"Not at all, but my spiritual sensitivity is very low, only a one." The captain’s answer made Malin somewhat laugh and cry—such a level of sensitivity wouldn’t normally allow even a Wraith to interact with him. "But for an average citizen, their intensity wouldn’t be a three, so I wonder... could it be some sort of mysterious power?" The captain said clearly while gnawing on his meat. "...Yeah, so, I’ve decided to go in and take a look." Malin made up his mind. After finishing his own grilled meat, Malin wiped his mouth, checked all his gear, and hung Bippo’s little nest on the front of his waist on the left side. "I’ll lead the way for you," Eleven walked ahead. "Wait a minute, sir, let me join you inside," the captain said. Malin turned to look at him, "Are your men okay?" "They’ll be fine, sir. My old teammate Jack will take good care of the two kids," the captain said as he tossed a bone behind him and picked up the longsword and double-barreled shotgun beside his foot. "Alright then, let’s go," Malin nodded, gesturing for the captain to walk on his left side. Entering the mist, Malin felt a trace of chilly air, but besides that, he had no other sensations. Eleven was still in front of him, and the level one captain walked to his left, pointing ahead: "Let’s walk a bit further ahead, there’s a sheep pen and the owner’s cottage up front." "Yes, there is indeed a sheep pen and a cottage," Eleven said as he turned on the light behind him, allowing Malin to see him very clearly. The captain at that moment caught the emergency flare light Malin threw to him, and hooked it on his left arm’s shoulder strap. Malin also turned on the light on his shoulder. "The mist is thickening," Malin observed the surrounding fog with some bewilderment and looked toward the level one captain, "What about your feelings?" "I feel more or less the same as before," said the captain, looking to his left. "Mr. Malin, how come you’re getting further away?" "Eleven!" Malin shouted. Eleven immediately turned around: "Mr. Malin! What is it..." He looked at Malin and then immediately shouted, "Danger! Behind you!" The sensation of his hair standing on end made Malin take a step back, the shield formed by Lorrin blocked a strike from behind, and when Malin turned around, he saw a humanoid creature with a face twisted in madness. Its bare body was pale and bloodless, and its left hand had become a bone blade-like monstrosity. "Purification!" Malin slapped a Purification Spell Formation onto the captain, the level one screamed, and then finally focused his attention on Malin, "Damn! I’m possessed!" Putting away the assault rifle, Malin drew out his Pastoral Staff and plunged it into the ground: "Let there be light!" Sacred light spread from the tip of the staff, where a World Tree Sapling Melo circlet-shaped spell amplifier was located, illuminating the surrounding mist. At least three Wraiths were purified in an instant, and more distorted creatures appeared at the illuminated edges. "We can’t see them in the infrared spectrum!" Eleven warned loudly while deploying the high-frequency molecular blades from his arms, "These things are different from what I saw on the northern tundra! Are they still alive?!" "They are Chaos creatures!" The captain drew his longsword, exposing his back to Malin, "Damn, I didn’t see them before! Did they spread from the town?!" "Why didn’t I notice them when I went in before," Eleven was puzzled. "Because you are inanimate, and we are biological, Eleven," Malin had Bippo bless the captain while reloading the assault rifle. Meanwhile, Fio had killed the creature that ambushed them with Blood Roar. It was fast, but not faster than the axe that could rotate seven hundred and twenty degrees and backflip seven and a half times. Mana turned into a hound, grabbed a small thing trying to ambush Malin, and dragged it in front of him. This was a Chaos Hound about the size of a child, a former child that now had compound eyes and a three-part jaw filled with sharp fine teeth. Its spine not only curved but also grew bone spikes piercing through the skin, with a whip-like bone tail at the end of its spine. At that moment, the distorted beings howled as they launched their attack. "There are too many! Be careful!" Eleven quickly provided a response that he couldn’t fully handle. "Don’t panic, leave it to me," Malin said, lifting his left hand. Spiritual Energy was rapidly gathering, and as the distorted creatures drew closer, Malin released his clenched palm as they jumped. Spiritual Energy blossomed like a flower in his hand, then sacred invisible flames spread from Malin’s hand, sweeping across the distorted beings—any that came into contact with it were instantly reduced to ashes. Watching hundreds of distorted beings wiped out by Malin in one sweep, Eleven turned to look at Malin, "Is this the new power of humanity in the new era?" "After the Chaos invasion, this is the power humans use to protect themselves," Malin nodded, then looked towards the distant fog: "Now there are two possibilities; one is that Chaos has opened a node here, if we proceed, the enemies will become more numerous. The other possibility is that this region, like Carterburg, has come into close contact with Subspace, something ordinary Mortals cannot withstand, eventually becoming twisted and distorted."
