Chloe’s presence had brought her a lot of trouble, but that was her daughter, and she never wanted her to suffer even a bit. She remained silent, her head lowered in tension. Old Master Quinn ordered someone to fetch Chloe’s hair, and then had someone pull a hair from Hugo’s head. "Miss Shaw, you don’t need to be so tense. What is yours will be yours." The old master spoke slowly again. Eleanor Hollis felt that the old master was indirectly speaking to her, wanting her to understand that Hugo did not belong to her. Her body was tense, and a sudden wave of bitterness stirred within her, leaving her unsure of what to do. Hugo reached out and held her tightly, his eyes full of comfort. "It’s okay, you have to trust me." He said lightly, watching as the people from Quinton Manor took the two strands of hair and left, presumably heading to the hospital. The person was someone the old master trusted greatly, who had followed him for many years, so he surely wouldn’t cause any trouble. Everyone could only wait here quietly for the answer. The man had just stepped out of Quinton Manor with the hair when the third member of the Quinton Family walked in. Since the second brother went abroad, the Quinton Group had fallen into the third’s hands, and everyone had grown increasingly respectful of him. The third brother, over these years, had been so devoted to the Quinton Group that he neglected his own life’s major affairs. The old master was impressed by this and entrusted the company to him with confidence. Previously, although the third brother had ambition and had minor conflicts with Hugo, after the incident with the second brother, he had become thoroughly restrained, spending all his time at the company, not thinking of anything else. Now he saw the servant rushing out and couldn’t help but ask. "What happened, why are you in such a hurry?" The servant still held the two strands of hair, carefully wrapped in tissue. "A little girl came to Quinton Manor, and the old master suspects that the little girl is the fourth young master’s illegitimate daughter, so I’m going to do a paternity test." Simon Quinn raised his eyebrows, hadn’t the fourth brother already had a son? Where did this daughter come from? Thinking this, he smiled and pointed to his car. "Let my driver take you over. Since the old master suspects, it indicates that the little girl probably looks a lot like the fourth." The man quickly thanked him and got into his car. Simon Quinn’s driver hurriedly stepped on the accelerator, taking the man to the hospital. But when they passed the intersection, the car jolted, and the man dropped one strand of hair. He quickly kneeled down, searching within the carriage, and eventually found a strand. He breathed a sigh of relief, wiped the sweat from his face, knowing the old master placed great importance on this matter and must not mess it up. Meanwhile, back at Quinton Manor, everyone sat seriously until Simon Quinn came in. Simon Quinn saw the woman sitting before the old master and raised his brows, then looked at Eleanor sitting beside Hugo, realizing tonight was quite the show. "Third brother, you’re back." The old master spoke lightly, the corners of his eyes and brows were filled with mirth. "Dad, why is tonight so lively?" Though he knew what was happening, he deliberately asked. Old Master Quinn sighed and then brought Chloe’s photo over, which he had just taken. "Look at this little girl, isn’t she very much like Hugo? I’m worried she’s a child Hugo left outside, so I sent someone to do a paternity test." Simon Quinn raised his eyebrows, he had to admit, if it were him, he would certainly suspect this too, because they indeed looked alike. He found it amusing, but even if they looked alike, it couldn’t mean anything. After all, Quinton Family members look, he even thought the child resembled him too. Probably because Hugo always stood out in the family, everyone watched out only for the child’s resemblance to him. Simon Quinn sat down beside, a smile on his lips. Originally, he was very tired today and wanted to go home and sleep, but now that the family had such a drama, he decided to watch till the end. After sitting down, Simon Quinn kept observing Hugo and found him very calm, feeling that his brother didn’t seem the type to have children outside. When he had a child with Grace Lynch, it was due to eating something unclean. The butler placed a cup of tea in front of him, his favorite Da Hong Pao. Simon Quinn’s eyebrows instantly relaxed, "Thank you, Uncle Cameron, so late at night, you should go and rest." ɴᴇᴡ ɴᴏᴠᴇʟ ᴄʜᴀᴘᴛᴇʀs ᴀʀᴇ ᴘᴜʙʟɪsʜᴇᴅ ᴏɴ 𝕟𝕠𝕧𝕖𝕝⁂𝙛𝙞𝙧𝙚⁂𝔫𝔢𝔱 Old Cameron shook his head; he was just as concerned about the paternity test result. If she truly was the fourth young master’s daughter, then what about Miss Hollis? Actually, ever since that incident on the island, he quite liked Miss Hollis, at least she genuinely loved Hugo and was truly good to him. Everyone was silent now, waiting for the result. Eleanor grew increasingly anxious, her palms sweaty, she was even prepared for the worst. If it turned out to be Hugo’s child, given the old master’s temperament, he would definitely demand they marry. Though the old master did many things poorly, he taught the men of the Quinton Family one crucial thing: responsibility. Back then Old Master Quinn made Hugo marry Grace Lynch because she was pregnant with his child, despite her not being up to par in many ways, but with the child, the doors to the family were open to her. Both she and Grace Lynch were raised in the countryside and technically had no chance to marry into such a prestigious family, but still, the old master welcomed them into the family. Now, with Jane Shaw bringing back another child, if the child were Hugo’s, he must marry this woman, or else the whole Quinton Family would be in chaos. Eleanor’s gaze shifted towards Jane Shaw, sweat pooling in her palms. Hugo sensed her nervousness, gently wrapping his arm around her shoulder, feeling some pity. "Don’t worry, it won’t be that result, Eleanor, I promise you." He said softly, but Eleanor couldn’t listen, as time passed, she grew more nervous, her body trembling slightly. Yet with the other family members around, she couldn’t lose her composure, so she tightly grasped her clothes, discreetly wiping the sweat from her palms. Simon Quinn watched their expressions, now feeling a little sorry for Eleanor. Previously an unwelcome shadow for five years in the family, she thought she’d found her true love, only to face such a situation. It must be hard for her. Life indeed, is never smooth. Jane Shaw was also quite nervous, but her nervousness wasn’t from the old master, but from the man sitting beside her. She always felt there was a familiar sense about this man, but couldn’t pinpoint where it was familiar from.
