Adrian Grant leaned on the sofa, dazed and disoriented. One night, either nightmares or sudden awakenings, he woke up to look at the empty room, feeling hollow inside, lonely and full of sorrow. He heard the sound of a child crying from next door. He got up and went over. He arrived at Evelyn’s bed, noticing that she was crying even in her sleep. Crying and continually calling for her sister and mom, Adrian’s heart felt pricked, he bent down and held her tight in his arms. Evelyn was half asleep, her face full of tears. Her weak cries were still choked with sobs: "Mom, please don’t leave me?" ᴛʜɪs ᴄʜᴀᴘᴛᴇʀ ɪs ᴜᴘᴅᴀᴛᴇ ʙʏ noᴠelfire.net "I’m sorry, it’s because I didn’t take good care of sister, and that’s how she got lost." "Mom, I miss you and sister so much." "Where are you, please come back?" She kept crying, kept calling... Adrian’s heart felt wrenched. Seeing dawn was near, fearing the child might wake, unable to explain to her, Adrian had no choice but to put Evelyn back on the bed. He got up and left, calling Ms. Ford over to keep the child company while she slept. Back in his room, Adrian changed his clothes and went to the police station early to inquire about any updates. But the police still had no clues. Not only couldn’t they find Raina Lowell and Aurora, but even the real culprit hadn’t been found. Even though they had the suspect’s voice and phone number, there was no progress. Adrian returned disappointed. Upon reaching Lowell Manor, he happened to see Evelyn sneak out the door alone, attempting to run outside. Adrian immediately grabbed her and held her tight in his arms, pretending to be stern: "Evelyn, where are you going?" The little fellow’s eyes were red and swollen, like she’d been stung by bees. Looking at Adrian, she couldn’t hold back her tears, which streamed down unchecked. "I want to find mom and sister, it’s been two days since I last saw them, and I can’t reach them, Uncle Adrian, can you take me to find them?" Even though Uncle Sheridan advised her, saying she was too young to be of any help outside. But she couldn’t stay at home. She was afraid something might happen to mom and sister. Afraid to be alone in this world. She couldn’t live without mom and sister, having not seen them, she couldn’t rest easy. Adrian held the child tightly in his arms, his eyes turned red, his voice became hoarse. "The police have already gone out looking, if they’re found, they’ll bring mom and sister back, can you wait at home patiently?" Evelyn struggled in his arms, cried out: "Uncle Adrian, let go of me, I want mom and sister, I want to search for them myself." "Even I couldn’t find them, where could you search?" Adrian couldn’t possibly feel at ease letting a two-year-old go out to search, he picked up Evelyn and brought her inside. Evelyn was unwilling, she kept struggling in his embrace. "Don’t bother me, let go..." Upon hearing the commotion, Madam Cole and Ms. Ford hurried downstairs. Seeing the gentleman holding Evelyn, they rushed over to nod and apologize: "Sorry, sir, we didn’t notice her causing you trouble again." Adrian’s expression reached the extreme, handing the child to them, he coldly reprimanded: "If I hadn’t just returned from outside, she would’ve run out, you know how serious the consequences are if such a small child runs out?" "If this happens again, you won’t have to serve." "Yes, yes, we’re sorry, it’s our oversight." Ms. Ford quickly held Evelyn with promises to console her, took her back upstairs to wash. Adrian went to the living room. He couldn’t calm down, couldn’t work, nor could he eat anything. He sat on the sofa alone, bending forward, inserting his fingers into his hair, in pain and choked. Especially with the entire day, he awaited any news of Raina Lowell, he was spiritless, lacked vitality. When Elias Sheridan and Caleb Landon arrived, they didn’t bring any good news either. Evelyn still cried fiercely, Elias went to accompany her first. In the living room, Caleb Landon looked at the president’s dispirited and lifeless appearance, heart turned heavy. "President, maybe you should eat something first then go back to the old mansion and explain the situation, perhaps... she won’t return." They couldn’t just keep waiting. It’s been three days. Lady and Aurora surely wouldn’t come back. They need to be laid to rest. Though their bodies hadn’t been found, they have to arrange a funeral, transcend them to reincarnation. Adrian was in a trance, having barely eaten in three days, he was already extremely worn out. His stubble grew longer. He lowered his eyelids, firmly stating: "Not finding the bodies proves they’re still alive." "It’s only been three days, send more people to continue searching, we’ll surely find them." Caleb Landon wanted to say something, seeing the president’s cold gaze on him. He swallowed the words back. For these three days, he not only asked the police to search but also dispatched many bodyguards. But not a single clue was found. Even if the search continued, it wouldn’t mean much. But since the president refused to give up, he could only comply with arrangements to let them continue searching. Caleb Landon prepared to turn and leave, Adrian’s hoarse voice sounded, "Take me to the cliffside." He wanted to join in the search. Just in case those people were negligent, missing the best chance to rescue Raina. Uneasy, he had to visit personally. Caleb Landon understood, assisted the president out the door, into the car. The sedan arrived at the cliffside, seeing the president weakly alight, staggering, afraid he might accidentally fall off the cliff. Caleb Landon supported him, cautioning, "President, let’s not stand forward, stay here!" Adrian pushed him away, walked alone to the cliff’s edge, looked at the marks from where the car had fallen, recalling Raina had plunged from there. Facing the gusting sea breeze, his whole body stiffened, frozen. To call Raina back fast. If she could return, he’d agree to everything. He wouldn’t entangle with Isabelle Everett anymore. In the future, he’d raise those two children with her, live well as a family of four. Yet his voice choked hoarsely, struggling to speak even two words, how could he shout? Adrian feared his marriage might really lack Raina Lowell’s presence. Standing there, unknowingly, tears moistened his eyes again. At this moment, Caleb Landon received a call. It was from the police, seemingly having found some clues. He was thrilled, looking at Adrian ahead, "President, there’s news from the police." Hearing this, Adrian suddenly became energized, turned and walked to Caleb Landon, excitedly grabbing him. "Really? News about Raina?" "Yes, right there by the coast, let’s go see now." Adrian was unwilling to wait any longer, immediately got in the car, followed Caleb Landon to the beach. From the cliffside to the beach, it was just traversing a few kilometers of winding mountain road. Within merely ten minutes, the two reached their destination. After disembarking, Adrian swiftly ran towards the police. The police, seeing them arrive, presented a tray, inquiring: "Could you recognize if these are the victim’s belongings?"
