Hugo quickly pulled her back into his arms. "How could I regret it? I’m just afraid that I’m dreaming." His voice was hoarse, filled with deep emotion, making Eleanor feel more at ease. The two of them stayed in each other’s embrace for a while without saying anything, as if just being together was enough. When Lan Yancy pushed the door open, he saw this scene. Wisely, he shut the door again and stood outside. Strange, how is it that every time he comes over, he interrupts the boss and Miss Hollis’s good moment? Eleanor also heard the door open. She saw Lan Yancy glance at her and then slowly close the door, causing her to twitch her mouth and rise from Hugo’s embrace. Hugo suddenly felt an emptiness in his arms, clearly not having had enough. But now that they were a couple, he could hug her anytime he wanted. Lan Yancy stood outside for a while, estimating that the couple’s tenderness should be over before he pushed the door open and went in. "Boss, this is the contract you just sent out, it needs your signature." Hugo was in a great mood, his eyes and brows filled with smiles. He took the contract, signing his name with a flourish before smiling. Lan Yancy nodded, seeing Eleanor already upstairs, he couldn’t help but gossip a bit. "Boss, are you and Eleanor...?" "We’re together now." Hugo had a feeling of pride, slightly raising his head, unable to hide the satisfaction on his face. "Congratulations, Boss." Lan Yancy appropriately flattered him, thinking how unbelievable it was that Miss Hollis actually agreed. The smile in Hugo’s eyes grew even wider, and he raised his eyebrows slowly. "Lan Yancy, the method you taught me really worked, I’ll give you a raise." Previously, he had asked Lan Yancy how to pursue a girl and make her willingly fall for him. Lan Yancy advised not to press too hard, occasionally be romantic, and most importantly, guilt was the easiest emotion to make women compromise. So while his hand was injured, he occasionally sent affectionate glances to Eleanor, and unexpectedly, it worked in the end. Though Lan Yancy had never been in a relationship, his theoretical knowledge was extensive enough to become Hugo’s advisor. Hearing about the raise, he was very happy, took the contract again, and said some words of congratulations before leaving. Hugo sat there for a while and then followed upstairs. "Eleanor, what are you doing?" Eleanor was standing by Marcus, tutoring him with his homework. Marcus was quite sensible, probably understanding that they needed some alone time, cleverly deciding to do his homework. "Dad, your smile is very..." Marcus saw Hugo, lowered his head, and pondered the right word, but couldn’t think of a fitting one. "Your mom agreed to be with me, should I be happy?" Hugo ruffled Marcus’s hair, noting how well-behaved Marcus had been these days, not disturbing them. Today was the weekend; ordinarily, he’d cling to Eleanor to play with him, but not today; instead, he quietly went up to work on something. As expected, he was truly his son, justified by all the years of effort spent on him. Marcus was thrilled, looking at Hugo, then Eleanor. "Now my classmates won’t say I don’t have a mom anymore!" ɪꜰ ʏᴏᴜ ᴡᴀɴᴛ ᴛᴏ ʀᴇᴀᴅ ᴍᴏʀᴇ ᴄʜᴀᴘᴛᴇʀs, ᴘʟᴇᴀsᴇ ᴠɪsɪᴛ 𝙣𝙤𝙫𝙚𝙡·𝕗𝕚𝕣𝕖·𝔫𝔢𝔱 He originally mentioned it casually, not expecting Hugo to hear it clearly. Hugo’s brow furrowed, his face unhappy. "Has someone at school been teasing you?" His child, how could anyone have the right to mock him. Marcus scratched his head, feeling it wasn’t quite teasing, just something that had been said. "No, it’s just that they asked why my mom doesn’t pick me up from school, and I didn’t know what to say." A hint of pain flashed in Hugo’s eyes, thinking that Grace might be in jail at the moment, he felt even more compassion for his son. Eleanor said nothing, always having thought the child didn’t care about Grace’s situation, but now realized he did care. "It’s okay, Marcus. I’ll pick you up whenever I have the chance." Marcus happily held her hand, his eyes shining brightly at her. Eleanor actually just spoke on impulse; after all, considering Marcus’s status, there probably weren’t many who didn’t recognize him. If those teachers saw her, would there be more gossip? But seeing the child so happy, she let it go. "Yeah, I’ll go with your dad to pick you up." Hugo looked at Eleanor gently, realizing more and more how much he liked this woman; she genuinely treated Marcus as her own child. The two of them tutored the child with his homework for a while until Marcus said he was tired and wanted to take a nap. Hugo and Eleanor quietly left the room. Initially about Grace, Hugo had intended to keep it from both Marcus and Eleanor, but suddenly, recalling how the matter involved Eleanor personally, he decided it was better to tell her. Grace wasn’t a mere acquaintance; she shared a complex bond with Eleanor. He opened up slowly, watching Eleanor’s eyes first flash with surprise, then understanding. "The masked person last time, was it related to her? Did you send her in?" Hugo nodded, his lips pressed tightly. "I couldn’t let her have the chance to harm you again." A trace of warmth flickered in Eleanor’s eyes. In the afternoon, she still went to see Grace. She wasn’t sure why she needed to go, just felt there was something left unsaid between her and Grace. Grace seemed agitated upon seeing her, wildly attempting to rush forward, but with iron bars between them, she could only grasp the bars with her hands. "Eleanor Hollis, have you come to mock me? Are you happy knowing my situation now? I’m telling you, don’t be smug! Hugo Quinn will never end up with you! It’s impossible for you two!" In contrast to Grace’s agitation, Eleanor was very calm. "I’m already with him." Grace paused, then erupted into manic laughter. "Hugo is truly heartless; despite our years together, he’s really ruthless. You two despicable people, I’ll take the biggest secret to my grave, never letting you know, hahahaha." Grace’s face contorted, her fingers turned white from gripping tightly, her hateful glare piercing Eleanor like daggers. Eleanor squinted her eyes; what could the biggest secret be? Grace continued her maniacal laughter, eventually succumbing to tears. "I’ll curse you both to a terrible fate." Eleanor suddenly understood why she had come here. "Grace, Hugo said you were not good to Marcus. Marcus is your biological son, so why do you dislike him so much? Since you know how much Hugo cares about Marcus, why harm him in secret, making Marcus renounce you as his mother? You know, you played your good cards terribly."
