"Second Shaw, starting business so early?" The voice was wrapped in teasing and amusement, with no attempt to hide its schadenfreude, very straightforward and unpretentious. Under the dim yellow streetlights, the first thing that entered his vision was the incredibly familiar military coat, followed by Miss Scott’s face, resplendent even without makeup. Her hair danced in the early morning cold wind, she slightly arched her brows and eyes, with a smirk on her lips, her gaze was playful yet detached. Suddenly jolting backward, Jesse Johnson tried to get up, but since he was leaning against the wall, his back slammed into it, causing him to wince in pain, failing to get up. Nora Scott glanced at him disdainfully. His dyed white hair was messy, with a few bruises on his face, glaringly obvious against his pampered pale skin. His coat had several tears, covered in mud, wearing one sneaker and a thin black sock on the other foot. This look could easily blend into a group of ’beggars’ or ’vagrants’ without seeming out of place. Casually grabbing two small bags, Nora Scott tossed them to Jesse Johnson. He realized what they were when they were already in his arms. "What are you doing?" Once he saw it was breakfast and not a bomb, Jesse Johnson courageously lifted his chin and glared angrily at Nora Scott. Full of defensiveness. He never imagined that he would be seen by Nora Scott in such a pitiful state! Nora Scott smirked, "Haven’t you switched careers to begging?" Clutching the bags in his arms, Jesse Johnson endured the pain all over his body, suddenly jumping up and shouting furiously at her, "You’re the beggar! Your whole family’s beggars!" He almost spat in her face, Nora Scott frowned slightly, asking coldly, "Want to give it back?" His stomach growled inopportunely. The overwhelming hunger forced the proud Master Johnson to lower his noble head and swallow back his aggressive words. After being ’kept at home,’ he caused a scene and then fasted for two days, starving miserably. As soon as he slipped out, he headed straight for the night snack shop. Ended up confronting two drunkards at the door, cursed them out, pissed them off, and got "beaten" by them. They also took his phone and wallet. He wandered around aiming for a nearby police station, but ended up getting lost in a random alley without finding the station. Now, being able to argue with Nora Scott relied purely on his stubborn perseverance and preconceived notions about her. Knowing when to back down is wisdom, he chose not to argue with Nora Scott. Still warm, Jesse Johnson hesitated for two seconds, couldn’t resist the aroma, took out a sugar pancake and bit into it, cheeks bulging as he glared at Nora Scott and asked, "Where’s the police station? I want to report them." Her eyebrows furrowed, Nora Scott glanced at him coolly, her voice carried the chill of the wind, "Who are you talking to?" Jesse Johnson was bewildered, finally raising his emotional intelligence after swallowing the food, seemingly understanding something, hesitantly adding two words, "Excuse me?" "No idea." Nora Scott answered succinctly. Jesse Johnson grumbled, "Can’t you check?" Nora Scott said nothing, squinted at him, her gaze icy. The cold wind hit him, Jesse Johnson shivered, retreated a bit, and switched to a weaker tone, "Can you check it out?" Retrieving her gaze, Nora Scott freed one hand, fished out her phone, fiddled with it a bit, then tossed the phone to Jesse Johnson. Jesse Johnson caught it, thinking she couldn’t manage even this, but then looked down only to see the call interface, the note rightfully showing [Lily Turner]. Lily Turner, who had deleted Nora Scott’s number, swallowed her anger as she answered the call in the cold morning, only to be surprised that it was her little boyfriend calling. The remaining sleepiness was completely swept away. Jesse Johnson explained the situation to Lily Turner and clarified his location. After hanging up and returning the phone, he sneakily lifted his eyelids and sized up Nora Scott who was waiting quietly. His dissatisfaction and annoyance with her diminished significantly because of that call. Miraculously, Jesse Johnson decided to proactively thank her. But he was lightly interrupted by Nora Scott— "Second Shaw shouldn’t be someone who repays kindness with animosity, right?" The words were choked back, Jesse Johnson opened his mouth, stammering, "Wh—what?" The phone spun around and was tossed into her pocket, Nora Scott continued unhurriedly, "A little kindness should be returned greatly. You owe a favor, you’ll have to repay it later." What’s this, naming a price upfront? No, isn’t this daylight robbery?! Utterly stunned, Jesse Johnson widened his eyes, not knowing what to say. Once he snapped back to reality, Nora Scott had already turned and left, leaving him with a haughty yet bloated, tacky silhouette. Jesse Johnson gritted his teeth in secret, the earlier gratitude and guilt towards Nora Scott vanished without a trace, while his pressured prejudices multiplied exponentially. This woman, that’s just how she is! Returning to Cloudwater Haven, the sky had just lightened, and the once quiet city gradually came to life. Nora Scott carried still warm breakfast out of the elevator and immediately saw Jack Carter waiting outside with his phone in hand. Seeing Nora Scott, Jack Carter’s face lit up with a smile, quickly approaching her. Nora Scott paused, "Been waiting all along?" Jack Carter scratched his head, just smiling brightly. On his way to make breakfast, he received Nora Scott’s message saying she had bought breakfast outside, and was bringing them some, so he didn’t need to prepare breakfast anymore. This matter seemed significant to Jack Carter. So once he arrived at Cloudwater Haven, he lingered by the elevator. Had Nora Scott not told him to wait for news at home and used the underground parking, he might have waited downstairs. Picking out a cup of soybean milk and a basket of steamed buns, Nora Scott handed the rest over to Jack Carter. Feeling the weight in his hands, Jack Carter asked surprisedly. "Not sure what you all like, bought a bit of everything." Nora Scott replied. Jack Carter responded absentmindedly. Watching Nora Scott enter the door, Jack Carter stood there pondering over the bag: This amount could feed seven or eight people? Wonder if Master Pedro eats these. A quarter of an hour later. Pedro Langley stepped out of the bedroom, all dressed up, and immediately noticed the dining table filled with breakfast. All sorts of dishes, a feast for the eyes. A vista of ’cheapness.’ The kitchen light was on, Jack Carter was busy there. Sensing Pedro Langley’s presence keenly, Jack Carter came out with a bowl of freshly cooked porridge. Pedro Langley frowned lightly, his voice deep and slightly angry, "What’s going on?"
