The battlescape had seen quite a few changes... Instead of one singular, chaotic clash, the battlefield had been split into smaller pockets. The exchanges between the fighters were observed within these pockets. Compared to that, it was the job of the marksmen and mages to provide rear support with projectiles, shields, buffs, and even control spells that could shift the favor of the smaller, individual battles. However, the shift in the nature of the battle was sure to favor those with superior numbers. No matter how powerful an individual was, when facing a combined might, it was only a matter of time before they fell. Of course, the outcome was not set in stone. But for the overwhelming majority, that was the truth— plain and simple. As the battle stretched on, more and more humans died. However, the death rate was quite low. This only went to show how hardy and experienced each combatant was. However, there was a level of individuality about the battle. The actions and ability of a single individual could potentially possess enough gravitas to shift the outcome of the entirety as a whole. High above the battlefield, on the back of a large {Blood Skyray}, Susan sat with her eyes closed. In front of her, was an altar carved from a single block of jade. It was covered with strange glyphs and runes, with a subtle glow that gave it an ethereal feel and atmosphere. The rıghtful source is 𝓷𝓸𝓿𝓮𝓵⚑𝓯𝓲𝓻𝓮⚑𝓷𝓮𝓽 From high up in the sky, Susan could observe the battlefield adequately. Her healing spells were also so powerful, they could instantly heal a majority of the wounds a warrior had sustained as long as he was not dead, allowing them to keep fighting. That was her only role— to provide timely heals in support of the entire army. Downing an entire bottle of mana regeneration potion, Susan let out a shaky sigh. She was completely exhausted. Over consuming mana so much was bound to have consequences later on, but it was an acceptable consequence. She was the only reason they were still clinging on. Her timely heals had saved dozens of lives already. But she was not invincible. Each healing spell consumed a ton of mana, and while she was covered with magic items and equipment that could boost her mana regeneration, as well as the spell conduit in the form of the jade altar, it was unfortunately, not enough. As such, she had to rely on mana regeneration potions as well. Being positioned at the rear line also meant she was in a relatively safe spot. So she didn't need to worry about attacks reaching her from the other side. And even if they did, she could summon shields to block. And yet for some reason, a strange feeling of apprehension and danger had gripped at her heart for a long time now. The feeling was strange and seemed to come from everywhere and nowhere at the same time. She had already summoned a magic barrier. However, that had dkne nothing to assuage her worries. 'Should I summon the guardian?' Although the guardian had a property that could make it as weightless as light, its rather large frame and bright features would make her location even clearer, allowing for better targeting. She couldn't afford to do that. Her eyes scanned the ground below. The battle had been ramping up in tempo for the past few minutes now. She suspected it would only get worse from not on too. She had also noticed Cain's absence. Her gaze traveled up. The skies has long since turned turbulent. Without a doubt, there was a battle going on high above even where she was. Unfortunately, her heals weren't potent enough to reach so far. Besides, she doubted they would be particularly effective for him when she considered the kind of opponent he was facing. She clenched her fists, then released. Mumbling under her breath, she cast another spell. A magic circle appeared around her wrist and a ball of light manifested on her palm. Then it shot out towards the ground, splitting midair into dozens of smaller orbs. The orbs left trails of glowing light in the sky as they smashed into the bodies of those with the heaviest injuries. The light wormed its way into their bodies and then into their wounds, purifying poisons, expelling foreign magical energy, and finally stitching them together in one fluid process. This was the Tier 2 light attribute healing spell, series— {Temple of the Light}. Within a predesignated area, the effect of all her light based spells were increased significantly and their mana cost was cut in half. Susan's face paled again and her body trembled as she let out a tired groan. A moment later, she straightened her posture and let out a sigh. Her forehead was covered in a layer of sweat, and her eyes were a bit glossy. With her slightly labored breathing, she looked oddly tempting. Cain probably would not be able to resist such a decadent sight. The thought flashing through her head, Susan's pale face turned a slight pink that flushed all the way to her ears. Suddenly, her eyes widened. The feeling of danger was suddenly much stronger than it had ever been. Her shield was shattered. Something was shooting towards her chest. The world around her slowed down for a moment. She was going to die. At such a distance, there was no possible defense she could muster in time. To make matters worse, the arrow was aimed right at her heart. If it struck a non-lethal area, she would have been able to heal herself. But the heart was the epicenter of life. If it was destroyed, she would die. Her eyes snapped shut. A torrent of shadows blossomed right before her. The arrow smashed into the shadows. The shadows were completely destroyed, but the arrow was completely stopped in place by the last tendril. Susan slowly opened her eyes. Standing in front of her, dressed in skintight, seductive battle armor, was the Queen of the Shadows, Evangeline. Evangeline turned around and flashed her a small smile, "The words you are looking for are thank and you." Susan's expression turned from confusion to a light grimace, Evangeline shrugged, "That is not of any importance." She glanced at the arrow. Her eyes narrowed, "A dangerous opponent has finally appeared." She said as she flung the arrow to the side. In the ground, Suzume the White Fox Princess slowly released the tension from her bow. She let out a chuckle, "Interesting. How very interesting..."
