Viper and the other Shandian warriors and their leader approached the Straw Hats to thank them. They then asked what should be done with Enel. Ikki had already decided to recruit Enel into his secret private Marine forces, which he called the Shadow Army. Luffy, a bit of a kid himself, was excited by the name and wanted to join. Viper and the others wanted to execute Enel, but they knew they had no right to demand anything. They would have all been defeated without the Straw Hats’ help. The Shandians and Gan Fall, the former "God" and Sky Knight, eventually made peace. Gan Fall wanted to return the Shandians’ home to them and hoped that the Sky Islanders and Shandians could coexist peacefully. As the islanders prepared for a celebratory feast, Luffy realized Ikki was gone. "Huh? Where’d Ikki go?" "Ikki went to pick up old man Cricket and the Saruyama Alliance," Nami replied, a large bag slung over her shoulder. Sanji and Zoro were also carrying similar bags. Nami had been hoping to find gold, but it had all been melted down into Enel’s ship, the Ark Maxim. She was disappointed but then realized the ship was worth far more. However, Ikki dashed her hopes. "The Ark Maxim is for the Shadow Army," he told her. Nami knew how important the Shadow Army was to the Straw Hats and that they needed a ship. Seeing her disappointment, Ikki told her that there was plenty of gold inside the giant snake’s belly. She and the others then went to search for gold and were quite successful. Ten minutes later, Ikki returned with Cricket and the Saruyama Alliance. "Is this a sky island? It’s a magical place!" Cricket exclaimed as he looked around. Their shock only grew when they reached the Island of Gods, which they recognized as a part of Jaya. "This... this is really a part of Jaya!" Cricket said. The trio was very familiar with Jaya Island. While the plants and animals here were enormous, their basic nature hadn’t changed, and they were instantly recognizable. The arrival of Cricket and his crew made the banquet even livelier. The Shandians were thrilled to discover that Cricket was a descendant of Montblanc Noland, their ancestor’s benefactor. They promised to ring the golden bell after the banquet to let the light of Shandora shine again. The feast was a grand affair, bringing together the Straw Hats, the Shadow Army, Cricket’s crew, the Shandians, Gan Fall, and even some animals from the island. The celebration lasted until the next day, and then everyone remembered the golden bell. The Shandians felt they had the right to ring it, having fought for it for centuries. Cricket felt he had the right, having searched for it for so long. After some deliberation, they all decided that the Straw Hats should ring the bell. Without them, they would never have defeated Enel or fulfilled their dream. He placed the bell on the highest altar in Shandora and looked at Luffy. Luffy immediately went into his Third Gear and struck the bell with a Gomu Gomu no Gigant Pistol. The sound of the bell resonated throughout the sky island and down to the sea below. As Cricket heard the beautiful sound, tears streamed down his face. "Noland, can you hear it? The bells you wanted to hear before you died!" Tears also fell from the eyes of the Shandians. To rekindle the light of Shandora was their centuries-long wish, and now, it was finally fulfilled. After a moment of listening to the bell, Ikki went into the cave where the Ark Maxim was stored. Enel was there, restrained by Seastone cuffs. Without his Devil Fruit power, he was lying on the ground. "So, what’s your decision? Join us or die?" Ikki asked. Enel just turned his head away, refusing to answer. How could a god like him become someone else’s subordinate? "Tsk, tsk... I gave you a chance," Ikki said. He then looked at Bullet, who was guarding Enel. "Take his cuffs off and teach him a lesson." Ikki knew Enel’s arrogance was a result of his power and his delusional god complex. The cure was a simple beating. If one wasn’t enough, he’d give him two, or three, or as many as it took to cure him. Bullet removed Enel’s cuffs, and a brutal, one-sided beating began. "Hey, Bullet, don’t kill him!" Ikki called out before leaving. He knew Bullet wouldn’t hold back. After leaving the cave, Ikki sent in Crocodile, the Golden Lion, Gildarts, and the imposter Ace. It seemed Enel’s bad luck was just beginning. "Oh, by the way..." Ikki said, stopping Black-Leg Ace as he walked by. "If you can, teach Gildarts how to use Haki."
