"Hey, you guys playing the enemy soldiers! What are you still standing there for? Get over here now!" Just as Qin Wenbin was lost in a pleasant daydream, the assistant director ran over with a megaphone and started shouting at them. One of the assistant director’s duties was to help the director coordinate the filming. Qin Wenbin opened his mouth, wanting to tell the AD that they weren’t there to act, but then he suddenly remembered what Shang Lianqing had told him. I’m supposed to be an extra now! If I don’t follow orders, I’ll probably get kicked out. So, he immediately followed the assistant director’s instructions. He and his twenty-odd subordinates, all dressed as enemy soldiers, stood in front of the stronghold’s gate. His eyes were still darting around, searching for any sign of Su Xuan. At that moment, the director, riding on a camera dolly, aimed a huge camera right at the gate of the enemy stronghold. "Enemy contact! Enemy contact!" an enemy soldier yelled, running into the frame in a panic. "Someone is trying to force their way into the stronghold! All personnel to battle stations!" CLATTER! Updates are released by 𝙣𝙤𝙫𝙚𝙡•𝙛𝙞𝙧𝙚⚫𝙣𝙚𝙩 At his shout, a squad of soldiers poured out of the stronghold, forming ranks behind Qin Wenbin and his men. "Wow, what a huge scene!" Qin Wenbin exclaimed, looking back and seeing a dense crowd of people behind him. "What are you looking around for?" the assistant director barked at him. "Do you even know how to act?!" Qin Wenbin quickly snapped his head forward, fixing his gaze straight ahead. Before long, a series of sounds echoed from the woods. Then, dark figures began to emerge slowly from the trees. Qin Wenbin stared intently. The dark figures were actually cattle! A quick count revealed sixty or seventy of them. "Wow! This scene is even bigger!" Qin Wenbin exclaimed again. But he was also confused. What are all these cattle for? Could it be that the local peasants are trying to butter us up by bringing us gifts? Then, he saw a figure emerge from the woods. The man was dressed in tattered clothes, holding a whip, his face contorted with hatred. The more I look at him, the more familiar he seems, Qin Wenbin thought. I feel like I’ve seen him somewhere before! There’s only one possibility... It has to be Su Xuan! I don’t know anyone else on this film crew, after all. It’s that Su guy! It’s definitely him! Qin Wenbin immediately turned to his men. "The one herding the cattle is that bastard Su. Keep your eyes on him, don’t let him get away!" "With twenty of us, there’s no way he can escape!" His men all fixed their gazes on Su Xuan, ready to rush forward and seize him at a moment’s notice. But in the next second, the unexpected happened. Su Xuan swung his whip and roared, "My bovine brothers, our chance to kill the enemy is here! Gore them! Charge!" At his command, the herd of powerful cattle broke into a desperate, frenzied stampede straight for the enemy stronghold. "Idiots!" an officer standing on a high platform roared, drawing his officer’s sword and pointing it at the stampeding herd. "Blast those beasts!" Several soldiers quickly set up their mortars and began firing at the cattle. The ground beneath the animals’ hooves erupted in explosions, scattering light and shadow everywhere. This seemed to frighten the cattle even more, and they charged toward the stronghold with even greater frenzy. "Wow! So realistic! The explosions look just like the real thing!" Qin Wenbin and his men were astonished, bursting into exclamations of admiration. "Damn it!" the officer roared again. "Cease fire! Cut them down!" According to the script, Qin Wenbin and the others at the front line were supposed to charge out and slaughter the cattle. But of course, they didn’t know the script, so they just stood there, frozen in place. "Charge! Have you all gone stupid?" the assistant director screamed at them. Qin Wenbin and his men exchanged bewildered glances. Charge? Are you kidding me? Can’t they see those animals have been driven mad by the explosions? If we charge out there, we’ll actually get gored to death! Only a real idiot would do that! Suddenly, someone kicked Qin Wenbin squarely in the back. He stumbled forward several steps, losing his balance and lurching out from the line. Just then, several cattle charged menacingly toward him. "Crap! Help me! I’m a goner! I’m going to die!" Qin Wenbin screamed to his men for help. But his men could barely save themselves. The tide of real extras playing soldiers surged forward from behind, pushing all of Qin Wenbin’s people out into the open. What followed was a ghastly sight. In the chaotic stampede, Qin Wenbin and the twenty-odd men he had brought with him were either sent flying through the air or trampled underhoof, slamming hard onto the ground with sickening thuds. In the blink of an eye, not a single one of them was left standing. The actual extras playing the enemy soldiers stared in shock. "Their acting is so professional!" "They’re really putting their lives on the line for this performance!" "If I had even a tenth of their dedication, I’d be famous by now!" According to the director’s instructions, these extras weren’t supposed to actually confront the cattle head-on. All they had to do when the stampede reached them was lie on the ground and play dead. Cattle won’t trample people lying on the ground. So, the extras all dropped to the ground, feigning death, and escaped the chaos completely unharmed. Dongfang Hao was among them, lying on the ground and snickering to himself. He was the one who had kicked Qin Wenbin. I don’t know who that guy is, he thought, but according to Su Xuan’s plan, the troublemakers were all put in the front row. So kicking the guy at the very front had to be right! After the herd of cattle dispersed, the next phase of the script began—the scene of Su Xuan’s heroic sacrifice. "Fools!" the officer on the platform roared, pointing his sword at Su Xuan. "Capture that herder alive! He must be a resistance fighter!" A new squad of soldiers charged out from the stronghold toward Su Xuan, but they suddenly stopped in their tracks. A figure in front of them was shakily getting to his feet, using a rifle for support. The man was dressed in bloody rags, a truly pitiable sight. This development completely dumbfounded the new squad. According to the script, this guy was supposed to have been killed by the cattle! He shouldn’t be getting back up! Is he improvising a bigger part for himself? Yeah, that must be it! And who was this ’indestructible’ soldier who refused to die? It was none other than Qin Wenbin. Leaning on his rifle, Qin Wenbin wobbled horribly with each step until he was right in front of Su Xuan. Enduring the excruciating pain wracking his body, he raised his rifle and pointed the bayonet at his foe. "Su, you bastard," he growled, "I have been looking everywhere for you!" The words had barely left his lips when his eyes widened in horror. He saw Su Xuan pull a grenade from inside his shirt...
