Chapter 9 52 55 vouchers The elevator dings on arrival and the doors slid open . The chaos hits almost instantly , like stepping into an entirely new world . The smell of sweat and blood is heavy in the air . As well as expensive leather , wine , gasoline and a blend of other spices . There's an ongoing chant of ; " Den wolf ! Den wolf ! Den wolf ! " It's a word used to refer to the retired champions of the fight den . The underground fight den is a well organised space . The fight ring is large enough to contain at least a hundred men and it stands right in the center of the room . The guest tables are arranged on an elevated level all around the ring . The guests easily get a full view of the entire fight without having to stand or move around . Of course , there were those who still chose to stand , fuelled by adrenaline and excitement . But the arrangement ensured they wouldn't obstruct the view of others as the elevated level graduated higher the further into the crowd one looked . While the fight den was a vast space , it was reserved for elites only . And so it wasn't overly crowded , just a moderate number of rogues and pack wolves alike who had the adrenaline to burn and the money to spend . They've all come to witness a ' no - rules ' fight between the two champions of the night . I can practically taste the excitement thick in the air , after all , Caleb is a top ranked Den wolf . He was once a champion of this ring and the newer generation of champions have been itching to try their luck with him . There is an elevated bar on a platform at the other end of the hall , with waiters clad in leather going around to serve the guests . I head over to my reserved table , exchanging a few nods with familiar faces on the way . Caleb's leather jacket is already strapped over the opposite couch , while the man himself stands leisurely in the ring , sizing up opponent with a wide grin . his Sitting , a waiter quickly places a drink on my table . I pick it up and take a sip , before easing into the couch to watch the fight . " He should know he has three minutes . I won't wait any longer than that ." A loud bang rings out as the referee fires the gun , kick - starting the fight . Caleb lunges immediately , moving faster than most of the guests could comprehend . The fight doesn't take long . In about a minute and a few seconds , Caleb has the new champion pinned and unmoving . The guests roar in excitement . Chanting his name and crying for blood . He could choose to deal more harm , it is a no rules match after all . But it is dishonourable to humiliate an already defeated opponent . 31 1 14:14 Sat , Oct 11 Chapter 9 : pledged themselves to my service follow one supreme rule ... my laws . ( 52 ) EX 55 vouchers Caleb releases his hold on his opponent , much to the disappointment of the eager crowd and grabs a damp towel to wipe his bloody fists as he exits the ring . " Kael ! " He calls , jogging over with his grin still intact on his lips . " You should let me back from Ridgeway . These Thorneville champions have gone soft . " " Alpha . " Blake corrects in exasperation . Caleb chuckles , inclining his head in greeting before he takes a seat across from Blake and I. " How did it go ? " Blake asks , and Caleb turns serious . " I'm sorry , Alpha . " He apologises , shaking his head slightly . " We've gone through almost every rogue gang in Ridgeway and still no positive identification . It's either the rogues from ten years ago are all dead , or ... " He trails off . My expression turns cold , my hands clenching into fists . I've been on the trail of the rogues from the attack on Blackwood Pack ten years ago , for so long now . The trail led to Ridgeway and for three years , I've searched every corner of the damned city and still couldn't find them . " Four escaped alive . " Blake says , shaking his head . " They can't all be dead . Even if they are , what about their families ? There should be a trace at least . They can't just ... disappear ." Caleb nods in agreement . " What do you think it is ? " Blake ponders over it for a moment . " I've heard recently , the top ten packs have taken to absorbing skilled rogues to serve as enforcers due to the growing territory conflicts . " " It's happened in Ridgeway , Cone - island and even here in Thorneville . " Blake reports . " If it's the rogues from a decade ago , there's a good chance they meet the criteria to be scouted . " My brows furrow slightly and I glance over at Caleb . " TIl look into it ..." He is saying , but he's interrupted by a booming voice that draws the attention of over half the den . " Well , if it isn't the outcast , Kael Blackwood ! " Caleb was up on his feet immediately . Fists at the ready . I don't need to turn to know who it is . Alpha Marcus Kingston , the new Alpha of the second strongest pack in Thorneville . He's a former rival of sorts well , he's not nearly good enough to be considered a rival . We attended the same High School , He , Cameron and I and it's safe to say , he loathes the Blackwood brothers , particularly me Not without reason . I'd be mad too if I was repeatedly defeated by my peer , and then his little brother . 14:14 Sat , Oct 11 Chapter 9 55 vouchers But it's not my fault he couldn't even take care of Cameron and got humiliated by him after I left . He's always been a sorry excuse for an Alpha . Blake leans over . " Should we take care of him ? " I shake my head slowly . Gesturing for Caleb to stand down . Marcus arrives by my table with three of his subordinates , extending a hand to me with a smug smirk . " Congratulations on your reinstatement as a Blackwood . I was beginning to worry I wouldn't get to take care of you after I'm done with your brother ." I return the smirk , reaching for my glass like I hadn't seen his extended hand . My smirk widens as he growls lowly , his eyes darkening in rage at being ignored . " I would think you still understand common etiquette as the former Alpha heir of Blackwood Pack . But I guess I should have known better . I mean for a man fucking his brother's wife ? " He chuckles in disdain , My smirk freezes at the mention of Laila . The cowardly bastard , how dare he mention her .... A cold rage crawls down my spine . My hand moves faster than anyone around can keep track of , reaching for the gun in my holster . I don't even think of the consequences or hesitate before pulling the trigger . AD Comment Send gift No Ads 14:14 Sat , Oct 11 Chapter 10
