---- Chapter 10 Scarlett showed up at the airport, dragging her suitcase behind her. She looked haggard, and instead of her usual extravagant attire, she was only wearing a set of sportswear and a pair of sunglasses. She looked at the scars on her wrists, which she had deliberately marked herself with to convince Hayden that she was a victim of domestic abuse. "People like you are so damn disgusting that they deserve to go to hell," she muttered before turning and blending into the crowd. The news that made headlines the next day was particularly eye-catching. "Plane Bound for a Small Town in Nylasia Involved in Unfortunate Crash" The list of victims published in the news was dense and lengthy, but among them was a line of ---- small letters that clearly read, "Scarlett Needham " The typhoon swept through the island without warning. Heavy rain and strong winds beat against the glass window. I rushed downstairs while shielding the design drafts in my arms, only to see Leo standing by the car with an umbrella and smiling at me. "My chief designer needs to improve on punctuality," he commented lightheartedly as he took my drafts from me, his wire-rimmed glasses fogging up. Suddenly, a familiar, deep masculine voice carried through the air. "Lucy..." Hayden was standing at a street corner, looking ---- completely drenched. His expensive suit was so wrinkled it looked like nothing more than rags, and he was holding up a faded velvet box. "I'm here to fulfill my promise," he said, walking over and opening the box with trembling hands, the diamond ring instantly becoming wet from the rain. "I once told you-" I chuckled and stroked the feathered headband by my ear gently. "Your memory is still as terrible as ever, Hayden. Your promise was completely invalidated the 57th time you decided to throw yourself at Scarlett. This ring is worth nothing to me now!" Leo took half a step forward and pushed Hayden away before putting his arm around my shoulders. "You've wasted seven whole years of Lucy's youth. Are you still trying to pester her now that she's finally regained her freedom?" Hayden staggered backward but still stubbornly lifted the ring. "Please give me one more chance.
