An Ying turned her head to glance at the woman, hesitated for a moment, and then said, "Okay." The bus indeed had a lot of colleagues on board; An Ying assumed it was full and that’s why the sales department manager asked her to take another vehicle. Meanwhile, the bus doors slowly closed and the bus gradually drove away. An Ying took a couple of steps forward, "Manager Wu, which car are we taking?" Manager Wu looked at the car parked by the roadside and pointed, "It’s that one, let’s go." An Ying followed along. When they reached the car, it was Manager Wu who personally opened the car door for her, making An Ying feel both flattered and surprised, "Thank you." She hadn’t expected Manager Wu, usually so meticulous, to be so kind. An Ying sat alongside Manager Wu. Manager Wu respectfully called out to the front, and that’s when An Ying noticed a tall man sitting in the front passenger seat. A trace of nervousness flashed in An Ying’s heart, and following Manager Wu’s lead, she also called out, "Hello, Mr. Su." The car started at that moment. A shiver ran down An Ying’s spine; even though the car heater was on, she still felt a chill. "No need to be tense, everyone," the man in the passenger seat said with a smile. An Ying couldn’t see the man’s face, but his voice carried a hint of warmth. Manager Wu turned his head to see An Ying’s bewildered expression and whispered, "The person in the passenger seat is our boss, Mr. Su." An Ying nodded slightly, not thinking much of it. The car sped along the road. Su Jianteng observed the woman in the back seat through the rearview mirror, his smile widening as he looked at her captivating beauty. The car finally stopped at a holiday resort. After getting out, An Ying was drawn to the lush greenery and flowers; she hadn’t expected such beautiful scenery in winter. When Su Jianteng got out, he noticed the woman wearing a thick down jacket, yet it couldn’t hide her graceful figure. Her delicate face featured willow-leaf eyebrows, a curved smile, and lively, almond-shaped eyes exuding a captivating charm, as radiant as spring. Su Jianteng found himself momentarily entranced. The assistant stood nearby, watching discreetly. As for Manager Wu, he had vanished after they got out, seemingly making space for certain individuals. When An Ying returned to her senses, she met a pair of intense eyes. "Mr. Su." Facing such an open gaze, An Ying felt quite uncomfortable. "Miss An, please," Su Jianteng said politely, gesturing for her to proceed. Hearing the way he addressed her, An Ying felt more wary, forcing a smile, "Thank you." She glanced around and noted that Manager Wu was nowhere in sight, which made her more cautious. Having been in the business world for years, Su Jianteng easily discerned her thoughts and spoke kindly, "Miss An, no need to be nervous; I’ve looked over your employment information, so that’s why I addressed you that way." Feeling embarrassed, An Ying stood there, not expecting to be so transparent. "Sorry." Given that he was the boss, An Ying really didn’t know what else to say. "Miss An hasn’t done anything wrong," Su Jianteng remarked with a bright voice, his dark eyes settling on her ankle, where her smooth, fair skin showed, which was particularly enticing to him. Feeling uneasy, An Ying took a step forward towards the winding path. Little did she know the man was watching her unabashedly. At work, An Ying was always required to wear a qipao, as per Manager Wu’s instructions; even the qipao was provided by the company. Once off work, with cold winds blowing on the way home, she would put on her own down jacket. However, the qipao was so short that even with a long down jacket, her calves were still chilly, so she would always take a hot bath to warm up once she got home. Walking on the mountain path, the scenery was beautiful yet extremely cold. "Mr. Su." ᴛʜɪs ᴄʜᴀᴘᴛᴇʀ ɪs ᴜᴘᴅᴀᴛᴇ ʙʏ 𝗇𝗈𝗏𝖾𝗅•𝖿𝗂𝗋𝖾•𝗇𝖾𝗍 As they walked one after the other, a man with glasses approached from the resort, speaking respectfully. Suppressing the avarice on his face, Su Jianteng looked at the newcomer, "No need to follow me." The resort manager’s smile froze momentarily but then continued smiling, "Understood, Mr. Su." After speaking, the man signaled to the attendants with his eyes. The attendants dispersed promptly. After walking through several twists and turns, they reached a solitary building from which came bustling noises, allowing An Ying to relax a bit. Presumably, everyone was inside. Her guess was correct. When An Ying followed Su Jianteng in, her usual colleagues were already seated at the tables; she counted, and there were three full tables in the hall. Even Manager Wu was seated with her colleagues. "Miss An, sit at my table." The man’s voice came from beside her. Startled, An Ying looked up, "Mr. Su, I’ll just squeeze in with them." After all, she wouldn’t eat much, just adding one more set of utensils to any of the tables. "If Miss An sits elsewhere, people might think I’m neglecting an employee," Su Jianteng feigned concern. An Ying frowned; she wasn’t well-versed in workplace etiquette, but since he insisted, she couldn’t refuse. Seeing her reluctant expression, Su Jianteng wasn’t angered. He headed toward the foremost table, "Follow me." An Ying remained silent, not responding. The assistant sensibly followed behind An Ying. When they appeared, the once noisy hall fell silent, all eyes turning towards An Ying. The gazes varied – some amused, some disdainful, others envious... Many had ulterior motives. As colleagues, everyone knew that An Ying wasn’t young anymore and had a daughter, but given her stunning appearance, it seemed somehow expected that she’d catch the boss’s eye. Quite a few female colleagues sighed audibly. In the hall, there was a large stage; presently, the assistant went on stage to thank everyone for their hard work on behalf of Su Jianteng before the attendants wheeled out food carts to serve the meal. The dining tables were filled with laughter and chatter, lively and bustling. Except at An Ying’s table. An Ying glanced at the array of dishes, a sense of unease rising within her. "Miss An, try the signature dish here, black-bone chicken soup," Su Jianteng warmly suggested. Wary of overwhelming her with enthusiasm, he refrained from serving her the soup himself. "Okay." An Ying picked up her chopsticks, her eyes lingering on the plain cabbage. Observing her eat only cabbage, Su Jianteng’s perpetually smiling face gradually stiffened. The quick-sighted assistant stood up and served a bowl of soup, placing it in front of Su Jianteng. An Ying kept her head down, quietly finishing a small bowl of rice before setting her chopsticks down.
