---- waist down. Not the worst outcome compared to... what my life was. I closed my eyes and... jumped. When I woke up, I was met with Anthony. He looked listless, but he was holding my hand tightly. Only when he saw me waking up did he release me with tears. "Don't cry," I said, summoning all the strength to raise an arm. It was the first time that Anthony didn't snap, choosing to only give me a tight hug. He had hugged me so tightly that I couldn't breathe, resulting in me patting his back to let go. Dad and Mom were standing on the other side. They were looking at me, their guilt evident. Anthony whispered into my ear, ''Lawrence found evidence of Yvette working with the loan sharks to ---- sabotage you. They're all in prison now." My mother wiped her tears and called my name, " Eve." She did not say anything for a while, so I, ever the understanding girl, spoke up. "Is it forgiveness you want from me? For Yvette? On what grounds? That you gave birth to me? That you spent your resources on me? If that's the case, I can forgive her." Anthony glared at me. My mother didn't look as happy as I thought she would. She quickly waved her hands, but she didn't talk to me. Maybe she was feeling uneasy. And so, she turned to my father. He sighed. ''Eve, your mother and I have seen the error in our ways. We shouldn't have blindly trusted Yvette."
