Chapter Ten - Raina Holy shit . Holy shit . HOLY SHIT . Those were the only two words my brain could come up with right now . I know I should be panicking since all my plans have now gone up in smoke but as I packed my small amount of belongings , all I could feel was excitement . Excitement and a whole lot of desire for the man who just defended me . Weather wanted to tear Stephen limb from limb for his ignorant comment towards us but quickly swooned when Xander had the idiot by the throat . Watching him use violence in our honor was the biggest turn on . I wondered if Alpha David got upset with Xander for almost killing his son in law . I had scurried out of the room before I could see his reaction . Even if Alpha David was pissed , I doubt Xander would give a shit . As I packed the last of my belongings , the panic began to set in . What was I going to do now ? It was easy to pretend Xander wasn't my mate when I knew he was leaving but now he's taking me to his pack . What was he even taking me for anyway ? It's not like he knows we are mates . I could feel my heart rate skyrocket , the anxiety slowly creeping in . A cold sweat broke out over my body and my hands started to shake . A panic attack was slowly taking me over . " Calm down Raina , everything is going to be fine . " I scoffed at my wolf . " How can you say that ? Our plans have completely changed and now we're going to live with our mate who we can't have . The same mate we have been lying to since we met him . We can't tell him the truth Weather it will only put him in danger . " 1 I sounded like I was two seconds from falling off the deep end of insanity . I was in full panic mode and could not stop freaking out . I had to sit on the floor and lean against the bed in case I passed out . " Put your head in your hands and breath . You need to calm down . Freaking out is not going to solve anything . " I did as Weather instructed and tried to take deep breaths of the oxygen my lungs were so desperate for . " We will come up with a new plan , okay ? We just came into full power a couple months ago and have a lot we need to learn before we decide to take on Arrick and his rogues . " 1 Weather was right . We had so much we still needed to do before we were ready and staying in this pack was just holding us back . I'm sure Xander would let me train with his warriors if I asked . I'd just do my best to focus on training and try to resist the mate bond as much as possible . 1 " See ? This will be good for us Raina . Getting Arrick off that throne is top priority and that won't change , but I think we need to eventually tell Xander who we are . " " No. No way Weather . He was appointed Head Alpha by Arrick . The moment we tell Xander who we are , everyone else will know too and it will only be a matter of time before Arrick finds out . There's no telling what he would do to Xander . We already know he'd do anything to get his hands on us especially since he lost the Royal power when we turned eighteen . He knows we're alive and out there and he will stop at nothing to get what he wants . " I know Xander was named Head Alpha for a reason and he could defend himself but Arrick was once the Royal Beta , a name that he earned when he fought tooth and nail to prove himself to my father . Becoming Beta to the King was no easy feat . They had to be strong enough to stand by their King's side , and seeing how my father was the strongest King to be born in a thousand years , that made Arrick damn near unstoppable . Only Weather and I would be able to defeat him . 1 Weather went quiet after that and stalked to the back of my mind where she probably planned to ignore me for the rest of the day . I just wish she'd realize how hard this was on me too . I never cared about finding my mate because I had so many more important things to worry about but now that I've met Xander , a lot has changed . I wanted him . Goddess I wanted him so much but his safety was more important than my desires . If fate will have it , we'll eventually be able to be together . If not , well then that's a price I'm just going to have to pay . I grabbed my small duffle bag and made my way outside the packhouse where Xander and his group of warriors were waiting for me . I had to remind myself to take slow , shallow breaths to not show how shaken I was by this sudden change . I tried to slow my heart rate but instead it spiked at the sight of my mate . He truly was the most handsome man I'd ever seen . He was standing with his warriors , giving them instructions. Two walked down the steps , I'm sure to go pull the cars around for our departure . I couldn't help the way my heart skipped a beat when Xander's eyes lit up when he saw me . Off to the side was Alpha David with his family , though Stephen and Olive were nowhere in sight . Probably best Stephen stayed away from Xander in case he decided to say another stupid comment and get himself killed . As Xander walked over and took my duffle from me , I couldn't help but feel smug at the look on Gretchen's face . That's right , bitch . He's leaving and taking me with him . Not you . While I ignored the daggers she was glaring at me , I looked up at Xander and gave a small smile . " I can take that Alpha , it's not very heavy . " A frown slowly made its way onto his face . " Is this everything you have ? " I gave him a nod and said , " Yes that is all I needed while living here . ' The frown didn't leave his face but he kept the duffle anyway . He placed a hand on my lower back and steered me towards the Alpha family . While Xander shook Alpha David's hand , two blacked out SUVS pulled up behind us , " Thank you for all your help Alpha Xander . Please take care and hopefully we'll meet again . " 2/3 Chapter Ten Raina +15 BONUS Xander gave him a nod and said , " Remember to let me know how Stephen's progress goes . I'll be interested to hear how he's taking to his training . My warriors and elders should be here in a few days . " Stephens training ? Elders and Warriors ? Must have to do with why Xander was here in the first place . I bowed my head to Alpha David and Luna Christina in farewell before Xander returned his hand to my lower back , leading me to the waiting SUVS . Over my shoulder , I tossed Gretchen a smug smile and basked in the red shade her face turned . My action didn't go unnoticed by Xander as he shot me a sly smirk . After tossing my duffle bag into the trunk he opened the back door for me so I could slide in . The interior was all black leather and surprisingly comfortable . This would be the first time I'd ridden in the car in ten years and the thought made me a little queasy . Hopefully I didn't get motion sickness . Xander slid into the seat next to me while two warriors took the two front seats . Both were dressed in short sleeved plain black t - shirts and black cargo pants with boots . The one driving had a clean shaved head and a look that meant all business . It was usually the ones that looked the most intimidating that were true softies at heart . The one in the passenger seat had long sandy blonde hair tied back into a bun . He looked more approachable than his comrade but the large muscles on him let you know he could kick your ass if needed . Then there was my mate in all his god - like glory sitting next to me . His scent was slowly consuming the car as we pulled away from the packhouse and down the road that would lead out of the pack that had been my temporary home for the past ten years . No part of me would miss it here .
