black suit underneath. The suit was Antonio’s disguise. Antonio was holding a briefcase, which he passed to Gao Yang with a loud voice: "Watch it carefully for me, let’s go." There was no rallying, nor reconnaissance; the three of them headed directly toward Poloneshenko’s home entrance, with Karima only softly whispering to be careful behind them. Antonio led the way, with Gao Yang carrying the briefcase in one hand and gripping a gun hidden under an open suit coat with the other, following behind Antonio. There’s wisdom in the saying: ’A guilty conscience is a self-accuser.’ Even though Gao Yang had seen a lot of action, and could kill without blinking an eye, regardless of the danger, he guaranteed not to gasp. But now, Gao Yang felt so nervous that his heart almost jumped out. Taylor was even more tense than Gao Yang, as Gao Yang could hear his rapid breathing. Again, ’A guilty conscience is a self-accuser.’ Taylor, who could usually hold his own behind enemy lines, was just no good at this thief stuff; he couldn’t overcome his psychological barrier. In hostile territory, he wasn’t scared, but as a thief, he was very much uneasy. Only Antonio seemed abnormally calm, even more so than usual, as if he were entering his own house when he stepped through the door. Swaggering up to the front door, Antonio smoothly pressed the six-digit code, and the door opened. Gao Yang and the group entered; it was that simple. Entering the house was actually the most dangerous part because, although Gao Yang and his team knew today might be the day the house was emptiest, they didn’t know what the situation inside was or how many people were in there. Antonio entering using the code was not a big deal; all it amounted to was spending more than a day outside the house, using remote surveillance to see when someone entered the code to unlock the door. Today, the code worked as expected, and the door opened. They didn’t know if there were any security personnel monitoring the entrance via surveillance; if a guard noticed anyone approaching the house and then breaking in, opting to alert the police or prevent Gao Yang’s entry, their operation would be a failure. If the security guard wasn’t watching the surveillance intently, they would be able to enter without issue. This entrance phase was both the weakest and most perilous link, but there was no avoiding the risk; entering the home of a super-wealthy individual without encountering any risk would be a joke. Once inside, Gao Yang shoved the briefcase into Antonio’s hands and then dashed madly to the side with Taylor. Poloneshenko couldn’t possibly live in the same house as his security. The mansion’s security was tight externally but lax internally, with most security concentrated on the exterior, leaving the interior, at most, with a few servants. Outside the mansion, two rooms were designated for security use; one was for monitoring surveillance feeds, and the other was a standby room for guards staying on alert 24/7. Gao Yang and Taylor quickly ran to the security room, where Taylor swiftly reached for the door handle, and Gao Yang rushed in, immediately raising his hand to shoot. Regardless of the gun used to shoot, Gao Yang was already an expert. As the two uniformed guards twitched on the ground, Taylor rushed into an adjacent room, and soon there were two more thuds as bodies hit the floor. There were four guards in total, who were watching TV and didn’t see Gao Yang and his team break in. Playing on the TV was footage of Poloneshenko excitedly declaring his victory. There were numerous cameras, thus many monitors in the control room; a surprise was virtually impossible. Gao Yang and his group had already been captured on film. Taylor took out his backpack, plugged a USB drive into the computer controlling surveillance, then retrieved a device resembling an old telephone. He booted it up, and once the string of flickering red lights turned green, he nodded toward Gao Yang. Holding the phone, Gao Yang said, somewhat nervously, "Physical connection established, signal transmission started." "Understood, Eliza, begin the signal transmission." Hearing Little Donnie’s voice on the phone, Gao Yang remained inexplicably tense. ɪꜰ ʏᴏᴜ ᴡᴀɴᴛ ᴛᴏ ʀᴇᴀᴅ ᴍᴏʀᴇ ᴄʜᴀᴘᴛᴇʀs, ᴘʟᴇᴀsᴇ ᴠɪsɪᴛ novel✶fire.net Soon, Little Donnie said over the phone, "OK, we’ve taken over the network. Also, to inform you, Eliza mentioned the security network on your side is linked to another network. The footage capturing you would also be stored on the other side, but don’t worry; she’ll delete all data entirely." After a short while, as the surveillance footage being monitored changed, Little Donnie chuckled on the phone, "All right, I’ve set the monitors to replay footage from the past few days. I’ll be watching here and notify you if there are any issues; now, you can go get the job done." (To be continued.
