Chapter 29 Chapter 29 Chapter 29 32% "Mr. Summers suffers from insomnia, a poor appetite, and some lung problems. He usually takes antibiotics and anti- inflammatories. After he fainted a few days ago, we administered antibiotics, but his condition worsened instead of improving," the senior doctor explained. "We ran out of our own medication, so we switched to the hospital's supply. Despite it being the same medication, it's proving ineffective." Olivia looked a bit puzzled at that, but stayed composed. "Did you run any tests?" +28 "We did, but nothing abnormal showed up. All his vitals look normal, but his condition keeps getting worse. Even putting him on a ventilator hasn't helped at all." The more the two doctors talked, the more baffled they became. Olivia just glanced up, and instantly figured it out. "If it's not a problem with the treatment itself, then the issue must be with the medication or the equipment." The two doctors exchanged confused looks. They had no idea what she was getting at. Instead of grabbing a scalpel, Olivia opened up her own medical kit and took out her silver acupuncture needles. "Are you really going to use those needles for something this serious?" one of the doctors blurted out, clearly worried. "Mr. Summers' health is on the line here. Do you really think this is safe?" But before he could finish, Olivia had already placed the first needle. With every needle, they could actually see Samuel looking a little better. The two senior doctors, both versed in modern medicine, were rendered speechless. They had known of traditional medicine's storied past but had never witnessed it in action. As they observed Olivia's composed and skilled movements, they couldn't help but be momentarily awed by her. It didn't take long before the doctor monitoring the heart rate monitor suddenly shouted, voice trembling with excitement, "We've got a heartbeat. Mr. Summers is back!" His heartfelt cry rang out from the operating room, echoing down the hallway. Outside, David finally breathed a huge sigh of relief, nodding with obvious admiration. "Knew she was the real deal." Then he snorted, throwing shade at Nathan. "Some doctors actually save lives, and some... well, just make you sick." He even pretended to gag for emphasis. Nathan's face was so dark that it was almost scary. He clenched his jaw, refusing to listen to the taunt. He thought, 'This isn't over yet. If she dares to use anything from this operating room, that old man's a goner for sure. Let's see how she explains herself when things go south Meanwhile, Jenny wasn't just sitting around. She'd slipped into Nathan's office. 'That creep who keeps messing with Olivia has to be hiding something she thought. Jenny, well-versed in the art of sneaking, quickly located Nathan's office and began rummaging through drawers and 1/2 Chapter 29 cabinets. "What's this?" she murmured, noticing a stack of papers tucked away in a particularly concealed spot. The pages were filled with names, each accompanied by a varying price tag, and there were dozens of them. Were they selling grades? Or maybe even medical licenses?' Jenny wondered, her mind spinning. She automatically reached for her smartwatch to snap some pictures and upload them online. Then she realized that she'd left it in the restroom. Jenny just pouted. Something like that was not going to stop her. She whipped off her hairpin, which doubled as a mini camera, and started snapping away at the papers. She'd just have to upload them to her laptop later. Meanwhile, in the hospital's SVIP elevator, a few of the hospital's higher-ups were there, barely daring to breathe. They all bowed slightly, glancing nervously at the man standing in front of them. The man wasn't in a suit-just a long coat-but the aura around him was intimidating by nature. Nobody dared say a word near him. As soon as the elevator doors slid open, a girl rushed in and crashed straight into him. "Hey! Who do you think you are, blocking my way?" Jenny grumbled, rubbing her sore head and looking up angrily. "Jenny," the man said, his voice calm but firm. 2/2 Freelance photographer Violet Beck is forced into an engagement with CEO Roy Payne.
