Chapter29 But she was too embarrassed to ask anything, until another new message came in, it was from Lunara Decker. "Carlos accidentally let it slip, Garrett had been coming to this place a lot these years, do you know who's in there?" Adrienne didn't dare to reply. She went out to Willard's place to report and pick someone up. She came early today, was at the door before six. Lunara's message came in again. "It's been three years since we last met, let's meet up when we're free." Adrienne's palm suddenly gripped the steering wheel, leaned her back, and she felt totally drained. When Willard came in through the car door, he looked just as bad. There were several scratches on his face from a woman's nails, and you could even see the flesh and blood underneath. The woman must've used a lot of force. Adrienne didn't ask, just drove the car to the company. When it was time, Willard asked, "Did the police station contact you?" "Not yet." "That was probably contacting this afternoon, just let me know then, just say it's settled privately." "Okay." Willard raised his hand and rubbed his forehead, "You know what? Mr. Camacho got beaten up last night. I heard it was by a bunch of drunk punks. He had a severe concussion." A look of surprise flashed in Adrienne's eyes, then she frowned, "Will it affect the contract we're signing?" Willard didn't expect that was what she was worried about, and just found it funny. "The contract wasn't really affected. His company had so many departments, even if he wasn't there, someone else would carry out the contract. Don't you think this seemed like something Garrett would do?" It was just like when I beat him up three years ago, Garrett always played dirty. Adrienne looked ahead, like she just heard the funniest joke in the world. "He would step in for Bethany, but definitely not for me. Two years ago, Garrett almost died for Bethany." Willard was a bit surprised and took a few seconds to recover before asking gossipingly, "When did that happen?" "Two years ago at that big cruise party, didn't they invite a lot of media? That night, not long after the cruise left the coast, there was a storm. Bethany fell into the sea, and Garrett jumped in after her to save her. He ended up being res- cued after two days. Looks like Mr. Gibson didn't really pay attention to the Gerberton newspapers." Willard mostly paid attention to the finance section and really didn't look at entertainment much. But there were rumors that Garrett really liked Bethany. But he always felt like that's not it. The car stopped at the company, and Adrienne didn't bother to talk about those things anymore. She got out and opened the door for him. Willard's company was small, but it had a great location. There were office buildings all around. She was just about to follow in when she heard a voice. "Adrienne?" Adrienne stopped walking, turned her head and saw it was Tabitha. Tabitha dressed really fancy today, and there were some rich ladies having afternoon tea with her. Mrs. Fu hadn't met Adrienne, but when she heard Tabitha call out Adrienne, her expression changed right away. "Is this your daughter-in-law Adrienne?" Tabitha didn't look so good and kind of regretted shouting out, but she had to admit it anyway. Then she glared at Adrienne angrily, looked over at Willard not far away, and said, "Why are you hanging around a man?" Adrienne lowered her lashes, calm and steady, "I came out to look for a job." Tabitha laughed angrily and slapped her. "Are you here to find a job or to find a man? Adrienne, I see you never change!" Ever since what happened at the engagement party, everyone thought Adrienne was promiscuous and couldn't live without men. Otherwise, why would she drug her so-called adoptive brother? They said she was just being cheap. Mrs. Fu didn't expect Tabitha to actually do it, but after thinking about it, if it were her own daughter-in-law, she wouldn't be able to stand it either. It was just too embarrassing.
