The passerby saw the bloodstains, screamed, and then pulled back the curtain. The first girl to discover Eleanor Hollis took a big step back, then fainted directly. Eleanor’s face was deathly pale, leaning against the wall with her eyes tightly shut. Hugo Quinn pushed through the crowd and walked over. Seeing her lying there silently, his heart thudded harshly. "Lan Yancy, is she dead?" He murmured, not daring to move closer, frozen in place. Lan Yancy’s eyes rimmed with tears, he strode over and reached out to feel in front of Eleanor. "Boss, there’s still breath, we need to get her to the hospital right away." Eleanor’s current appearance was too despairing, her clothes were soaked with blood, as was her arm. Hugo walked over on trembling legs, trying to lift her, but he had no strength. His hands were as limp as noodles, completely unable to hold this woman. "Lan Yancy, Lan Yancy, you carry her." He spoke in despair, trembling and stuck to the side. Lan Yancy knew he was scared out of his wits, so he quickly bent down to hold Eleanor, leaving a few people to tidy up, and then headed to the hospital. While in the car, Hugo kept reaching out to check under Eleanor’s nose, as if to see if she was truly still alive. The car arrived at the hospital, and it was still Lan Yancy carrying Eleanor as the doctors rushed to take her into the emergency room. This situation of excessive blood loss was very dangerous; no one could say for sure what would happen. Hugo sat in the corridor, his eyes bloodshot, legs limp, unable to stand. "Boss, don’t worry, Miss Hollis won’t leave you just like that." All night, Eleanor still hadn’t been brought out, and by the next day, two more people arrived at the hospital, one was Nicholas Hollis, and the other was Rachel Lynch. Nicholas Hollis did not recognize Rachel Lynch, after all, she had a different face now. He had flown overnight upon hearing something happened to Eleanor, completely unable to sit still. "How’s Eleanor? Is she alright?" He asked with white lips; he had only this one daughter, she couldn’t possibly have anything wrong. Hugo seemed dazed, as if he hadn’t heard the question. Lan Yancy knew the boss was probably lost until Miss Hollis woke up, then he’d come to. He sighed, speaking slowly. "Mr. Hollis, we are not sure of the situation either, Miss Hollis was taken in last night and hasn’t come out since." Rachel Lynch covered her mouth, unable to care about past grievances with Nicholas Hollis, she rushed forward. "Is she severely injured?" As she spoke, tears rolled down her face. Lan Yancy was astonished to look at this woman, seemingly not recognizing her, could she be Miss Hollis’s relative? "I...I am her mother." Rachel Lynch clenched her fists, closing her eyes slowly. Nicholas Hollis had been frozen upon hearing her voice; though he hadn’t heard it for over a decade, they had lived together for so many years, both were intimately familiar with each other’s voices. He trembled as he spoke, seeing Rachel Lynch smile bitterly. "I never thought I’d meet you again , Nicholas Hollis. You must have been living well these years, leaving our daughter behind and letting that woman live in the old house." Nicholas Hollis stepped back; if it wasn’t for this person personally admitting it, he never would’ve recognized her, because the face was too foreign. "Your... your face, how could it..." Rachel Lynch touched her own face, seeing the man’s shock, her lips curved. "Surprised? Back when Alice Lynch pushed me into the water, I was disfigured by stones, and after waking up and treating the wounds, I returned to Serenford only to learn Alice was pregnant. One was my sister, the other my husband, you really are good people." Nicholas Hollis was struck to the point of turning deathly pale, his body nearly bent over. Even though Eleanor had previously told him the truth, he never expected Rachel Lynch had endured much more than he could imagine. He tried to argue, but found that the facts were just as Rachel said; he had brought a fake Rachel Lynch home, giving her all his love. Rachel’s eyes filled with bitterness, her daughter was inside enduring unknown life and death, she absolutely had no heart to deal with past grievances, as long as her daughter recovered, she could let go of everything. "Stella, I’m... I’m sorry." Nicholas Hollis said painfully, unable to lift his head. He remembered when he first met this person, she asked him why he was called Serenford. "Is it Serenford like the city? Your parents were so lazy to just use the city’s name." He was born in Serenford, and the old man thought it was a beautiful city, thus he simply named him after it. It was also because of this name that Rachel Lynch remembered him. Their early romance was idyllic; like countless couples, they once went through a period of passionate love. Later on, something unknowable changed everything; perhaps after success, men often can’t see what’s in front of them. He grew tired of their feelings, so he went out seeking artistic inspiration. Rachel Lynch always accompanied him, like his shadow. Everyone said their relationship was great, yet he became anxious and uneasy, burying himself in painting day after day. Rachel Lynch didn’t answer him. All the hurt couldn’t be erased by a simple apology. With Alice Lynch still around, she could never forgive the Hollis Family. Nicholas Hollis knew this too, so he sat down dejectedly beside Hugo without saying another word. Updates are released by 𝕟𝕠𝕧𝕖𝕝·𝕗𝕚𝕣𝕖·𝕟𝕖𝕥 After hearing Rachel Lynch admit her identity, Lan Yancy learned of their entanglement, but that was their family affair, so he remained silent. Hugo seemed to snap back to reality, lifting his gaze towards the emergency room, then glanced at Nicholas Hollis and Rachel Lynch. Towards these two, he didn’t exactly dislike them, nor could he say he liked them. He sneered, his tone cold. Nicholas Hollis and Rachel Lynch both tensed, knowing he was Eleanor’s boyfriend now, they were left speechless, unable to refute. "In the past twenty years, you were heartless to your own daughter, and now at her life-and-death moment, no need for fake pretenses. I’m certain Eleanor doesn’t need this, she told me she didn’t want to see you, she’s long given up hope on parental love." Rachel Lynch felt a piercing pain in her heart, closing her eyes with remorse. Though Hugo was practically throwing them out, she still refused to leave, she needed to ensure Eleanor’s safety. Nicholas Hollis didn’t leave either; the two stood there as if frozen in place. Hugo, having uttered such a scornful sentence, didn’t speak further. Whether Eleanor wanted to see these two individuals or not, only she knew her own heart. Two more hours passed before the door of the emergency room finally opened, and Eleanor was pushed out, prompting everyone to rush over immediately.
