His speed was so fast, she almost threw up. The man’s voice suddenly came, carrying a hint of coldness. Eleanor Hollis quickly held on tightly, her whole body stiff, not daring to move. The car quickly collided with another, the violent sound of collision ringing in their ears, Eleanor even felt that there must be sparks where the two cars rubbed against each other. The configuration of the other car was obviously not as good as this one, it was quickly hit under the overpass, and then a flame shot up into the sky, it seemed that car exploded. Eleanor breathed a sigh of relief and quickly suppressed the feeling of nausea in her stomach. The man had a sinister smile on his face, gripping the steering wheel tightly. "If it weren’t for you tonight, I’d be dead. This car is really good, I will repay you in the future." Eleanor still didn’t speak, listening to the man’s tone, he didn’t seem like a bad person. Gunfire was still ringing outside, but this car had been modified, bulletproof, so even if bullets hit the car body, they couldn’t harm them at all. Eleanor felt a bit pained, she shouldn’t have driven Hugo Quinn’s car out, otherwise, she wouldn’t have been targeted by this man. The car made several turns on the overpass, knocking down four or five cars chasing behind, before coming off the overpass, heading towards the outskirts. There were still gunshots coming from behind, but clearly not as dense as before. The man’s breath loosened, his face pale, clutching his abdomen. Only then did Eleanor notice that his abdomen was still bleeding, and the blood had already pooled in the car, the whole cabin smelled of blood. "You drive, I’m about to faint, otherwise we’re in danger." He turned his head to look at Eleanor, only then did she notice, this man was incredibly handsome, unlike Hugo’s indifference, he was like a demon, speaking with fox-like eyes locking onto you tightly. Although she didn’t want to admit it, their lives were now tied together, if anything happened to this man, she probably wouldn’t survive either. The car stopped, neither of them got out, unsure of how far the vehicles behind were, they switched positions in the car. The man’s throat let out a groan of pain, breathing raggedly. "Speed up, or we’ll be caught, they’re ruthless, dead set on killing me tonight." Eleanor nodded, gritting her teeth, flooring the gas pedal. A trace of satisfaction flashed across the man’s face, hopeful for the young. Since they had just stopped, the cars behind quickly caught up, now crazily crashing into the car body. Eleanor fiercely turned the steering wheel, doing a tail swing, directly sending that car flying off. The man in the passenger seat clearly didn’t expect her operation to be so skilled, couldn’t help but curve his eyes. "Looks like heaven hasn’t abandoned me, sent you to save me." Eleanor rolled her eyes, too lazy to argue with him, continuing to push the gas pedal. The man clutched his abdomen, continuously giving her directions. Finally, the car stopped outside a yard, the chasing cars had already left. The man said with a pale face, slowly leaning back in the seat. Eleanor quickly opened the car door, came to the other side, opened his car door, helping him out. "Let’s go in, this is my place, they don’t dare come here." Eleanor nodded, carefully supporting him, walking towards the entrance. The door had a code lock, she didn’t know the code. The man’s voice was weak, seemingly about to faint any second. Eleanor’s heart tightened, hurriedly entered the code, then helped him inside. No one was inside, everything in the house was simple, but Eleanor had been with Hugo for a while, naturally spotting the luxury everywhere. "Could you help me apply some medicine, the first aid kit is under the cabinet by the entrance." Seeing how serious his injury was, Eleanor felt embarrassed to just leave, quickly found the first aid kit, cutting open his clothes at the injury. He had been shot, and the area around the bullet was red with heat, a scarlet bullet hole hanging there, looking terrifying. "Sorry to scare you, the bullet needs to be removed." The man said this, then slowly closed his eyes. There was no professional doctor here, Eleanor was just an amateur, but there was no time for hesitation, she could only pick up the tweezers. "It will hurt a lot, bear with it." The man nodded, his forehead covered in cold sweat. When Eleanor inserted the tweezers, he let out a muffled groan, large beads of sweat rolling down his smooth face. Eleanor couldn’t bear it, but clenched her teeth, grasping the bullet, The man endured the pain, his lips bitten to the point of bleeding, without opening his eyes. Eleanor discarded the bullet, relieved, began applying medicine to the wound. Applying the medicine also hurt, but the man endured, not making any further sound. Eleanor wrapped the wound with a bandage, finding him already asleep, heavy dark circles under his eyes. That he could sleep in this condition meant he was truly exhausted. She stood aside, suddenly slapped her forehead, realizing she hadn’t told Hugo where she was and needed to call him immediately. "Eleanor, where did you go?" Hugo’s voice was gentle, probably coming out of the kitchen not seeing her, looking for her. "I’m at Samantha Sullivan’s, Samantha’s feeling down, I plan to stay with her for a while." Hugo wasn’t suspicious, in his mind, Eleanor wouldn’t lie. Thɪs chapter is updatᴇd by 𝗻𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗹~𝓯𝓲𝓻𝓮~𝚗𝚎𝚝 After hanging up, Eleanor quickly called Samantha, getting their stories straight, then relaxed. The man’s ears twitched but he didn’t open his eyes, assured that someone was there to look after him, he peacefully fainted. Eleanor sat nearby, having heard that severely injured people might have a fever, since she had helped this far, she didn’t mind helping a little more. At midnight, the man indeed started having a fever, his whole body burning. Eleanor found the antipyretics, fearing he couldn’t swallow, specially dissolved them in water, then pinched his jaw, feeding him. The man slowly opened his watery eyes, just glanced at her, said nothing, continuing to sleep. After feeding the medicine, Eleanor got a cloth, washed it, placed it on his forehead. She didn’t know why she was helping him, maybe it was the occasional loneliness in his eyes that hurt her, because she once had the same look, but after meeting Hugo, she got much better.
