Chapter 18 Silvy I take a couple of bites of the lasagna. I won't say it out loud yet but it is pretty good." So how did you two meet?" I asked between bites. Dad opens his mouth but I stop him. "I want to hear her version," I said, giving him a hard glare. She tells the same story Dad did, so that matches up so far. "What are you hoping to get out of this thing with my dad?" I asked. "What do you mean?" Gena asked. "What are you after? Marriage, ready-made babysitter, access to his bank account, a sugar daddy while you mess around with younger men, or do you want him to take care of you and Xavier so you don't have to anymore?" I asked. Silvy, you said you would try," Dad said. "Daddy, this is me trying. I asked her straight forward instead of going behind her back to some friends of mine to have a background check done. And if I still think she is a gold-digger I will do it anyway." I said. " Silvy please." Dad pleaded! I was not going to back down from this. He may love Gena but I wasn't going to have her make a fool of him." Honey, it is fine. Silvy is looking out for you. I'm the first girlfriend she has ever met. You told me this. I'm going to answer her questions. She deserves it." Gena said. "I don't want your dad's money. I will sign whatever you need to prove that. I don't need a babysitter. Xavier has a nanny that works with my shifts. I don't need Tony to take care of me or Xavier. I told him that when we first started dating. And if I wanted to date a younger guy I wouldn't have agreed to Tony in the first place. I don't play games like that. As for marriage. Maybe in the future if that is what Tony wants." Gena blushes at the last part. So far her answers are good. But I'm far from done. I look over at my dinner buddy before I ask my next question. He is stuffing his face not paying us attention. I keep my voice low and ask." And Xavier's father. What is the chance he is going to pop up and try to get back with you? Why let my dad get attached when it could be snatched away?" "Xaviers father isn't in the picture. He signed over his rights when Xavier was born and took off. He didn't want a kid to get in the way of his party lifestyle." Gena answered. Poor little guy. He deserved so much better. And he will get it from my dad. * M How do you feel about bikers and motorcycle clubs? Working on the maternity floor I'm sure you have met a few in recent years. " I smirked. Silvy, I know about your dad's past. He was upfront about it. And I'm good with it. If you are talking about the Renegades. I don't have a problem with them. You are right I have met a few over the years. Have I gone out of my way to talk to them? No. But I will talk to them if I see one." Gena said. Gena lays her fork down." Silvy, I know this may be new to you. Suddenly having to share your dad after all these years. Not just with me but with a little kid. I'm not going to try to be your mom. That would be weird, especially considering how close we are in age. And you are grown. You don't need one. I will settle for friendship. If you can't do that, I will settle for respect for my and your dad's relationship. But know this, I do love your dad. He has made me happier than I have been in a long time. I can only hope I can do the same for him." she said. "if it will make you feel better to do the background check, go for it. I have nothing to hide. I just ask you to trust Tony and his choices." Gena continued. I like that she stood up to me without being a bitch. And she is fighting for my dad. "I'm not snotty enough that I can't share my dad. But this is going to take a little time to get used to. Give me that and we are good." I said. Gena nodded. I turned to Daad and smirked, "Took you long enough to give me that brother I asked for." Dad started cracking up. Gena and Xavier looked so confused. After composing himself Dad explained that when I was seven I asked my dad for a little brother. He told Gena that he explained to young me that when he found the right woman he would try to give me one. That got Gena laughing. Xavier's reaction was the best. He stood up on his chair and asked me " You will be my big sister, Silvy?" "Sure, buddy. If you want." I told him. He launched himself out of the chair at me with such force he knocked me over onto the floor. I took the fall so he wouldn't get hurt. Not that he noticed because he was too busy yelling " Yea, I get a big sister. We can go to the park. And I will share all my toys with you. And we can watch movies." the list went on while I laughed. I would have to see if Gena would let me take him to the club to play with the other kids so he could make some friends. Overall the dinner didn't go that bad. Chapter Comments
