---- Chapter 499 "That's what I'm worried about. If Giselle dies, things won't be as complicated . If she doesn't , she'll only be a burden to Don forever. After all, they haven't officially filed for divorce, right? "Given our family's generosity, we cannot possibly give up on a daughter-in-law. Am I right?" Grace's words weighed heavily on Dorothea , who grew more depressed at the thought of such a possibility. Grace might not have conveyed her message nicely, but what she said was the truth. Given Giselle's current condition , it was impossible to get back to normal. Anyone knew that there wouldn't be any miracle. Although Dorothea had always been annoyed at Giselle's antics, at this moment, she kind of missed them, even feeling sorry for Giselle. While they all waited, Donovan stood at the end of the corridor, sadness etched on his face. He smoked one cigarette after another, his figure shrouded in the smoke. "Don, we can't be sure when she'll wake up. Why don't you go home? You can't camp at the hospital. Just go," advised Dorothea. Grace smirked. "Dorothea, let him wait. Who knows if Giselle would drop dead at any moment? If that happens, he wouldn't ---- get to see her one last time-" "Shut up!" Enraged , Donovan cast a warning look at Grace, who shuddered and shut up. Turning around, she snickered. "Fine, fine. Suit yourself. You're really gonna put aside the livelihood of your employees for a woman, aren't you?" Dorothea knew better than to say anything to Donovan, who looked dejected and hostile. She let out a deep sigh. Donovan continued pacing the entrance of the ICU tensely. He couldn't even breathe normally. It was torture, having to be on high alert at all times. Time ticked by. Just like that, Donovan spent another sleepless night in the hospital corridor. The next morning, he was utterly depleted. Feeling dizzy, he sometimes lost track of where he was. Just as he was about to ask Ethan for an update on Giselle's condition, he caught a glimpse of Gideon. This immediately sent him into defensive mode. Standing in Gideon's way, he tried to stop him from nearing the ICU. "T told you to leave. Do you not understand?" "Donovan, I'm not interested in taking you on." Clearly, Gideon did not sleep last night either. He cast a tired look at the entrance of the ICU. "Giselle was hurt when she was out ---- with me. I won't leave until she's woken up." Amid the tense situation , the doors of the ICU flung open. A doctor with a serious face called out, "Where's the family of Giselle Holt?" Donovan dashed over. "What's wrong with her?" With a grave expression, the doctor addressed him, "Hi. Ms. Holt is in critical condition. We're not sure if she'll make it." Donovan's heart leaped out of his throat. Even his voice was shaking. "Is her life... in danger?"
