Everyone is born striving to reach their own destination. Some travel far, some travel close, some get tired and stop halfway, falling asleep without waking up, and some get lost in the process, forgetting where the destination lies. But Malin believes he can see the destination, though he doesn’t know how to get there, or rather—he doesn’t know how he can reach the endpoint. Gazing at the full moon hanging high in the sky, Malin pondered. Finally, he closed his eyes. Opening his eyes again, he was filled with joy as he looked at the vast city in front of him. This was New Hangzhou. If he wasn’t mistaken, it was the New Hangzhou on the timeline where he helped Mars eliminate a murderer. Malin came here not to find answers for himself, but to take a glimpse into the history of the future. With this thought in mind, Malin walked to the roadside, observing a short man with a wheelchair seated there. Moved by the contrast between time’s mercilessness and human compassion, Malin took a few Carterburg Gold Coins from his pocket, placed them in his collection bag, and then changed out of his usual attire into a linen shirt, capri pants, and small leather boots—an outfit more reminiscent of vintage fashion in this era than what a normal child would wear. Although most people couldn’t see Malin’s presence, he couldn’t escape the sharp eyes of the Transcendents. Malin also didn’t know if there was any difference between his present self and his future self. Having changed clothes, Malin was about to leave when he saw a small Leopard Girl staring at him from the roadside. Noticing Malin’s gaze, the small Leopard Girl picked up her communication phone, seemingly ready to photograph Malin. With a flick of his small hand, Malin erased her recent memories, then decided to flee. "With my tender skin, today I’ve truly given back to society, and besides, the girl’s Spell Talent and inspiration aren’t bad. In an era of waning magic, her talents are underutilized." But... speaking of which, this is the kind of future Malin wants to leave for everyone, because this is a safe future without Chaos, a future that people from the Great Destruction’s Fifth Era in which Malin lived, could only dream of. The World Tree Sapling had become a bracelet on Malin’s wrist. "You’ve come along as well." Malin was somewhat puzzled but quickly reconciled—deep diving and coming directly are two different things. So Malin found the library using a self-service terminal by the roadside, then jumped on an autonomous bus. On the way, the city’s vibrant side that Malin saw hadn’t changed much from the last time he came, but smiles adorned most people’s faces. It’s rare, considering that in Malin’s era, a smile was a luxury expression. · Welcome to the Thainan National Library New Hangzhou branch. With the electronic voice reminder on the automated bus, Malin jumped off. · Kid, you didn’t pay! A drone flew over, opening the coin slot, its electronic eye fixed on Malin. Malin slapped his own head—it made sense that mortals couldn’t see him, it made sense that children with extraordinary talent could see him, and of course, electronic machinery could absolutely observe Malin. After all, Malin had a body temperature, even if normal observation couldn’t form an image, it could be switched to infrared to detect such an existence as Malin. But then, how does a Wraith get observed, this question should be asked to Jason and the others when he returns. Malin was pondering as he took out a silver coin and tossed it in the slot. The drone was silent for a moment. Malin was just about to leave when the little device moved in front of him again. · Kid, the silver coin you deposited is a relic from two thousand years ago. "Hmm, are you implying you plan to confiscate this relic?" Malin rolled his eyes, simultaneously scanning the surroundings—he wanted to see which wallet of which person was worthy of its owner’s appreciation with himself. · No, your deposit doesn’t meet the rules, considering your age, here’s your silver coin back, remember to bring double fare next time, kid. With that, the drone flew towards the autonomous bus that was restarting. The people on the bus couldn’t see Malin, and they were curious as to why the autonomous bus stopped there, and why the drone was talking to itself in an empty spot. Some people even took out their phones. Malin jogged into the library, casually plucking wallets out from the pockets of a few steel-studded leather jacket men squatting on the roadside, smoking and looking like thugs. One of the guys seemed to have some Transcendent traits, and he noticed the wallet disappear from their waistband. Standing up, he saw the wallet floating in the air simply disappear. He was about to raise an alarm when Malin gave a shy smile and with a small hand gesture, the guy turned around and performed a tactical lean back before smashing his head into the wall. The thug shattered the marble panel of the wall and fell to the ground with a bloodied face. The police and drones arriving in response to the incident were somewhat at a loss at the thugs lying on the ground and their bewildered companions. Until their drone reported the thug’s crime – destruction of public property. Malin watched as the thugs and their companions were escorted into the police cars by the officers. He sighed for their future and lamented their unproductive past while sorting the coins from several wallets into categories in front of him. The wallets reassembled themselves, with the finest leather among them forming the newest one.
