Chapter 12 Stumbling Upon A Beauty Jaziel ventured alone to Dream Bar. Just as he had stepped out of the car at the bars entrance, a wave of clamor reached his ears. There was a rather frivolous young man, evidently inebriated, who was flirting with a beautiful girl. The girl attempted to leave several times, but the man always managed to thwart her attempts and pull her back. Involuntarily, Jaziel halted in his tracks, a hint of bewilderment flickering in his gaze. It reminded him of three years ago when Anthony Zarkov was teasing Kimberly in the same manner. Back then, he grabbed a knife from a nearby butchers shop and charged forward. It was that impulsive moment that altered the course of his life. As Jaziel was lost in his thoughts, a fragrant breeze swept over him. In a state of panic, the girl rushed over to Jaziels side. She grabbed onto his arm, her voice carrying a hint of pleading as she said, Mister, help me. Before Jaziel had a chance to react, a group of drunken youths nearby completely surrounded him. One of them, a tall and skinny guy with an earring, pointed at Jaziels nose and roared, Back off! Dont freaking meddle. As he spoke, he pulled out a switchblade from his pocket, waving it in front of Jaziels eyes. Actually, I dont know her. Jaziel revealed a hint of fear in his expression. The lanky young man was instantly filled with disdain. If you dont know her, get lost. Dont stand here and be an eyesore. Are you looking for a fight? The woman beside Jaziel was nearly in tears. In her desperation, she had sought refuge by Jaziels side. After all, at the scene, Jaziel was the only man present who could help her. However, there was no reason for Jaziel to help her. However, I really cant stand people like you who bully women, Jaziel said. The young mans face momentarily froze when he heard Jaziels words. Then, he retorted angrily, Are you messing with me? As he spoke, the switchblade was immediately flicked open. The knife blade, glinting with a cold light, was being brandished before Jaziels eyes. With a nonchalant smile, Jaziel said, Youre overthinking things. I would rather buy one kilogram of chicken butt than to mess with you. Upon hearing that, the woman hiding behind Jaziel couldnt help but let out a soft chuckle. Feeling provoked, the young man picked up a knife and fiercely lunged at Jaziels chest. I see youre begging for trouble! The dagger had only just pierced halfway when the young man was sent flying backward like a kite with its string cut. Suddenly, everyone was taken aback. The speed at which Jaziel moved was astonishing. They couldnt even discern how he had made his move. At that moment, the intoxication of the young men significantly subsided, each of them revealing an expression of fear. These young hooligans, although they often got into fights, had never encountered someone so strong before. Get lost, Jaziel said in a cold tone. There are just too many of these riffraffs in society. In the next moment, the other young men helped the frail young man who had been sent flying. One by one, like losers, they fled in panic. Jaziel looked at the stunning woman who was still in a daze and said, Its getting late. You should head home. The woman finally reacted, saying, Thank you for stepping in to help. Could you perhaps offer me shelter for the night? I had a falling out with my family and ran away. Im penniless. As she spoke, the woman gazed longingly at Jaziel. After some thought, Jaziel decided that since he had found himself in this situation, he might as well see it through to the end. Thus, he gave a nod of agreement. All right, then. However, I need to take care of some things in the bar first, Jaziel said. Thank you so much, the woman said, her spirits lifting. By the way, whats your name? Jaziel asked. My name is Kayla Nevison. What about you? Nevison? A hint of contemplation surfaced in Jaziels eyes. There arent many with that surname. My name is Jaziel Lassche. Lets go, Jaziel casually remarked and walked into the bar. It had to be said that the bar was incredibly lavish and magnificent. As soon as Jaziel stepped in, a waiter came up to greet him. The bar was bathed in a brilliant light, and a band was performing a song in Uprian that Jaziel had never heard before. Jaziel had his hands tucked into his pockets, his gaze sweeping around. Sure enough, he spotted Billy and his entourage up on the second floor. Sir, what would you like to order? the waiter asked in a gentle voice. Bring a bottle of red wine and a fruit platter, Jaziel answered. Before long, the wine and fruit platter were served. Kayla uncorked the wine, pouring a glass for Jaziel. Upon seeing Jaziel reaching out for a drink, she quickly stopped him and said, After opening the wine, its best to let it breathe for about ten minutes. Thats when the flavor really comes through. Upon hearing that, Jaziel chuckled and shook his head. Regarding this knowledge, even though he had heard others speak of it in prison, he didnt pay any mind to it. However, it was clear that Kayla had a certain understanding of alcohol. Ten minutes later, Kayla picked up the wine glass, scrutinizing the color of the wine before handing it over to Jaziel with satisfaction. Give it a try, she suggested. Jaziel picked up the wine glass and took a big gulp. Its all right. He gave his assessment with a straight face. The waitress who had just walked over couldnt help but roll her eyes discreetly. What a country bumpkin! He looked so clueless when he drank earlier. Yet, hes trying to act like hes some kind of high-class society member. The two of them sat together, but Kayla did not partake in drinking. She simply fell into silence while eating the fruit from the platter. After all, they had just met and didnt have much in common to talk about. As Jaziel sipped his drink, his gaze would frequently wander toward the second floor. His target for that day was Billy. Just then, he saw Billy rise to his feet. Accompanied by a few of his underlings, he began descending the stairs, seemingly intending to leave. Right then, Jaziel stood up and said to Kayla, We should leave now. A look of astonishment crossed Kaylas face. The red wine and fruit platter were barely touched. However, upon seeing Jaziel already getting up and heading outside, she quickly followed him.
