Chapter 31 Silvy 。 C I went into this date with no expectations and an open mind. I wasn't sure what a date with Goof would be like and I didn't want to get my hopes up. So far though I am impressed. He has been a perfect gentleman. When the hostess was checking Goof out he ignored her. He kept me close to him and helped me into my seat. Just that was an improvement from some of my past dates. Yes, I have had some pretty sorry dates. On one date the guy flirted with the waitress the entire time after arriving fifteen minutes late. I left before the food could arrive. Never went on a blind date again. After the waiter helped me pick out two variety platters Goof ordered. I wanted to feel bad at the amount I ordered but Goof wasn't worried at all. He just said we could take the leftovers home. He just wanted me to get my fill of what I was craving. After the waiter left I remembered something he said while we were driving here." Goof, you said Lilly told you about this place. Does that mean they know? About us I mean." I asked. "The ol'e ladies do, yes, " Goof says. I want to be pissed about this. It was supposed to stay between us. Goof raises his hands " Silvy, I know you are mad. Just hear me out." I nod for him to go ahead. He explains to me that Merigold called him over to her shop and all the ol'e ladies were there wanting answers. As soon as he told me all the ol'e ladies were there I calmed down. If it was one or two Goof might have been able to avoid questions. Or play dumb. But all of them. Nope he wasn't going to get away with taking the easy routine. He continues to explain but I hold up my hand to stop him. "Goof, I get it. I would have laid everything out too when faced with those girls." I said. " Yea, those ladies can be scary as hell." Goof laughs. Our food arrives so we stay silent for a few minutes. I look at all the food in front of me trying to figure out where to start. I have fried shrimp, sauteed shrimp, fried crawfish, grilled amberjack, a double order of fries, coleslaw, hush puppies, stuffed crab, fried catfish and a lobster tail with extra butter. Now that I'm looking at it I know I won't be able to eat it all. I started with the shrimp since that was what I have been craving. I take a couple of bites then say "Goof, I think my eyes are bigger than my stomach. Do you want any of this?" I point with my fork to all the food I have. "Eat what you and a little bit want first. Then I might," he said. I can deal with that. As usual, he is putting my needs first. I'm still getting used to it. We talk about different things, like my shift last night. I told him it wasn't too bad except for a couple of drug seekers. "You really have people come into the emergency room looking for drugs?" he asked. I told him it was more common than people thought. People would come in with fake or minor injuries trying to get pills or even shots. Usually, strong stuff that most ethical doctors won't prescribe because they are addicting. We had finished eating by the time I got to the end of the story. Goof paid and let a hefty tip for our waiter. I grabbed the doggie bag and we left. Goof told me our next stop was the movies if I was up to it. I did want to see the movie even though I was stuffed. Since all I had to do was sit I agreed. Goof took my arm and escorted me to the car. Again. When we arrived at the theater he helped me out of the car. He paid for the tickets and drinks. Goof either had his hand on the middle of my back or held mine the entire time. During the movie, he kept his arm around my shoulder but never went any further than that. A true gentleman. When the movie was over Goof offered to take me to a dessert food truck just down the road if I wanted to. Which I did. We talked and laughed the whole time. This turned out to be the best date I have ever been on. And I had so much fun. Chapter Comments
