"This truly is a magical land, filled with demons and specters we’ve never seen before." After Malin used his lightsaber to transcend several Wraiths, Ling Zuo Zuo shared her thoughts. In the recent battle, these Wraiths initially appeared as humans. When they appeared, no one thought there was anything wrong with them. Ling Zuo Zuo even mistook them for Adventurers, completely forgetting that Thainan Adventurers could appear out of nowhere — the Wraiths could even interfere with their targets’ perceptions, and it took Ling Zuo Zuo about seven seconds to break free from this disrupted state. If not for His Highness Malin, Ling Zuo Zuo felt she would surely have perished. Yet His Highness Malin drew his lightsaber and swiftly dispatched the Wraiths with several strikes. "Your Highness Malin, did you discover their flaw due to your special powers?" Onor was also very curious about this. In his eyes, they seemed like Tech Hunters from Westland, and he hesitated for three seconds before suddenly realizing — how could there be Tech Hunters here? By that point, the first Wraith had already been set ablaze by Malin’s lightsaber. "No, they transformed into my wife, especially one who was Maya." Of course, Malin couldn’t admit that they turned into some scantily clad elf girl right in front of him. These Wraiths were actually not interfering with targets’ perceptions; they were instinctively using their abilities to ambush the living. Besides, transforming into such a form, even a fool would realize something was amiss. In the wilderness full of different kinds, where could a beautiful maiden come from? A man-eating demon was more likely, so Malin chopped them into blazing torches with one slash per Wraith. Onor didn’t laugh, but Emil beside him did chuckle. This young man laughed awkwardly, "I’m sorry, Your Highness, but I find those Wraiths really stupid. How could they think of turning into your spouses? It would be one thing to change, but they even became one right by your side." After speaking, the young man tactfully glanced at Maya, "Madam, what do you think?" "I have confidence in my husband and worry about these Wraiths’ stupidity. After all, in this day and age, being so foolish as to get oneself killed is the most idiotic way to die." Maya spoke as she gently twirled her fingers, with elemental spirits dancing between her fingers. These little things warned Maya during the recent battle; if Malin detected the illusion’s oddity and realized the issue, Maya became suspicious when the elemental spirits suddenly hid behind her upon seeing the spirits suddenly appear before her — though she still couldn’t see through the illusion until Malin slashed them one by one, exposing the Wraiths’ disguises, which could truly pass as real. "It’s truly astonishing. These Wraiths interfere with our minds, causing us to subconsciously ignore the irrationality of their existence. Their illusionary disguise doesn’t just affect our minds, so even if we question their plausibility, we might still fall for their trickery for failing to see through it at first glance." Sayer commented after examining the ashes left by the Wraiths. "We need to be more cautious," Malin said, beckoning the Sharpshooter Trio. Three elves nervously ran up to Malin, "Your Highness, we’ve never seen Wraiths like these before." "Of course, you haven’t because those who have are dead." Malin laughed as he patted them on the head, "Not bad, you all reacted within five seconds. The appearance of these Wraiths varies in everyone’s eyes. They seem to have accessed our consciousness in the instant of contact, reading each individual’s memories to find a perceived weakness. This encounter was incredibly dangerous." The three young elves smiled awkwardly, then resumed their position up front. After traversing this mountain-shaded roadway, they stepped back into sunlight, and Malin could sense the oddity of the location. He gestured to Sayer to mark this danger point on the map— there was a palpable presence of Negative Energy, possibly a Wraith nest. Previous patrols passed here during mornings and noon, so Wraiths didn’t appear in direct sunlight, but when they came by, the sun had begun setting, leaving the Wraiths free to appear in plain view. Sayer and Onor both agreed with Malin’s assessment, especially Onor, whose ability to sense Negative Energy presence like these Wraiths was nearly on par with Malin’s. He was the third to awaken from the disturbance, while Sayer, strong as he was, came in fifth, because the fourth to awaken was Konsair — this big cat and Tainor awoke almost simultaneously, truly worthy of being the keenly perceptive Panseau Felisians. After crossing a small hill and travelling further, Malin and his team spotted the Everlasting Lamp by the roadside. These spirit lamps, crafted by the elves, were designed to ward off Wraiths. In this district, if you hadn’t seen Wraiths at night, you’d most certainly encounter them. Upon seeing these lamps and walking further, Malin and his group came across a small city turned into ruins. Like the previous campsite, trees and wooden walls blended with the wreckage, and the elven guards inside quickly opened the gate for the trio at the front.
