---- Chapter 498 Donovan did not fight back after being punched. He ignored Gideon's shouting and slumped against the wall forlornly. He sat right down on the dirty floor. Almost by habit, he pulled out a cigarette and tried to calm down through smoking. Trenesville was just a small town without the medical resources of a larger city. After spending one night there, Donovan requested to transfer Giselle to a top private hospital in the city. Prior to that, he called Tony and told him to set things up at the hospital. This took a few hours. When the car they arranged for Giselle arrived, he tagged along for the ride. There was a weight on his chest whenever he watched Giselle, deep in a coma. Gideon, who hadn't slept for a night, knew that he had no right to tag along. As he didn't want to fight with Donovan, he drove home alone. A few hours later, Giselle was successfully transferred to the ICU of the private hospital. As a legendary neurosurgeon, Tony took on the responsibility and worked on Giselle's follow -up treatment plan with other experts. ---- Tony, who had just lost his son, felt numb when he witnessed Giselle's condition. Yet, he had no time to grieve. All he could do was calmly work out a surgery plan to save her life. Donovan stayed put at the hospital after that. Important work in the company was delegated to Ethan. Worries about Giselle's condition filled his mind. He could barely care about eating and sleeping well, let alone his work. When Dorothea got the news, she visited the hospital . Even Grace, who couldn't care less about Giselle , showed up out of courtesy. Dorothea looked serious when she heard that Giselle was in a coma with no guarantee that she'd wake up. "Why did she go rock climbing, and at such a dangerous place no less?" Dorothea sighed and moaned. "Lately, too many things are happening to our family. I wonder what went wrong." Grace whispered , "Dorothea , haven't you noticed ? Our bad luck began the moment we met Giselle. Her karma has finally arrived. I guess she deserved it." Dorothea said nothing, just fretting about Giselle's situation. She found it hard to stay out of it. Grace glanced at Donovan, who was spacing out in a corner. Betting that he wasn't listening, she boldly said to Dorothea, " Dorothea, don't worry too much about that bitch. She has always been an extreme sports enthusiast. It was just a matter ---- of time before she got into an accident. "We should feel thankful that she hasn't had kids. I'd feel bad for those poor kids if this happened to their mom!" Refusing to listen to Grace's snarky comments, Dorothea changed the topic instead. "Where's the doctor? I need to ask them about Giselle's condition . I need to know if they could save her." "Forget about it," said Grace. "I heard from Ethan that Giselle went rock climbing with that bastard child. I heard she fell off that cliff, hit a rock, and almost got crushed! What a miracle that she's still breathing. "Think. How could she be saved after that terrible fall? I bet she's only alive because she's hooked to the machine. That doctor was just trying to comfort Don, telling him that she'd be fine if she woke up in five days! "All her bones are shattered, and her head suffered severe trauma. Even if she survives, she'll most likely be ina vegetative state. And if she ever regains consciousness , she may be mentally impaired or permanently disabled!"
