This winter in Fenton City is exceptionally cold, the north wind whistling, cutting across the cheeks like a knife, dry and aching. Lily Turner exhaled a cold breath, watching it freeze into white mist and disperse with the wind. She tugged her scarf up, put on her sunglasses, and with a slight tilt of her head, caught sight of Sophie Scott and Ethan Scott’s retreating figures. The brows hidden by the sunglasses furrowed lightly, then gradually relaxed. She had thought Sophie Scott was just an ordinary socialite, but unexpectedly, she had hidden ties with Virtue Retreat. As for that Ethan Scott... Her eyes subtly flickered as Lily Turner watched the two vanish from view, her lips pressing into a thin line. Her phone vibrated in her bag, and as she walked towards the parking lot, she took it out. Seeing the contact name "Jesse Johnson," Lily Turner tightened her gaze and answered the call. Slightly bowing her head, Lily lowered her voice, speeding up her pace a bit. "Lily, have you eaten?" Jesse Johnson’s voice was extremely relaxed. A light word, carrying a trace of coldness. Sensing something off in Lily Turner’s tone, Jesse paused slightly and asked playfully, "What’s wrong? Is it because I can’t come out that you’re unhappy?" "No." Lily Turner softened her tone, her voice becoming gentle, "Are you eating well? Not having any fights with your family?" "No, no," Jesse said hastily, "I’ll handle the family matters as soon as possible, don’t worry." Lily Turner chuckled lightly, affirming, "Mm, I believe you." Her voice was pleasant and certain, yet under those sunglasses, her beautiful eyes showed no hint of a smile, only heavy, drifting, indifference. The grip on her phone unconsciously tightened, her fingers turning pale from the cold wind. She wondered how the Johnson Family found out about Jesse Johnson’s relationship with her. Jesse’s parents intervened, forbidding them from dating. Jesse, unwilling, was deceived back home and ’softly detained’. Since she last had a meal with Jesse, she hadn’t seen him again. In her plan, ’dealing with the Johnson Family’ was a crucial step, for which she had to prepare extensively in advance. This current situation not only completely disrupted her plan but also put her in an awkward position with no way to intervene... Lily Turner bit her tongue, forcing herself to calm down. She could only take it one step at a time. "Master Pedro, Miss Scott is not at home. She just replied to my message saying she’s eating out." Jack Carter, just in from the entrance, relayed to Pedro Langley, holding up his phone. Coming out of the study with a book in hand, Pedro Langley slightly frowned, then nodded, "Mm." "I’ll go bring the food out." Pedro Langley stopped Jack Carter, who was about to run to the kitchen. Jack quickly halted, looked up at Pedro Langley, and saw him holding up a familiar comic book—"Death Legend." Pedro asked, "Where’s the sequel?" "Grandpa Loxley took it to the villa to read..." Halfway through speaking, Jack realized something, nearly biting his tongue, and next second, his eyes widened in shock. Master Pedro is reading Zero’s "Death Legend"?! Jack Carter felt a thrill like the ’fourth wall had been broken’. "Okay..." The words came out a bit unsteadily, and Jack paused, licking his lips, taking a few dogged steps forward, blinking excitedly, carefully asking, "Master Pedro, do you want me to run and get the book now?" The excitement and joy were uncontrollable, stronger than a thousand successful recommendations. Jack estimated that he couldn’t rest until he handed over the book intact to Pedro Langley. After a slight hesitation, Pedro’s gaze landed on the comic book in his hand, thinking of the ending scene, he finally nodded in agreement. Jack responded joyfully. Turning around, he jogged to the kitchen. At the moment he entered, his mood reached its peak, he couldn’t help but jump and tap the door frame with his hand, landing and realizing his behavior was a bit excessive, he stuck out his tongue, furtively glanced at Pedro Langley, seeing no displeasure, he relaxed and ran into the kitchen. Seeing him as gleeful as a monkey, Pedro’s lips twitched for a moment, then lowering his gaze, he swiftly flipped through the comic book in his hands. But didn’t they say the author is a rough-looking man? As the thought passed, Pedro Langley touched his left elbow through his shirt, squinted slightly, and walked towards the dining area. The lights in the living room were bright, yet it was silent. Sitting alone in the rocking chair reading, Pedro Langley was drawn by the continuous commotion outside the door. Items kept dropping with a clang, incessantly. It didn’t sound like moving house. When another series of clangs rang out, Pedro Langley, unable to bear it, dropped his book, got up, and strode to the hallway, grabbing the doorknob and turning it down— A package was thrown in skewed, landing squarely on his slippers, making the nerve at his temple twitch. Pedro Langley’s expression darkened bit by bit, visibly to the naked eye. Outside the door, using deliveries to pile the entrance into a small mountain, Nora Scott, hearing the door open, tilted her head to look over. Slightly stunned, Nora nonchalantly extended her right foot, hooked the package thrown in the door back out with her toe, kicked it to join the heap of parcels, and casually asked, "Going out?" Pedro Langley, with a blank expression, asked, "Just checking what the neighbor’s up to. Have you switched to collecting packages now?" What did she do to upset him again? Raising her right eyebrow, Nora propped her elbow on the door frame, smoothly smiled at him and asked, "Why, are you mailing a package?" "Is there a discount?" "Ten percent surcharge maybe." The two stared at each other in silence, then, both sighed at the childishness and shifted their gazes in unison. After a moment, Pedro Langley asked, "How many more packages are there?" Throwing the last package in her hand onto the pile, Nora clapped her hands, "That’s all of them." Nora glanced around, a trace of resignation in her tone, "No idea, they’re birthday gifts from others." Did she ask everyone to send over ten birthday gifts each? For some reason, the thought of knowing nothing about her personal relationships in these years made Pedro a bit irritable. His gaze swept over her mountain of deliveries, wanting to throw a few more sarcastic remarks, but then he heard the elevator door open, and hurried footsteps approached. Both of them heard the noise, looked up together, and saw Jack Carter running like a gust of wind, holding a large stack of books. As soon as he caught sight of Jack, Pedro Langley immediately frowned— He had a foreboding feeling. Sure enough, the next moment, he heard Jack’s loud voice, "Master Pedro, I brought the entire set of ’Death Legend’!"
