Chapter 5 The Saint Family stood motionless, their minds blank with disbelief. "Are you saying River is dead?" "How could someone so afraid of death and pain possibly stop a medical dispute?" "Right! I remember she used to cry over a tiny finger scratch when she was a child. How could she possibly intervene in a fight like that?" The family members couldn't believe it, yet their bodies had already begun to tremble uncontrollably. 'Dr. Saint, it's true! Miss River really is gone-she died trying to stop the medical dispute! If you don't believe me, check the surveillance footage. See her body for yourselves." The nurse's tone carried a hint of anger. She'd expected the Saint Family to be heartbroken anc weep, but she hadn't imagined this reaction. Her gaze shifted toward Agnes, who was being comforted and shielded by the others. The sight made the nurse feel even more aggrieved and distressed. They were all their own children. How could their hearts be so utterly biased? Fuming, she turned and left without another word. 'Spencer, did that nurse say River is dead?" 'How ... how is that possible?" Addison's eyes were glazed over, tears streaming down her face. Spencer's expression remained calm, though his mind buzzed with disbelief. "This must be a lie! River and that nurse is putting on a show for us!" Skyler's face turned ashen, his knuckles cracking as he clenched his fists. "She'd go this far just o avoid apologizing! What a waste of all the teaching our family gave her! Let's go home. We absolutely can't let her get away with this!" The moment Skyler proposed leaving, the others nodded in agreement. They seemingly avoided he thought. But as they reached the ground floor, they overheard bystanders sharing regrets. What a pity, she is such a young girl." 'Yeah, the situation was so dangerous. That man's knife was terrifying!" 'So many grown men ran away, but she was the only one who rushed forward." 'I heard the girl didn't survive." 'Seven stab wounds to the heart, no one could survive that. It's just too tragic." The strangers' words froze the Saint Family in place. "Sklyer, did you hear them? They say there really was a little girl who tried to stop a medical dispute and was stabbed seven times," Addison murmured quietly. Her knees gave out as she collapsed against her husband's shoulder. "Spencer, call someone and ask! Ask if that girl ... was really your sister," ordered Stephen, his usual stern expression starting to falter. Just as Spencer tremblingly pulled out his phone to make the call, Agnes suddenly grew pale and fainted. "Spencer, my head hurts so much. I don't want to stay in the hospital. Can we go home right now? I'm really sick. Let's go back."
