Chapter 19 Meanwhile , Nora had no idea what Elliot was thinking . After wrapping up their honeymoon , she and Lucas returned to Southport . It was early September , and all the universities were buzzing as students flooded back to campus . On the official first day of the semester , Lucas was getting ready to leave for work Nora stood at the door , tying his tie for him . He looked down at her , reluctant to leave , until she finished tying his tie and gave his chest a light pat " All done . I still don't get why you insist on dressing up so formally . You know you could just wear something casual . " Lucas just shook his head and pointed to his cheek . When she finally rolled her eyes and gave him a quick kiss , a wide grin spread across his face . " If I don't dress up , how will my colleagues and students know my wife has such great taste ? " Nora hesitated , holding back a retort , and gave him a gentle shove out the door , " Just get going , Professor Reynolds . Honestly , sometimes , I wonder if Southport University regrets hiring you . Lucas raised an eyebrow , full of confidence . " They should be grateful they landed someone as great as me . I was top of my class , and now , I'm the top lecturer . " " Yeah , yeah , I know you're amazing Now get moving , or our star professor will be the one late on the first day , not his students . " Lucas didn't mind getting pushed out the door . He just turned and walked away , completely satisfied . Lately , a rumor had been going around Southport University . Ever since the famously tough Professor Reynolds got married , he'd been in such a good mood that his smile practically reached his ears every day . Nora only found out about this when she stopped by campus one day . Apparently , Lucas was constantly flashing his wedding ring and talking about her . " If you're wondering why I'm so dressed up , it's because my wife likes it . " You think my lunch smells good ? Of course ! My wife's cooking is the best ! " My plans for tomorrow ? Obviously , I'm spending the day with my wife . " But at that moment , Nora had no idea that Lucas was showing off at the university . Instead , she was wondering whether she should start looking for a job . Just then , there was a knock on the door . She got up , opened it , and found a deliveryman standing there with a package for her . After signing for it , she brought it back to her room and opened it . Inside was a wedding invitation . She took it out and flipped it open , and the first thing she saw was the names at the top - Elliot Chapter 10 Ward and Claire Reeves . So , they really did end up together . But what she didn't understand was why their invitation had . been sent to her . Were they trying to show off ? Or were they trying to prove that Elliot could just move on and find someone else after she left him ? But what did that have to do with her ? She honestly didn't care who Elliot was marrying . Nora tossed the invitation aside and went back to what she was doing . When Lucas got home that afternoon , he spotted the invitation card lying on the floor and bent down to pick it up . " Whose invitation is this ? Your ex ? " he teased , flipping it open and reading the names . " Took him long enough . " Nora shrugged and reached out to toss it straight into the trash . " Don't bother with them . It's pointless . " But Lucas held it up , just out of her reach , a mischievous smile on his face . " Hey , since they were nice enough to invite us , why don't we go ? " He'd love to know what Elliot was thinking when he sent them the invitation . The wedding was scheduled for next month , with much more time to prepare than Nora and Lucas had for theirs . Yet , the final result was far from perfect . Nora never thought she'd be heading back to Harbor City with Lucas so soon . When they arrived at the venue , Nora saw many familiar faces . Most of the guests knew she and Elliot had once been together . Now , seeing her walk in with another man , she could feel the buzz of gossip ripple through the crowd .
