---- I'm sorry. I was blind before, but I've come to my senses and acknowledged my mistakes now-" linterrupted him calmly. "You've long run out of chances. Even if you visit my mother's grave and beg her for another chance, you won't get any response from her, Hayden." Leo suddenly took a feather brooch out of his pocket, the silver feather shining with cold light in the rain. "Do you remember this, Mr. Hayden?" he asked. Hayden's eyes widened in recognition-that was one of my draft designs that he had once deemed worthless. Leo pinned the brooch to my collar. "It meant nothing to you, but it shines brightly now." Having had his last shred of dignity crushed to pieces, Hayden suddenly burst into maniacal laughter. He pointed at Leo, shouting, "Enough! Do you think you're better than me? At her core, ---- Lucy's still that meek woman who obeys my every order! You simply picked up something I didn't want-" I slapped him so hard that his head snapped to the side. I shook my numb hand to bring some feeling back to it, emotion finally surfacing in my eyes. "That slap was for failing to live up to my seven years' worth of sincerity toward you." Then, I slapped him again and backhanded him before continuing, ''That was for breaking your promise to me and causing my mother to die with regrets." I wanted to raise my hand to slap him again, but Leo grabbed my wrist and said, "Don't dirty your hands on him." Leo's driver, Eddie Lawrence, stepped forward and pushed Hayden aside from behind. ---- Putting his arm around my shoulders, Leo carefully escorted me back to the car. As the car started back toward the studio, I turned to take one last look at the figure standing still under the rain. "Hayden... You really are the worst. " Two months later, the "Rebirth" series was spotlighted at an event and successfully stunned everyone present. During the curtain call, thousands of white doves took to the sky behind me. Hayden stared at his phone screen from inside a warehouse located in the slums. There were piles of trash and empty wine bottles at his feet. In the video playing on his phone, Leo helped Lucy put on an engagement ring, after which they eventually shared a kiss. ---- Hayden forcefully shattered the wine bottle in his hand, causing glass shards to penetrate deeply into his palm. "Congratulations on your new life..." He raised a half-empty bottle of vodka into the air. The wine, mixed with streaks of blood, dripped onto the newspaper announcing the news of Scarlett's death. "On the other hand," he muttered, "we both had it coming."
