Chapter 26 Naomi decided to work from home the next day. She intended to keep her dinner date with Theon but staying at home for the day meant she could at least keep contact with him to a minimum. Also without people watching them. Sitting at her desk, she watched Alex sitting on his special tiny armchair eating his carrot snacks and watching Bluey like he was afraid to blink in case he missed anything. Smiling at the sight of her sweet little boy she thought about how she was going to tell Theon he had a son. Really, given the way he was already trying to push the idea of going back to the pack, Naomi was reluctant to tell him as it meant he would be even pushier about it. But then whose to say being around his pack and his family may not help his health and although Lottie had helped a lot, parenting a sick child and working full time as a single parent had started to wear her down. There were too many days where caffeine wasn't working for her anymore! There was also a level of fear. Naomi messaged Peter for help Naomi: I want to tell him about Alex tonight but what if Theon doesn't want our son? What if he rejects the idea of him? Or worse what if he tries to take him from me, especially when he finds out I am the reason he is sick? Peter: Way to overthink Naomi. Just stay calm. He will be over the moon and he will do everything he can to help. The only person he will be mad at is Lilian and himself. Naomi: How do I break it to him? Peter: Gently and after he has paid for the food! Naomi: Thanks, I am not sure that was helpful.... Putting down her phone she watched Alex for a few more minutes before she got up to get ready for her date. It amused Naomi to think about the reaction 16 year old her would be having if she knew older her was about to go on a date with the great Alpha Theon. She was still counting down the seconds like she would have been but in a very different way. Naomi had insisted on meeting at the restaurant as she knew if he came to pick her up the Alex secret would be out in an instant. They arrived at the same time and were seated by an over eager young waiter who didn't know when to stop talking "What a lovely couple you two are" he beamed at them "You are a lucky man" he said to Theon before handing them menus. "Don't I know it" said Theon, smiling as he watched Naomi's pale skin start to turn a deep red. He could tell she was trying to restrain herself from kicking him under the table or saying something rude in response. Instead she began to study her menu like it was the most 1/3 important document she'd ever handled in her life. "I have a question" Theon said looking curiously at Naomi. "How do you keep changing your look and your scent? I would have thought you'd be a bit put off witches." Naomi smiled one of her smiles that said it was for her to know and not him. After a few moments she caved. "I told you the other day" she said pretending to be annoyed "but you don't listen. I have magic." Theon narrowed his eyes at her not sure whether to believe her or not as he had never shown any sign and her parents and brother certainly didn't have magic. "Since when?" he asked "Since I was born." She answered casually like the topic was boring her. "I am a direct descendant of the moon goddess. Rhys is not my biological family nor were my parents. They were guardians tasked with raising me somewhere safe away from people who wanted to control me and my magic." Theon still looked sceptical. Naomi just smiled at him "Put out your hand" she said. He did as she said, putting her hand over his she said "Tell me something small you have lost recently" "The top button of the jacket I came in tonight" Theon said and instantly he felt a sensation like something light but solid hit his palm, Naomi moved her hand away and there in his hand was a gold button, distinctive as the top button from his jacket because it had his family crest on it and none of the others did. "I can do some much bigger things, but I can't imagine you'd want that in the middle of a public place like this" Naomi said in a cheeky tone winking at him. Theon was astonished. He had always known Naomi was remarkable, to him there was no other woman or wolf like her but this was like the cherry on top for him, sealing it in his mind forever that his mate was perfect. "How have I known you since you were a pup and never known this?" he asked "No one was supposed to know." Naomi said shrugging. "The moon goddess told me to hide my gifts. I wasn't allowed to tell anyone until I told my mate after the mating ceremony as I needed the protection it would bring before I revealed my gifts" Theon felt a wave of shame roll over him. "Nai I am so sorry" "Stop apologising please." She asked. Wait until you see my wolf she thought. "let's talk about other things. How are your parents" she asked changing the subject. 2/3
